ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - It's the perfect spot to catch a game when you can in person. But a suite at Al Lang Stadium turned into one man's home. A cleaning crew found the evidence on Sunday.
"It was clear that someone had been living there," said Yolanda Fernandez with the St. Petersburg Police Department. "There were blankets and personal items like shaving cream like someone had been using."
The Rowdies knew something was up. They went to their surveillance footage and found a man they didn't recognize.
"They realized this man had been walking around, going to the merchandise store, wearing the merchandise and going to where the food kept and helping himself," said Fernandez.
St. Petersburg police said that person was a homeless man named Daniel Neja. They said he made himself right at home.
"He went into where the players have their personal items and helped himself to some of their clothing items and really made himself at home in the stadium," said Fernandez.
An arrest report shows he stole $1,043 in team merchandise and helped himself to $250 worth of drinks.
This is the second time Neja was arrested for something like this. In June, Hillsborough Deputies arrested him for breaking into Lutz Elementary School. He told deputies he did it to "Get some food."
How he got into Al Lang unnoticed and undetected for so long, remains unknown.
"Normally those large venues are used all the time, they’re full of thousands of people. He was able to come in and nobody noticed him," said Fernandez.
Neja is behind bars at the Pinellas County Jail. He's charged with burglary and resisting arrest without violence. His bond is set at $5,150.
CNN’s Don Lemon on Thursday slammed President Donald Trump for using the same racist attacks on presumptive Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris that he used on former President Barack Obama.
“Every single day, another lie, another conspiracy theory, another racist dog whistle,” Lemon began Thursday’s broadcast of “CNN Tonight.”
“It’s like the Groundhog’s Day for alternative realities,” he continued. “It is clear that this president will stop at nothing to try to win reelection, using everything at his disposal to achieve his goal.”
During a White House briefing earlier on Thursday, Trump did not explicitly dismiss a birther conspiracy theory about Harris, who was born in California. The baseless claim had been raised by a law professor in a discredited op-ed for Newsweek.
“Can you believe it? Is it 2011 all over again? What is going on?” Lemon asked. “Birtherism now against Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s vice presidential nominee, who is a Black woman. Does that ring a bell to you?”
“This man is so full of it, y’all. Come on, he knows better than that,” Lemon said, later adding that there’s “no other words but disgusting and racist” to describe “a white man questioning a Black woman’s birthplace in America in 2020.”

Love for Nipsey Hussle spans the globe. His tragic death is impossible to comprehend, but fans and rappers from coast to coast still hold the legendary Los Angeles emcee near and dear to their hearts.
With today being what would have been Nipsey's 35th birthday, we remember and pay tribute to the iconic artist and businessman.
Born Ermias Joseph Asghedom, the "Last Time That I Checc'd" rapper knew what he wanted to accomplish in life at an early age and made it come to fruition.
Nipsey's mixtapes "Slauson Boy," "The Marathon," "The Marathon Continues," "Crenshaw," "Mailbox Money" and "Bullets Ain't Got No Name" built a loyal and sizable fan base. They also caught the attention of record labels and established artists.
When "Crenshaw" dropped in 2013, Nipsey released 1,000 limited edition copies for $100 each. Jay-Z bought 100 of them.
On February 16, 2018, his debut album "Victory Lap" was released. The project was a commercial success and received high marks from critics. It was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy Awards.
At the time of his passing Nipsey owned his own record label, All Money In, and The Marathon Clothing store, which was located in the Crenshaw neighborhood he grew up in.
He definitely would have achieved much more success in music and business in future years.
We tip our hat to the young entrepreneur. He's missed and will forever be remembered as The Marathon Continues.

WILSON, N.C. (WNCN) — The community in Wilson came together Thursday night to say goodbye to one of their own.
Cannon Hinnant was just 5 years old. He was shot and killed in his own front yard. His neighbor is charged with murder.
Cannon’s family and friends are devastated as they try to wrap their minds around the loss.
“We shouldn’t even be here,” said Merrill Race, Cannon’s great grandfather.
Hundreds came out to the Shingleton Funeral Home in Wilson to pay their respects to the boy.
“Just a kid trying to have fun in his own yard and something like this happens. It’s despicable,” Race said.
Race said he was with Cannon just a few weekends ago. He said the 5 -year-old loved his bike and his two sisters.
“This guy took something away from us that should have never happened,” he explained.
“The words to explain…everything, he just loved everything. Everybody,” Lee Parker, Cannon’s stepfather said. “I could sit here for days, I just there are no words or no amount of money that’s going to bring him back.”
The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Archers Road.
His family said Cannon was riding his bike in the front yard when he was shot at point blank range.
Wilson police identifed the Hinnant’s neighbor, Darrius Sessoms, as the suspect.
Sessoms, 25, was arrested Monday in Goldsboro.
Cannon’s father said Sessoms lived next door to them for years.
The boy’s after said they had shared a beer the night before. The family told CBS 17 there was no history of fights or animosity. None of it added up.
While the grief is overwhelming, the family said the support they’ve received from the community in Wilson and beyond has helped.
“It’s amazing. It’s amazing. And the things that people have done for us, all around from Australia, Ohio, Colorado. I mean it don’t stop. It’s all around the world,” Parker said.
A community vigil that was planned for Friday evening has been postponed at the family’s request. They said they hope to hold some kind of gathering in about two weeks.

The teenager stabbed and set on fire in the Bronx had recently been dating his alleged killer’s 14-year-old sister, law enforcement sources and the family said Thursday.
Adones Betances — who lives about five blocks from alleged victim Winston Ortiz, 18 — was enraged by the age gap between the two, the sources said.
He’s accused of stabbing Ortiz three times before dousing him with gasoline and lighting him on fire on the fifth floor of a Highbridge building near their homes Wednesday afternoon.
Sources said Bentances, 22, walked into the building just 10 minutes before Ortiz as part of a planned attack.
“I still can’t believe it. What goes through your mind to do something like that?,” Ortiz’s younger brother, Wilmer, 17, said outside the family’s apartment Thursday night.
He confirmed that his brother had been in a relationship with the suspect’s younger sister, but said that she’d ended it Wednesday.
“I’m pretty sure this all had to do with a breakup that he had been dealing with yesterday,” Wilmer said. “This is [his ex-girlfriend’s] older brother we’re talking about.”
The teen said he didn’t remember why the girl broke things off with his brother, but that it was “something about him being too overprotective,” adding, “But I don’t know what that means.”
His brother, a student at Metropolitan Lifehouse Charter School, had been “very emotionally distraught” over the split, Wilmer said.
The teen’s screams around 3 p.m. Wednesday alerted neighbors, who doused the flames with buckets of water.
Police said Ortiz was stabbed twice in the back and once in the chest and suffered burns over 90 percent of his body.
The dying teenager identified his alleged killer when cops got to the scene, according to sources — who said Betances casually took his girlfriend out to dinner after the fatal attack.
“No amount of criminal punishment will make up for the fact that he took a life away,” said the victim’s brother. “I’m sad someone felt obligated to do this.”
Betances claimed he was framed following his arrest Thursday. He is being held on murder and manslaughter charges.
