Video After The Jump Houston's Slim Thug has assembled a really dope crew of emcees for his Boss Hogg Outlawz crew. One of them, J-Dawg just released visuals for "Back Trippin". A joint off his new album 'Still Behind Tint'. The clip is like a mini-movie as we watch J-Dawg deal with baby mama drama and the struggle to keep food on the table for his baby. Desperation leads to hitting the streets looking for a come up by any means necessary. 'Still Behind Tint' is in stores now.

For a hot minute, Houston rapper Mike Jones was everywhere. Dude was gimmicky, repeating his name throughout songs and giving out his real cell number. But people overlooked that because he had a bonafied hit early on with "Still Tippin", a collaboration with Slim Thug and Pall Wall. At that time, Mike was with Michal "5000" Watts at Swishahouse where he dropped the album 'Who Is Mike Jones?'. Seeing an opportunity to grab a bigger piece of the pie, Mike formed Ice Age Entertainment and dropped the mostly ignored album 'The Voice'. In addition to waning popularity, Mike was running into trouble with other rappers locally in Houston. At the 2008 Ozone Awards, held in Houston, he got punched in the nose by Trae The Truth for referring to himself as the "President Of Houston", even though he never repped the city according to Trae. Ozone caught up with Pall Wall recently and asked him just what the hell happened to Mike. Seems, Mike wasn't one of Paul's favorite people and he let that be known. "Ever since he left Swishahouse I haven’t really kept track of him. I really didn’t know him too well before he came to Swishahouse. I’d say he dug his own grave. He lied to a lot of people, he turned his back on a lot of people, and he burned a lot of bridges. I don’t want to kick a dog while he’s down and I don’t wanna just talk shit about him, but I think a lot of people were happy when [Trae] punched him and knocked him out. But at the same time, a lot of people were mad at Trae too. It’s not like Mike Jones is the gangsta of the year, so in my opinion, you don’t really get points for beating up Mike Jones. Some people say it was a publicity stunt on Trae’s part, but I disagree with that totally because I know Trae and he doesn’t really do publicity stunts like that. If Trae feels disrespected, he’s going to address it. I think that’s what happened. If somebody disrespects you, [punching them] is not always the answer, but it’s definitely sometimes the answer. So I don’t feel like Trae was wrong in any form or fashion. Trae doesn’t do publicity stunts. But like I said, Mike Jones burned his bridge with a lot of people, so he probably had a knock out coming from somewhere at some time anyway. I’m positive of that." Well, Damn!! Houston bred emcee Z-Ro, whose real name is Joseph Wayne McVey, is facing legal trouble for the third time after the Harris County Sheriff's Department charged the rapper for felony possession.

The self- proclaimed "King of the Ghetto" and Rap-A-Lot records MC has a trial date set for next Monday at the Harris County Courthouse from a February 2009 bust.

Police allege that McVey, 33, was in possession of a codeine mixture weighing more than 28 grams but less than 199 grams, including adulterants and dilutants.

Prior to the current charge, the rapper was charged in 2003 on another codeine charge, for which he eventually spent a couple of stints in prison after violating his probation.

This case came about two weeks after McVey was busted for misdemeanor marijuana possession and later found not guilty after taking the stand in his own defense at trial.

"The jury believed him when he said he didn't do it," Robert Jones, McVey's attorney, told the press. "He's a very honest, forthright person."

Although very honest, according to a report, another conviction could spell years behind bars.

"Right now, the penalty has been enhanced, so I would have to look that up to see what exactly that is, but I anticipate that he is going to trial because he didn't do anything, so the penalty is zero," Jones laughs.

Jones says his client is innocent of this charge. He says authorities found a bottle of pharmaceutical cough syrup in a bottle with someone else's name on the prescription in the back seat of a car in which McVey was riding.

Though set for Monday, Jones anticipates that the trial will be delayed, as he says that the D.A. has reindicted McVey for the same offense.

"They're trying to trump up the charges and make him scared so he'll take something," he says. "It is nothing more than a form of intimidation. It doesn't change the facts of the case at all."

It seems that the legal system is not playing around with rappers these days so we can only hope the best for Z-Ro. I just hope if he beats this case that he would run as far away from the “sizzurp” as possible.

HipHopWired Reports Known globally for her success as a member of the Hip-Hop group Salt-n-Pepa, Sandra “Pepa” Denton has taken time to look back at her history. While reminiscing she goes back to the time when she was talking to rapper turned actor Will Smith and has shown some regret to not actually dating Smith. In an interview that was posted by GlobalGrind the former rapper gives an account of her encounter with the Fresh Prince. "I thought Will was really cute and we would hang out a lot on the road. He liked to take care of me and never let me spend a dime. He was that kind of guy, real generous. I remember when they won their first award, he asked me to go out with him afterward. He was so excited. We were walking along the street getting ready to grab something to eat, and he just gave this homeless guy $100 dollars…I sometimes kick myself when I think about what could have been. He was so nice to me, but I really wasn't feeling him. I guess I couldn't appreciate a nice guy like Will Smith. He wasn't thug enough. I was attracted to thugs and hoodlums. Will was too nice to me." As with most women in their early ages, the tough guy seemed to be more of an appeal as opposed to what Smith had to offer. "I liked people like Louis Burrell (MC Hammer's brother). He was rough, he was street and he didn't pull any punches. He would walk around with a cane and pimp hat. He always referred to women as b**ches." Even with all that, I liked him." Denton released her autobiography Let's Talk About Pep in August 2008 where she chronicled her life and gave a behind the scenes glimpse of the fame, family, failures and accomplishments that accompanied her during her peak as a celebrity. In it she speaks on her relationships and dealing with failed marriages and trying to escape from domestic abuse. Now no factual names were released in the book and pseudonyms replaced names but everyone can read between the lines and make their own judgment to who she may or may not be referring to.

Pepa, along with her partner in rhyme Salt, are currently stepping in to take the place of Wendy Williams for her radio show as she had journeyed out to television and left the radio business behind her. Along with that there are rumors that she will be partnering with TLC member Chilli to have a series that should premier on VH1 in 2010. Now ladies, particularly the younger generation of the African-American community, this may be a reflection of situations that you have continuously placed yourself in while the dating realm thinking that the nice guy is unappealing and wanting that thug. Clearly it might be time to take a close look at the end of the tunnel because the thug remains the thug whereas nice guys, such as Will Smith, go on to make multi-million dollar movies on a yearly basis. Now if that's not saying anything then hey enjoy that lifestyle of dealing with the man constantly on the run. That has to be exciting.
