Video After The Jump

The issue of skin color is is a constant topic in America amongst amongst all races, but none more so than in the black community where skin tones can range from very light to very dark. Things like who has "good hair" vs nappy hair are often joked about in school. Most of the time it's not until we reach adulthood that we realize how much we are affected by these comparisons.

In the hip hop community we need to look no further than music videos to see that often dark skinned girls are shunned in favor of lighter skinned women. Why is that the case?

Directors Bill Duke and D. Channsin Berry have put together a powerful new documentary titled 'Dark Girls' that takes a look at the "deep-seated biases and attitudes about skin color...particularly dark skinned women, outside of and within the Black American culture."

In the preview we see several women talk about issues, ranging from being picked on in school because of their darker skin color, to problems finding a mate.

Maybe the most heartbreaking scene shows a small girl who is asked to point out the smart, pretty girl on a sheet of paper. She consistently points to the white one as being smart and more attractive, while saying just the opposite about the dark skinned girl.

Check out the preview below, it's certain to make you think.

'Dark Girls' is expected to be released in Fall/Winter 2011.

Compelling video has been released of a hostage situation gone terribly wrong in Panama City, Florida.

56-year old Clay Duke interrupted a school board meeting yesterday, by first painting a large, red ”V" on the wall. He then pulled out a handgun, telling all the women they could leave, and the male board members to stay.

Everybody in this room, except the a**holes behind that counter, hit the road. The women can leave, you six men stay,” he said.

Duke then started rambling about the school board firing his wife and how their benefits had run out. He declared that he was either going to die or be sent to prison for a long time.

School board member Ginger Littleton had left the room as instructed by the gunman. But in an incredible act of bravery, she returned and attempted to disarm Duke when he turned his back. She snuck up behind him and hit the arm holding the gun with her purse.

It didn’t work, Duke simply knocked her to the ground, calling her a “stupid b*tch.

“Quite frankly, at that point in the back of my mind, I thought . ‘You know, you’re probably right,” Littleton said later.

Littleton later told the Panama City News Herald she felt compelled to do something.

“To me it was either go for it now or live with the consequences, and I couldn’t live with the consequences,” she said. “He pointed the gun directly at my head and he didn’t choose to do that to me. I’m sure when I wake up tomorrow I’ll be a sadder, but wiser person.”

Duke spent several minutes talking to Superintendent Bill Husfelt, who swore that he didn’t remember his wife.

Husfelt asked that the other board members be let go, since he was the one who probably made the decision to fire his wife. Duke then raised his gun as Husfelt pleaded for his life, and started firing wildly.

By some miracle, he didn’t hit anyone.

A security guard wounded Duke, who then took his own life.

Another week and yet another rapper is headed to prison. Willie D of The Geto Boys plead guilty yesterday November 2, to wire fraud and received a sentence of one year and a day in prison. The Houston MC was originally arrested in May 2009. The case stems from a scam in which Willie used eBay to defraud customers out of money with a bogus phone company named Texas One Wireless. Customers would wire the company money for iPhones. In return they would get a fake tracking number and never receive the phones. Willie, born William James Dennis was a part of the Geto Boys along with Bushwick Bill and Scarface, when the group shot to fame, propelled by the hit single "Mind Playing Tricks On Me." He will have to pay $197,087.17 in restitution to the 35 people he conned. Willie faced a maximum of 20 years and a $250,000 fine, but got a lesser sentence by pleading guilty to 15 counts. He is currently free on bond pending a federal prison being found for him. twitter-5d.gif

Video After The Jump (CNN) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has condemned the planned burning of Qurans on the anniversary of the 2001 attacks on the United States as criticism mounts from Muslims around the world. Speaking Tuesday at an iftar meal in Washington to celebrate the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Clinton said she welcomed the concerns. "I am heartened by the clear, unequivocal condemnation of this disrespectful, disgraceful act that has come from American religious leaders of all faiths ... as well as secular U.S. leaders and opinion makers," she said. On Wednesday the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan also condemned the Florida church's plan to burn the Quran, the Muslim holy book, as "disrespectful, intolerant and divisive," in a statement. The statement comes days after the top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David Petraeus, warned that the plan could put U.S. troops' lives at risk. The pastor of the church, Terry Jones, told CNN Tuesday his flock was taking the warning seriously but had not decided to cancel the event, planned for September 11. Jones, pastor of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, told CNN's "American Morning:"We have firmly made up our mind, but at the same time, we are definitely praying about it." Later Tuesday, Jones had a response to the statement from Petraeus. "The general needs to point his finger to radical Islam and tell them to shut up, tell them to stop, tell them that we will not bow our knees to them," Jones said on CNN's "AC360." "We are burning the book," Jones said. "We are not killing someone. We are not murdering people." The planned action has drawn sharp criticism from Muslims around the world and from U.S. officials. The U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, on Tuesday issued a statement saying the U.S. government "in no way condones such acts of disrespect against the religion of Islam, and is deeply concerned about deliberate attempts to offend members of religious or ethnic groups." It emphasized that it strongly condemned "the offensive messages, which are contrary to U.S. government policy and deeply offensive to Muslims especially during the month of Ramadan." With about 120,000 U.S. and NATO-led troops still battling al Qaeda and its allies in the Islamic fundamentalist Taliban movement, Petraeus warned that burning Qurans "is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems -- not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community." Petraeus said he was concerned about the political repercussions of the church's plan. "Even the rumor that it might take place has sparked demonstrations such as the one that took place in Kabul yesterday," he said. "Were the actual burning to take place, the safety of our soldiers and civilians would be put in jeopardy and accomplishment of the mission would be made more difficult." Thousands of Indonesians gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Sunday to protest the planned Quran burning. "The burning is not only an insult to the holy Quran, but an insult to Islam and Muslims around the world," said Muhammad Ismail, a spokesman for the hard-line Indonesian Muslim group Hizb ut-Tahrir. Jones said his congregation was aware that the action was offensive. "We realize that this action would indeed offend people, offend the Muslims. I am offended when they burn the flag. I am offended when they burn the Bible. But we feel that the message that we are trying to send is much more important than people being offended." Jones said Muslims are welcomed in the United States, if they observe the Constitution and don't try to impose Sharia law, or Muslim law. The message, he said, is directed toward the "radical element of Islam." "Our message is very clear," he said. "It is not to the moderate Muslim. Our message is not a message of hate. Our message is a message of warning to the radical element of Islam, and I think what we see right now around the globe provides exactly what we're talking about," he said. The center says it was founded in 1986 as a "total concept church for the rich, the poor, the young and the old." Its purpose is to "stand up for righteousness and for the truth of the Bible." It stresses that "Christians must return to the truth and stop hiding." "We need to speak up against sin and call the people to repentance. Abortion is murder. Homosexuality is sin. We need to call these things what they are and bring the world the true message: that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life," it says on the church's website. It also emphasizes its dislike of Islam, and on its website, it blog posts an item called "Ten Reasons to Burn a Koran. "Any religion which would profess anything other than this truth is of the devil. This is why we also take a stand against Islam, which teaches that Jesus is not the Son of God, therefore taking away the saving power of Jesus Christ and leading people straight to Hell," the site says. Video After The Jump When I originally saw this video, the first thought that came to mind was, who in the hell thought of this sh*t in the first place?. I mean it had to start somewhere. Mules, named Dipsey Doodle and Smokey are made to high dive 22 feet from a platform into a six foot pool at the "All-American High Diving Aqua Mules" show in Pipe Creek, Texas. Crowds come and pay six bucks per person to watch and laugh at the spectacle. The show's owner, Bill Rivers thinks the mules love it. "All I can say, you know, is what's wrong with a mule diving in a pool on a hot day? I mean it sounds pretty good to me," Bill says. On one of the practice runs, Bill is heard yelling "yee haw" as Smokey hits the "pool". No joke, I only though they said that phrase in old western movies, haha. Police have ruled that the show isn't harming the animals and is legal. I can think of better ways to spend $6, but it's obvious some people like this kind of entertainment. But there are people who don't like it at all. AnimalsChange.org has started a petition to have the show stopped. Guess we'll see what happens. twitter-2d.png

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Frantic witnesses watched a white van speed away from the spot where two West Memphis police officers were shot in May, but one told an emergency operator with some resignation that "they're both dead now."

A prosecutor on Friday released telephone calls made to 911 operators after the May 20 shooting on an Interstate 40 exit ramp in eastern Arkansas.

Other callers helped police tracked the van to a Walmart parking lot, where the accused gunmen were killed in a shootout with police.

West Memphis police officers Bill Evans and Brandon Paudert were shot dead along the highway and police later killed Ohio residents Jerry and Joseph Kane.

Joseph was Jerry Kane's 16 year old son.

Previously released video showed the boy fired an AK-47 at officers after his father was pulled over for a traffic stop.

I sometimes question the sanity of Fox talk show host, Glenn Beck.

He rants and raves and even once literally barked like a dog, So I think its best to just view him as a comedian.

This past week while poking fun at news competitor MSNBC for their low ratings he mocked Lindsay Lohan's not infamous courtroom appearance where the words "f*ck you" were painted on her fingernails.

David Carradine's hanging photo has sparked both new outrage and theories all at once. The David Carradine hanging photo was published in Thailand, but the David Carradine hanging photo has outraged the Carradine family. All over the Internet, the David Carradine death picture has David Carradine Hanging Photo Sparks New Outrage, Theories attracted fans looking to see their idol once more - no matter what - and for those hoping the David Carradine hanging photo can provide any new hints as to how it happened. David Carradine's death picture has his hands tied in front of him as he is hanging from his closet. The hanging photo was released by a tabloid Thailand newspaper, capitalized on Carradine's death taking place in Thailand. The death picture was reportedly taken originally by the forensic team at the scene. Ever since David Carradine's death, theories have ranged from Carradine being murdered, to him committing suicide, to him dying by auto-erotic asphyxiation. The search for David Carradine's death picture may be gruesome, but aside from the disturbing curiosity, people are looking for any possible answers to his death. Since Carradine's hanging photo had his hands tied up in front of him, it sparked the theory that someone must have been with him in the hotel before his death. This puts both the murder theory and the auto-erotic theory in the lead. There were further reports from Thai police that Carradine had a rope around his genitals. The death picture shadowed much of Carradine's body, so those who study it may not find such a rope. The legendary Carradine family is already threatening legal action against the David Carradine hanging photo. Legal action will also be taken against any American publication that publishes the death picture. As for the remaining question as to why Carradine was dead, the autopsy results that would settle the matter are still weeks away. Until then, the murder and suicide and auto-erotic theories will still be competing with each other, even as Carradine is being laid to rest. SEE PHOTO HERE Source:Associated Content

David Carradine's third wife Gail Jensen has revealed intimate details of the actor's private sexual antics in a candid interview with Radaronline.com – including a fondness for tying himself up to "relax" and riding horses bareback while wearing a Speedo. "He had his kinky moments," Jensen said. Jensen was Carradine's third wife. The pair were together for 15 years and married for 10, she said. She insisted she only saw him tie his hands and that it was "never, never" the sort of autoerotic asphyxiation that may have led to his death in a Bangkok hotel room. "He told me it was for meditation because of all the pressure on his life and things, so he'd tie himself up and relax, and I mean, I didn't think it was a horrible thing, but to me, it was a little weird," she said. Jensen told Radar that she’d often discover her husband nearly naked and bound at the wrists in their bedroom, or in front of the family fireplace. The actor, 72, was found June 4 in a room at Bangkok's Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel hanging naked from a closet with cords binding his wrist, neck and genitals. Police first suspected suicide, but now believe the actor's death was accidental suffocation or heart failure. Famed New York City forensic pathologist Michael Baden - who is familiar with the signs of autoerotic asphyxiation - was to perform an autopsy on Carradine's body in Los Angeles. Jensen also said Carradine often fell asleep in their swimming pool and that his preferred attire at home was a skimpy Speedo swimsuit. "The entire 15 years we were together he was in his Speedos," she said. "He liked to go horseback riding bareback in his Speedos." When asked if it was for sexual gratification, Jensen said, "everything for him was for fun." Jensen is not the first of Carradine's ex-wives to speak out on his sexual proclivities. In 2003 court papers obtained by TheSmokingGun.com last week, his third and most recent ex-wife Marina Anderson accused the actor of "deviant sexual behavior which was potentially deadly" and said he engaged in an "incestuous relationship with a very close family member." In her Radar interview, Jensen also revealed Carradine's love of tattoos and piercing, describing a fish tattoo that stretched from his torso and down his leg. "He liked piercing, he thought that was fun," she said. Source: New York Daily News

Carradine, who became famous in the 1970s when he starred as traveling Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine in the television series "Kung Fu," was 72. The rope was believed to be from the hotel room curtains, Bangkok Police Lt. Col. Pirom Chanpirom said. He said investigators found no sign of forced entry into Carradine's room. An autopsy was being conducted at a Bangkok hospital, but no results will be available for another day, he said.
