In 2002 Dr. Dre began working on his highly anticipated "Detox" album. The super-producer is known to have collaborated with Eminem, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, T.I., Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, Skylar Grey, Lil Wayne and others.

Despite a couple of announced release dates the album has yet to see the light of day.

Most hip hop fans have given up hope that they will ever hear the project, but there is still a glimmer of hope.

TMZ reports that on Tuesday, January 9, ESPN's Chris Haynes spotted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee at a Golden State Warriors practice and asked him if "Detox" was dead in the water.

Dre's responded by saying "I'm working on a couple songs right now. We'll see."

Rapper Kevin Gates is a free man.

TMZ reports that the 31-year old Baton Rouge native, born Kevin Gilyard, was released Wednesday morning, January 10, from East Moline Correctional Facility in Illinois. He served 9 months of a 30-month sentence for a 2013 felony gun possession case.

Gates is now on parole, and his release conditions include mandatory supervision and no possession of firearms.

Compton rapper and Top Dawg Entertainment recording artist, Kendrick Lamar, has teamed up with Nike for his own sneaker dubbed the Cortez Kenny 1.

K. Dot sported them during his halftime performance at the Georgia Bulldogs vs the Alabama Crimson Tide NCAA National Football Championship game on Monday, January 8.

The shoes have the trademark Nike Swoosh removed and replaced by the name of K. Dot's latest album, DAMN.

According to Nike, the Cortez Kenny 1 will be released January 26 via the brand’s SNKRS app.

Adult film actress Olivia Nova has passed away. She was 20-years old.

Fox News reports that Nova died on Sunday, January 6, in Las Vegas from unknown causes.

Nova, a Minnesota native, was represented by LA Direct Models. She had appeared in a number of films for Vixen, Naughty America, FTV Girls, New Sensations, Brazzers, Digital Sin and Girlfriends Films since entering the business in March 2017.

LA Direct Models issued the following statement:

“While only represented by Direct Models for a short period of time, we came to know Olivia as a beautiful girl with a very sweet and gentle personality,” LA Direct Models said. “It is understood next of kin have been informed. Another one, way too young we are beyond shocked and most certainly, completely out of the blue. Rest in peace, sweet angel."

Nova is fourth porn actress to die within the last four months. August Ames, 23, hung herself in August. Turi Luv, 31, died of a drug overdose the same month and Shyla Stylez, 35, died in her sleep in November.

Joe Budden has been become known for being very opinionated. He generally speaks his mind on his podcast, but it was still surprising when he was critical of Eminem's "Untouchable" single, given the fact that his group Slaughterhouse is signed to Shady Records.

"That new fucking Eminem song is trash," Budden said last month. "I'm talking about the new one. That Untouchable shit. It's really, really bad. That Untouchable Eminem record is one of the worst records I've ever heard."

On Monday, January 8, Eminem released the remix to "Chloraseptic," which contained a subliminal shot at Budden.

Bizarre of D12 used the opportunity to let off rounds at Budden via Twitter. Peep the exchange below.

The follow up to Migos' 2017 RIAA certified platinum album, "Culture," will soon arrive. While there is no official release date for "Culture II" yet, group member Quavo confirmed via Twitter Monday, January 8, that the project is now in the mixing stage.

The 26-year old Atlanta rapper also gave a shout out to the Georgia Bulldogs as they prepare to play the Alabama Crimson Tide tonight in college football's National Championship game.

Eminem is pissed off at critics of his "Revival" album and lets the world know on the remix to "Chloraseptic." It features an all new verse from the Detroit rapper, in addition to contributions from 2 Chainz and Phresher.

"Not as raw as I was/'Walk on Water' sucked?/Bitch, suck my dick," Em raps. "Y'all saw the tracklist and had a fit/Before you heard it/So you formed your verdict/While you sat with your arms crossed/Did your little reaction videos and talked over songs."

Chris Brown's feud with former friend and collaborator Kevin McCall has gotten out of control.

TMZ reports that McCall was shot in the foot Wednesday as he left a convenience store in South Central Los Angeles.

The singer suffered 3 broken toes and a fractured tibia.

Rumors popped up that either McCall accidentally shot himself (which he denied) or Brown was somehow involved.

Responding to the Brown rumor on Twitter Saturday, January 6, McCall made an ominous statement that could easily be interpreted as a threat on Brown and his daughter Royalty's lives.

“Chris Brown and his Seed would be in a Casket if he had anything to do with me being shot,” McCall tweeted. "Stop playing with rumors or I can't promise CB will make 29! I kept him alive 7 years now in L.A. Don't take the humbleness you see in me as weakness."

McCall deleted the tweet and later attempted to clarify what he meant.

"I don’t see wat I said wrong. The Bible says and eye for and eye...Chris didn’t do it so don’t bring his name up in my life and death situation because you playing with gossip but L.A ain’t a game. I didn’t threaten anyone I told you how life would play out. I saved him hella X’s," he wrote. "If I get touched people will die. Who wants to try it out? I don’t. I’ve been shot it hurts. I’m saying leave da Gangsta shit ALONE leave them rumors alone or you gonna make L.A people tear shit up -I can’t keep the Pitbull a under control when they hungry they even bite They own."

O.J. Simpson is bringing out the legal guns in his fight against The Cosmopolitan Hotel of Las Vegas.

Last November Simpson was kicked off of the property by security after allegedly becoming drunk and belligerent. The casino later announced that he was permanently banned.

In a letter to The Cosmopolitan that was distributed to media outlets Friday, January 5, Simpson’s attorney Malcolm LaVergne claims the “casino staff, employees, agents, and other higher-level decision makers or affiliates, including STK Las Vegas and Clique Bar & Lounge, acted with malice and racial prejudice” toward Simpson.

Simpson plans to sue for at least $100 million.

The incident happened a little over a month after the former football star was released from a Nevada prison, following 9 years on incarceration for kidnapping and armed robbery.

Steph Curry believes he and Diddy are moving in the right direction in their pursuit to buy the Carolina Panthers.

TMZ Sports caught up with the Golden State Warriors star in Hollywood on Friday night, January 5, to get an update.

"We're closer than we were yesterday, for sure. This is a real thing, so hopefully it happens sooner than later," Curry said, while walking with his wife Ayesha. "I've talked to Diddy for sure. Kind of let the whole thing play out. Lot of work to do though."

Diddy announced his desire to buy the NFL franchise last month after Panthers owner and founder Jerry Richardson announced December 17 he was putting the team up for sale.

Richardson is being investigated by the league for alleged workplace misconduct.

Jon Gruden has secured the bag and will ink a 10-year contract likely approaching $100 million to coach the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN.

The job became available after the Raiders fired Jack Del Rio following the regular-season finale on Sunday.

This will be Gruden's second stint with the Raiders. He coached the team from 1998 to 2001.

Gruden will no doubt be looking for another championship. He led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl XXXVII win in 2003, one year after being traded there by the Raiders. He has a career 95-81 record in the regular season while going 5-4 in the postseason.

The 54-year old Sandusky, Ohio native's return to coaching follows a nearly nine-year run as an ESPN analyst. When the contract is made official on Tuesday, January 9, Gruden will become only the third head coach in NFL history to get a 10-year deal. Following Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson.
