Video After The Jump

What should have been a routine traffic stop turned into an unjustified shooting of a citizen in Columbia, South Carolina.

Prosecutors just released dash cam footage of the incident that happened on September 4th. State Trooper Sean Groubert pulled in behind 35-year old African American Levar Jones, who had stopped at a Circle K convenience store. After Jones exited his vehicle, Groubert asked to see his license.

Jones turns around and reaches inside his vehicle for his I.D. At that point Groubert screams "get out the car," twice before firing four shots

“I just got my license. You said get my license,” Jones says. “I grabbed my license. Right there, that’s my license.”

“Put your hands behind your back,” Groubert tells him, as he walks over to cuff the innocent man.

“What did I do? What did I do, sir?” Jones asks.

Groubert asks him if he is hit.

“I think so, I can’t feel my leg," the injured man replied. "I don’t know what happened. I just grabbed my license. Why did you shoot me?”

“Well, you dove headfirst back into your car,” he said.

According to WLTX, Groubert was fired on September 19 by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety after a review of the State Law Enforcement Division report. DPS Director Leroy Smith said Groubert did not follow protocol when he shot Jones.

12348743086?profile=originalX FACTOR brat CHER LLOYD has been snatched away from her biggest fan WILL.I.AM by JAY-Z.

The Jigga Man has swooped in and inked a deal with the gobby teen quicker than the BLACK EYED PEAS mastermind could say "Where Is The Love, Cher?

Even though Will performed with Cher in the talent show's finals, piled on praise and vowed to sign her to his label, Madame Lloyd is now locked into Jay-Z's Roc Nation imprint.

Will even promised Cher's mum Dina he would make her daughter a star the night she was booted off X Factor.

But signing for Jay-Z is a canny move by the snarling youngster, who now shares a label home with another hugely successful young female rapper - WILLOW SMITH. A source said: "Even though Cher didn't do terrifically well in the X Factor finals, there's been a hell of a lot of interest in her. Will.i.am's backing only intensified the battle to get her signature.

"After weighing up the pros and cons, it was thought that the team at Roc Nation would be best placed to turn her dreams of stardom into a reality."

By joining Roc Nation, Cher - who wore a necklace saying "Turn Ur Cher On" during a performance at Pop Factory on Merseyside earlier this week - can line up alongside emerging urban artists.

Next year is already looking like it will be dominated by female MCs. Rhymer JESSIE J has got the Brits' Critics' Choice award under her belt and dubstep queen KATY B narrowly missed out on a chart No 1 earlier in the month.

The source added: "All the labels are on the lookout for sassy, young female artists with bags of attitude, and Cher fits that bill perfectly."

Following speculations about signing to Jay-Z's Roc Nation, it was confirmed today (Aug. 9) that Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, inked a deal with the record label. The nine-year-old singer, alongside new labelhead Jay-Z, appeared on Ryan Seacrest's "On-Air With Ryan Seacrest" radio show this morning to make the official announcement. "We at Roc Nation are excited to work with Willow. She has an energy and enthusiasm about her music that is truly infectious," said Jay-Z via a statement. "It's rare to find an artist with such innate talent and creativity at such a young age. Willow is about to embark on an incredible journey and we look forward to joining her as she grows in all aspects of her career." Willow's mother, Jada Pinkett-Smith, added, "After meeting with several record companies, it was clear that Jay-Z, Ty Ty, Jay Brown and the Roc Nation staff was the unquestionable choice. Their passion for Willow combined with their boundless vision and artistic integrity made Roc Nation the perfect home for our little girl." Willow's first single, "Whip My Hair," is produced by newcomer Jukebox and has garnered the tween trendsetter comparisons to Rihanna. The accompanying video will be shot in Los Angeles at the end of this month. Source: Billboard twitter-5d.gif

Legendary party-rocker DJ Jazzy Jeff was stopped mid-performance in Las Vegas Wednesday night (August 25) while DJing a charity event in honor of his former partner, the late DJ AM. According to reports, the management at Surrender nightclub were "unhappy" with the musical selections Jeff was playing and made the decision to pull him mid-set. Jeff later tweeted about the incident, saying "Funny when people r having a good time but management isn't..can u say...The Right Party at the Wrong Place...F--- it...AM Lives."

Known for being both one of the most universally respected and beloved DJ's, Jeff was donating his time in honor of his late friend, who held a DJing residency at Rain nightclub in Vegas prior to his death. Unfortunately this is not the first time that Jeff has been forcibly removed from the stage while DJing. Jeff was similarly disrespected during the Kansas City stop on the Bacardi B-Live tour in June of 2009 when event organizers complained about his hype man Skillz' alleged usage of "gang signs" while Jeff played Biz Markie's unrequited love anthem "Just a Friend." Jeff has yet to comment about the incident (beyond his tweet). Source: BoomBox twitter-5d.gif

HipHopWired Reports Known globally for her success as a member of the Hip-Hop group Salt-n-Pepa, Sandra “Pepa” Denton has taken time to look back at her history. While reminiscing she goes back to the time when she was talking to rapper turned actor Will Smith and has shown some regret to not actually dating Smith. In an interview that was posted by GlobalGrind the former rapper gives an account of her encounter with the Fresh Prince. "I thought Will was really cute and we would hang out a lot on the road. He liked to take care of me and never let me spend a dime. He was that kind of guy, real generous. I remember when they won their first award, he asked me to go out with him afterward. He was so excited. We were walking along the street getting ready to grab something to eat, and he just gave this homeless guy $100 dollars…I sometimes kick myself when I think about what could have been. He was so nice to me, but I really wasn't feeling him. I guess I couldn't appreciate a nice guy like Will Smith. He wasn't thug enough. I was attracted to thugs and hoodlums. Will was too nice to me." As with most women in their early ages, the tough guy seemed to be more of an appeal as opposed to what Smith had to offer. "I liked people like Louis Burrell (MC Hammer's brother). He was rough, he was street and he didn't pull any punches. He would walk around with a cane and pimp hat. He always referred to women as b**ches." Even with all that, I liked him." Denton released her autobiography Let's Talk About Pep in August 2008 where she chronicled her life and gave a behind the scenes glimpse of the fame, family, failures and accomplishments that accompanied her during her peak as a celebrity. In it she speaks on her relationships and dealing with failed marriages and trying to escape from domestic abuse. Now no factual names were released in the book and pseudonyms replaced names but everyone can read between the lines and make their own judgment to who she may or may not be referring to.

Pepa, along with her partner in rhyme Salt, are currently stepping in to take the place of Wendy Williams for her radio show as she had journeyed out to television and left the radio business behind her. Along with that there are rumors that she will be partnering with TLC member Chilli to have a series that should premier on VH1 in 2010. Now ladies, particularly the younger generation of the African-American community, this may be a reflection of situations that you have continuously placed yourself in while the dating realm thinking that the nice guy is unappealing and wanting that thug. Clearly it might be time to take a close look at the end of the tunnel because the thug remains the thug whereas nice guys, such as Will Smith, go on to make multi-million dollar movies on a yearly basis. Now if that's not saying anything then hey enjoy that lifestyle of dealing with the man constantly on the run. That has to be exciting.
