Actor Michael K. Williams From 'The Wire' & 'Boardwalk Empire' To Play Ol' Dirty Bastard In New Film

A biopic about troubled Wu Tang Clan member Ol' Dirty B*stard has landed a top notch actor for the leading role according to Entertainment Weekly.

Michael K. Williams, who played deadly stick up man Omar in The Wire and Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire will portray the rapper in the movie Dirty White Boy.

The flick will center around the relationship between ODB and Jarred Weisfeld, "a 22-year-old VH1 production assistant who through a lot of hustle (and the occasional lie) talked his way into becoming the rapper’s manager when Jones was serving a three-year stint in prison in the early 2000s"

Weisfeld was instrumental in ODB's comeback when he was released from prison in May 2003 and signed to Roc-A-Fella Records. Unfortunately he died from a drug overdose in 2004 at age 35 before the comeback fully materialized.

Dirty White Boy is being produced by Lars Knudsen and Jay Van Hoy.

Trav gets help from Rage Against The Machine guitar wizard Tom Morello, and vocal assists from Wu Tang Clan's RZA and Raekwon. The album is set to drop early 2011.

Wu Tang Clan's RZA is set to bring his kung flu flick The Man With The Iron Fist to the big screen. He has been working on the project for the last five years with Eli Roth and director Quentin Tarantino. It obviously pays to have friends in high places, because superstar actor Russell Crowe has signed on to play a role alongside RZA in the flick, which will be directed by RZA himself, according to E!. "I won't spoil it for you, but Russell's gonna be the baddest man alive. That man is in fighting shape. That man will knock you out," Rza told E! RZA has been building his acting resume over the last several years with roles in American Gangster, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, and The Box. He's also worked on soundtracks for Kill Bill, Blade Trinity and Ghost Dog. Universal is backing his latest project with a budget of $20 million. No word yet on a release date.

Lady Gaga & RZA To Perform At Yoko Ono Concert In L.A.

West Coast music lovers are in for a treat: Yoko Ono is rounding up an eclectic lineup of musicians for a few performances in Los Angeles. Along with her band, We Are One Plastic Ono, the mercurial widow of Beatles legend John Lennon will be putting on two shows at L.A.’s Orpheum Theater on Friday, October 1 and Saturday, October 2. The set list includes artists like Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, Vincent Gallo and RZA, as well as Iggy Pop on October 1 and Lady Gaga the next evening. The shows come a week before what would have been Lennon’s 70th Birthday on October 9. Lennon’s solo albums and other recordings will be remastered and released for the occasion.
