PITTSBURGH (AP) — Franco Harris, the Hall of Fame running back whose heads-up thinking authored “The Immaculate Reception,” considered the most iconic play in NFL history, has died. He was 72.

Harris’ son Dok told The Associated Press his father passed away overnight. No cause of death was given.

Harris ran for 12,120 yards & won 4 Super Bowl rings with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970s.

Harris, the 6-foot-2, 230-pound workhorse from Penn State, 8 times topped 1,000 yards rushing in a season, including 5 times while playing a 14-game schedule. He piled up another 1,556 yards rushing & 16 rushing touchdowns in the playoffs, both second all-time behind Emmitt Smith.

Harris signed with Seattle, running for just 170 yards in eight games before being released in midseason. He retired as the NFL’s third all-time leading rusher behind Walter Payton and Jim Brown.

“I don’t even think about that (anymore),” Harris said in 2006. “I’m still black & gold.”

Harris is survived by his wife Dana Dokmanovich and his son, Dok.

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is officially hanging up his gloves.

The eight-division world champion and Philippine senator on Wednesday announced his retirement from the ring.

“I would like to thank the whole world, especially the Filipino people, for supporting Manny Pacquiao. Goodbye boxing,” the 42-year-old said in a video posted on his Facebook page. “It is difficult for me to accept that my time as a boxer is over. Today I am announcing my retirement.”

Pacquiao finished his 26-year, 72-fight career with 62 wins, eight losses and two draws. Of those 62 wins, 39 were by knockout and 23 by decision. He won 12 world titles and is the only fighter in history to win titles in eight different weight classes.

His retirement from boxing followed a disheartening defeat to Yordenis Ugas in Paradise, Nevada, on Aug. 21. The younger Cuban boxer beat Pacquiao by unanimous decision, retaining his WBA welterweight title. It was Pacquiao’s first fight in more than two years.

“Thank you for changing my life. When my family was desperate, you gave us hope, you gave me the chance to fight my way out of poverty,” Pacquiao said in the video. “Because of you, I was able to inspire people all over the world. Because of you I have been given the courage to change more lives.”

Pacquaio had hinted at retirement recently. It had also been expected because he is setting his sights on a bigger political battlefield. Earlier this month, he accepted his political party’s nomination and declared he will run for Philippines president in elections next May.

He has accused the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, his former ally, of making corruption worse in the Philippines. He promised to fight poverty and warned corrupt politicians they will soon end up in jail.

Pacquiao’s rags-to-riches life story and legendary career brought honor to his Southeast Asian nation, where he is known by the monikers Pacman, People’s Champ and National Fist.

He left his impoverished home in the southern Philippines as a teenager and stowed away on a ship bound for Manila. He made his professional boxing debut as a junior flyweight in 1995 at the age of 16, fighting his way out of abject poverty to become one of the world’s highest-paid athletes.

A monthlong mission in Ohio recently turned up 45 missing children and led to 179 arrests, authorities said.

In an operation dubbed Autumn Hope, the US Marshals Service in Ohio and Virginia tracked the children, including a “high-risk” 15-year-old girl from Cleveland who was linked to suspected human trafficking, authorities said Monday.

Twenty other children were also located as authorities checked on their well-being.

During one of the missing children recoveries, a loaded gun was recovered. A 15-year-old boy had two warrants and is suspected in multiple shootings and a murder, authorities said.

Two other juveniles were found in West Virginia during a traffic stop, leading to the arrest of an adult male who was charged with concealment/removal of a minor child in Jackson County.

Autumn Hope was conducted by the marshals in conjunction with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and the Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, as well as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and state and local agencies in Ohio.

“My thanks to all personnel who have stepped up for this operation,” said Peter C. Tobin, US Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio. “These are the same personnel who hunt down violent fugitives every day. I’m incredibly proud of them and pleased that they were able to apply those same skills to finding missing children. I know Operation Autumn Hope has made a difference in a lot of young lives.”

The US Marshals have conducted similar operations before, including in Ohio.

Last month, they said 35 missing children, between the ages of 13 and 18 from the Cuyahoga County area, were located during Operation Safety Net. Just over 20 percent of the found cases were tied to human trafficking.

That same month, the marshals also announced the arrest of 262 suspects, including 141 gang members, and the recovery of five missing children in Oklahoma.

Thirty-nine children were found in Georgia during Operation Not Forgotten in August and eight missing kids were recovered in Indiana in September as part of Operation Homecoming.

The marshals have found missing children in 75 percent of cases the agency has received — and 72 percent of those cases were recovered within a week, officials said.

Since 2005, the agency has recovered more than 2,000 missing kids.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Dennis Hof, a legal pimp who gained notoriety for an HBO series about his business and who has fashioned himself as a Donald Trump-style Republican candidate for the state Legislature, has died, Nevada authorities said Tuesday.

An employee at Hof’s Love Ranch brothel about an hour outside of Las Vegas summoned authorities a little before 11 a.m. Tuesday after Hof was found unresponsive and not breathing, said Nye County Sheriff Lt. David Boruchowitz.

He declined to say where on the property Hof was found, and said people at the business were being questioned.

“Preliminarily, there is no indication of foul play,” Boruchowitz said.

Hof, who turned 72 on Sunday, was the Republican candidate this year in a heavily GOP state legislative district.

He had been celebrating is birthday at a hotel in the rural city of Pahrump that Hof had said would be attended by porn star Ron Jeremy, rapper and reality television star Flavor Flav and Joe Arpaio, the former six-term sheriff of metropolitan Phoenix

It wasn’t immediately clear Tuesday if they all attended, but Arpaio confirmed he had been at the party Monday night and was astounded to hear of Hof’s death.

“Boy, that’s shocking,” Arpaio said.

The former sheriff said Hof was in good spirits when Arpaio left the party around 10 p.m. Monday.

Arpaio, who lost a Senate GOP primary in Arizona in August, said he had taken part in some of Hof’s campaign efforts and was asked by Hof to speak at the party. The lawman said he delivered his comments to the crowd, wished Hof well and ate birthday cake.

“The thing I liked about him: He was with Trump and was for the Second Amendment and lower taxes,” Arpaio said moments before boarding a plane to Phoenix.

Hof owned a handful of brothels in Nevada, the only state that allows them to legally operate.

His Love Ranch brothel is where NBA player Lamar Odom was found unconscious in 2015.

The brothel was temporarily shuttered twice this year by regulators who said Hof had failed to renew licenses and get proper permits for renovations.

About 20 brothels operate in Nevada, mostly in rural areas. The state doesn’t publicize how many are open, and most owners keep a much lower profile than Hof.

In addition to his legislative campaign, Hof faced a push to outlaw brothels and had problems with local regulators in the two counties where he runs the licensed bordellos.

Hof had also been accused of sexual assault on at least four occasions. The Nevada Department of Public Safety says it is investigating an allegation made in September but has released few details.

Hof had denied any wrongdoing.

The flamboyant pimp starred in the HBO adult reality series “Cathouse” and wrote a book titled “The Art of the Pimp,” a play on Trump’s book “The Art of the Deal.”

Wayne Thorley, the deputy secretary of state for elections, said Hof’s name will remain on the ballot. Thorley said ballots with Hof’s name have already been printed and mailed to voters but signs will be posted at polling places notifying voters that the candidate has died.

Thorley says that if Hof wins the election in the heavily GOP assembly district officials in the counties that the district covers will nominate another Republican to fill the vacancy.

Hof was running against Democratic Las Vegas educator Lesia Romanov.

Hof ran for office in 2016 as a Libertarian but lost the race.

This year, he ran as a Republican and earned backing from Trump associate Roger Stone and tax-cut activist Grover Norquist.

He upended Nevada politics this summer when he ousted an incumbent Republican lawmaker in a primary, celebrating at an election night party with “Hollywood Madam” Heidi Fleiss.

He said the anti-brothel push and regulatory problems he’s faced this year were political retribution.

The question about whether or not Nicki Minaj would respond to Remy Ma's disses has been answered via her new song "Frauds" featuring Drake and Lil Wayne.

Remy released "Shether" on February 25. Then followed that up with "Another One" several days later.

Because Young Money Records' First Lady didn't immediately fire back, fans began to wonder if she didn't want it with Remy.

On Friday, March 10, Nicki took to her Instagram account to explain why she waited to clap back and issued a challenge to her new nemesis.

12352566694?profile=original

"Diss records can't be lies. Great diss records are facts," said Nicki in a post. "But here @ Young Money, we don't do diss records, we drop hit records and diss U on them. I got a bunch more on cock. Pauz. The greats took 3 months to respond to diss records. Queens don't move on peasant time. Queens shut down Paris, then drop hits on #Queentime.

"I love my fans. Y'all the real MVP's. Been writing my own raps since I was 11. God knows. Next week I'll beat Aretha [Franklin] for the most Hot 100 hits on Billboard, by any woman in the world ever in the history of music. Stay in your bum ass place. Jealousy gets u nowhere. Love to all my bad bitches. Now I got a countdown for Sheneneh. U got 72 hours to drop a hit and I'll give you a half a million dollars if u can book any show or interview w/o mentioning the Queen name."

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (ESPN) -- Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones pleaded guilty Tuesday in New Mexico District Court to one count of leaving the scene of an accident, but he will avoid jail time.

Judge Charles W. Brown granted Jones a conditional discharge and sentenced him to supervised probation for up to 18 months. The plea deal allowed Jones to avoid an official conviction of the one felony count, providing he adheres to the deal's conditions.

Jones, 28, pleaded guilty to fleeing the scene of a three-vehicle crash on April 25 in Albuquerque, a crash that resulted in a pregnant woman being treated for injuries. According to witnesses, the crash occurred when Jones ran a red light in his SUV.

The eight-time defending champion reportedly fled the scene on foot after he circled back to grab something from the vehicle. He turned himself in to New Mexico authorities the following day. The UFC stripped Jones of his 205-pound title on April 28.

Shortly after he accepted Jones' plea agreement with the District Attorney's Office, Brown noted, "Mr. Jones, you got real lucky."

The court also granted a request to not limit Jones' ability to travel for his professional career. He was ordered to make 72 appearances at charity or youth outreach programs. He received no fines or fees.

In a brief statement addressed to the court, Jones apologized to the victim, the victim's family, his family and his supporters.

12351773699?profile=original

"I am here to accept full responsibility for what happened and for my actions," Jones said. "I'm really hoping you can give me an opportunity to redeem myself."

Afterward, he released a statement giving a more in-depth apology while adding he doesn't know what his future plans are.

"My actions have caused pain and inconvenience in the lives of others and for that I am truly sorry and I accept full responsibility," Jones said. "I have been working hard during this time away from my sport to grow and mature as a man and to ensure that nothing like this happens again. I have learned a great deal from this situation and I am determined to emerge a better person because of it."

UFC president Dana White attended Tuesday's court hearing. The UFC has not yet provided an official statement on the matter.

12351774082?profile=original

During his arguments in court, Jones' attorney called the April incident a "huge wake-up call" for his client.

At the time of the crash, Jones (21-1) had been scheduled to defend his title against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23. Daniel Cormier (16-1) replaced Jones on the card and won the title by submitting Johnson in the third round. Cormier is scheduled to defend the title against Alexander Gustafsson this weekend in Houston.

Jones is the first champion in UFC history to be stripped of a title because of disciplinary reasons.

In May 2012, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his Bentley into a telephone pole in Binghamton, New York. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DWI and avoided jail time.

Last December, the Nevada State Athletic Commission mistakenly tested Jones for substances of abuse while he was training for a Jan. 3 title defense against Cormier. Jones tested positive for metabolites of cocaine, but he was still allowed to fight, as cocaine is technically not a banned substance out-of-competition. He defeated Cormier via unanimous decision.

Beyonce is out to prove that she has no intention of relinquishing her grip on the title as the current Queen of Pop.

Of course Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna might argue that point, but there is no doubt that Jay-Z's better half put in major work on her new album, titled '4.'

B explained the significance of the the number to MTV UK.

"It's the day I was born. My mother's birthday, and a lot of my friends' birthdays, are on the fourth; April 4 is my wedding date," she said

According to The Sun, B turned in a whopping 72 finished tracks for the album. Leaving the label the though task of having to find the best 14.

"Label staff leave Beyonce to get on with things, they tend not to interfere when she's making an album," a source said. "But they weren't prepared for the sheer volume of material she presented to them. She's clearly been very productive. Now they have the hard job of going through all the music and deciding what will make it."

The new disc is expected sometime this year.

Mexican Navy Guards Slabs Of Cocaine Last Year Video After The Jump (CNN) -- The Mexican Navy discovered 72 dead bodies on a ranch Tuesday in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas, Mexico, a statement released by the agency said. The bodies, 58 of which were men and 14 women, were found above ground in a section of a ranch about 14 miles (22 km) away from the town of San Fernando. The Navy called it one of the largest discoveries of dead bodies in Mexico's 4 year-old war on organized crime. Members of the Mexican Navy were tipped off about the gruesome, makeshift, burial ground after encountering a man who was suffering from a gunshot wound. The man said he had been injured by a criminal gang, according to a statement released by the Navy. "The Navy went to the area where the man came from and encountered gunfights. A naval officer was killed and three of the delinquents were killed," an officer who answered the phone at the Navy's communication department told CNN. The officer, who was not authorized to speak on the record, declined to give his name. During the confrontation, a stash of weapons was found by the Navy, including camouflage uniforms, bullet proof vests and four trucks disguised to look like vehicles from the Ministry of National Defense, according to the statement. The discovery of the 72 bodies was made after the gunfights, according to the navy officer who answered the phone. He said the bodies were located inside a structure on the ranch. "The federal government strongly condemns the barbaric acts committed by criminal organizations and reaffirms its commitment to the rule of law. The whole society must condemn such acts which illustrate the absolute need to continue fighting crime in the strongest terms by the Mexican State to achieve the peace we demand the Mexicans," a statement from the Navy added.
