2009 is behind us and the hype machine is starting to rev up on artists and albums for 2010. The interesting thing about "most anticipated albums" lists is that in many cases the hype proves to be far superior to the finished product.
But that doesn't really matter at this time of the year. So let's take a look at Vibe's 2010 list of albums they think we most want to hear.
# 10
Andre 3000, TBD
Release Date: 2010?Expected Production: A studio loner, it’s likely Three Stacks’ solo LP will be mostly self-produced, but don’t count out Outkast affiliates Rico Wade or DJ Swift.
Expected Collaborations: If 2003's The Love Below is any indication, Andre will keep the guest list extra-exclusive. Partner-in-rhyme Big Boi may be the one and only guest spot, if any.
Why The Buzz? Hip-hop heads collectively sighed after discovering Andre Benjamin’s deeper-than-rap raps were replaced by idiosyncratic crooning on his first solo effort, The Love Below. Today, lyricists from Fabolous to T.I. are hitting notes, and maybe that’s a good thing––for them––because each infrequent verse from ’Dre threatens that coveted hottest rapper alive title. While his inclusion here is wishful thinking, lets just hope his long-awaited rap LP isn’t on a Detox-like schedule.
# 9
Nas and Damien Marley, Distant Relatives (Tuff Gong/Def Jam)Release Date: March 16, 2010Production: Damien and brother Stephen handle the bulk of the album, but 9th Wonder and long time Nas collaborator Salaam Remi chip in also.
Expected Collaborations: Somali rhymer K’naan is featured on two cuts, while songstress Joss stone and legend Stevie Wonder lend their vocals for “Our Generation.”
Why the Buzz? For the first time, reggae and hip-hop unite for an entire album. And who better kick off such a happening than two of the best to do it in their respectable arenas? God’s Son and Bob’s son will both preach and teach as expected, but also entertain. “As We Enter,” the album’s first leak, promises the project’s going to be equal parts “patois and rap star.”
# 8
Erykah Badu, New Amerykah, Part II (Return of the Ankh) (Universal Motown)Release Date: Feb. 23, 2010Expected Production: An eclectic lineup that includes 9th Wonder, Sa-Ra, James Poyser, Madlib, Karriem Riggins, the late J. Dilla and Ms. Badu herself.
Expected Collaborations: Roots band leader/drummer ?uestlove offers his masterful hands. But the Lil Wayne-featured track “Jump in the Air” (one of 10 versions of a two-fisted, rap-funk sound clash that will feature 10 MC’s) is floating around the web via leaked download.
Why the Buzz? The usually forward-thinking Badu gives a sincere nod to her jazzy torch song style that first made her a neo-soul superstar with 1997’s Baduizm, making it one of her most accessible projects to date. Still, there’s plenty of the left field brilliance of 2008’s critically acclaimed standout New Amerykah, Pt. 1: 4th World War.
# 7
T.I., TBD (Grand Hustle/Atlantic)Expected Release: TBDPossible Production: Tip should have plenty of options. Expect him to pull from the likes of Just Blaze, DJ Toomp, Swizz Beatz and Kanye West.
Possible Collaborations: In the past, T.I.’s worked with everyone from Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes to Justin Timberlake and Rihanna, so we expect more high-caliber cameos. An Alfa Mega sighting––not so much.
Why the Buzz? T.I.’s only halfway out of jail, but reportedly already all the way back in the studio. For roughly six months, the king’s been absent from his throne. Gucci Mane (now imprisoned) and a host of other Southern style MCs have emerged during his leave. We’re anxious to see if he’ll put them back in their place.
# 6
Lupe Fiasco, Lasers (Atlantic)Expected Release: Spring 2010Expected Production: Instead of shelling out top dollars for super producers, Lupe works exclusively with his 1st & 15th producers Soundtrakk and Prolyfic.
Expected Collaborations: Contributions from his stable of artists, including Gemstones and Nikki Jean
Why the Buzz? While in the past Lupe dazzled true hip-hop heads with his intricate wordplay, he’s always shirked the spotlight. After reneging on retiring from the game, though, he’s now out to prove he should be No. 1 on everybody’s list (see: his Thanksgiving mixtape, Enemy of the State). Which means more work for those still decoding metaphors from his last two albums, 2006’s Food & Liquor and 2007’s The Cool.
# 5
Young Jeezy, Thug Motivation 103 (Def Jam)Release Date: Feb. 9, 2010Expected Production: Kanye West is the first producer invited to Mr. Birthday Bash’s motivation party. After assisting Mr. West in Hawaii with 808s & Heartbreak in 2008, expect the “Put On” creator to give Jeezy a bunch of tools to teach. Southern beats kings Shawty Redd, Zaytoven and Drumma Boy will also lend a hand.
Expected Collaborations: Nothing is confirmed yet, but Jeezy reportedly has a wish list that includes Lil Wayne (featured on the leaked “Scared Money”), Eminem, Jay-Z and Kanye.
Why the Buzz? On his last album, The Recession, Jeezy took a break from talking about what could be to rap about what is. With the America’s economy headed back in the right direction, the snowman’s back to being the trap’s go-to professor. Class is back in session.
# 4
Sade, Soldier of Love (Epic)Release Date: February 8, 2010Expected Production: Producer Mike Pela has handled the boards since the smoky vocalist’s 1984 debut Diamond Life and will be featured on her sixth studio effort.
Expected Collaborations: Sade’s longtime bandmates, which include steady guitarist, sax man Stuart Matthewman and keyboardist Andre Hale, once again share writing duties with the Nigeria-born Brit.
Why the Buzz? Sade’s first new studio album since 2000’s Lover’s Rock has all the classic, haunting, soul searching hallmarks of her previous releases, as well as a few curve pitches. The title track and first single “Soldier of Love” sounds like a Sade-led Portishead scoring a ‘60s-era Sergio Leone spaghetti western while the groove-heavy “Bring Me Home” is destined to become a freestyle favorite for underground MC’s.
# 3
Usher, Raymond vs. Raymond (LaFace)Expected Release Date: March 2010Possible Production: Ursh is getting help from old favorites like Jermaine Dupri, Sean Garrett, Rico Love, The Neptunes and Polow Da Don.
Expected Collaborations: Usher’s sixth set will feature a few rappers including Nicki Minaj (as heard on the leaked “Little Freak”), Plies on “Hey Daddy” and possibly Jay-Z.
Why the Buzz? In an era where most artists pray for a gold album, Usher cursed the fact that he only went platinum with his mild-mannered 2008 effort Here I Stand. But Mr. Entertainment’s single again, meaning that he’s cutting the monogamous lyrics loose and is back to macking like it’s 2004.
# 2
Kanye West, TBD (G.O.O.D./Def Jam)Expected Release: Summer 2010Possible Production: As usual, West is expected to handle the majority of the album's melodies.
Possible Collaborations: Big brother Jay-Z will likely make an appearance along with Young Jeezy. Members of West’s G.O.O.D. team, Common, Mr. Hudson and Kid Cudi may also come aboard.
Why the Buzz? After taking three months off to get his clear his mind, it appears Mr. West has more to say than ever. And he's starting fresh; as 'Ye's blog tells it, he made his grand return to the studio on New Year's Day. 808s & Heartbreak, his eccentrically emo 2008 effort, featured the rapper singing his Auto-Tuned heart out. We're hoping ‘Ye’s next effort will be a hybrid of heart-on-sleeve croons and boisterous rhymes. Just look at all the cheers he received when he crashed Kid Cudi’s Nokia Theater stage last week. They’re ready. And it appears he is, too.
# 1
Drake, Thank Me Later (Universal)Expected Release: March 2010Expected Production: His longtime collaborators Omen, 40 and Boi-1Da (“Best I Ever Had”). He also has studio sessions with Kanye West scheduled this January.
Expected Collaborations: Confirmed guests include Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Bun B. And, last we heard, Drake was looking to nab Sade.
Why the Buzz? On top of a classic mixtape (that’s right, classic) and an Eminem collabo, the golden boy of 2009 has one of the most anticipated debuts since 50 Cent. In many eyes, Drizzy hasn’t spit a horrible verse or song yet (see: “Forever,” “Fear”), so the ball is his to drop. But with his sing-songy flow and witty stanzas, failure is unlikely.

50 Cent is set to sign British star Jamelia to his record label- according to reports.
The rapper hooked up with the Superstar singer when he was in the UK recently for the Dead Man Running premiere.
And apparently she’s exactly what Fiddy wants for his G Unit group of artists.
He was reportedly impressed by Jamelia’s attitude and is keen to sign a girl to the label.
Jamelia recently revealed she’s been working with a host of US producers, but signing with Mr. Cent will certainly open more doors.

Sports broadcasting will enter a new dimension in 2010 ... the third dimension, as ESPN will unveil the industry's first 3D network.
ESPN 3D will showcase a minimum of 85 live sporting events during its first year, beginning June 11 with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match, featuring South Africa vs. Mexico, ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer announced.
Other events to be produced in 3D include the 2011 BCS National Championship game, college basketball and football contests, up to 25 World Cup matches and the Summer X Games. Additional events will be announced at a later date.
"ESPN's commitment to 3D is a win for fans and our business partners," Bodenheimer said. "ESPN 3D marries great content with new technology to enhance the fan's viewing experience and puts ESPN at the forefront of the next big advance for TV viewing."
ESPN has been testing ESPN 3D for more than two years, even showing a USC-Ohio State college football game in select theaters and to 6,000 fans at the Galen Center on USC's campus.

There are no more breaks in the music industry, especially in the streets. During the holiday season, cats were either dropping mixtapes or hyping up releases that are soon to come. Fab, don't worry. We're not gonna sweat you over not dropping on Christmas as promised. As long as you bring that Loso quality, we'll wait. Lupe and DJ Absolut coming soon? We're definitely anticipating that one, as well as Jay Electronica's new tape. Is there anything out right now as dope as "Exhibit C"? Styles P and Green Lantern coming next month? Young Jeezy promising to come any day now? 2010 is going to be a nutty first quarter, and that's just on the streets. In any event, here is a special edition of Don't Sleep, where we highlight some of the tapes that came in the past several days.Don't Sleep: Necessary Notables
» Lloyd Banks' V5DJ Collaborator: DJ Whoo Kid
Necessary Notes: Banks isn't pulling any punches. You should've seen all the smiles on the faces on Jamaica Avenue in Queens when the bootlegger opened up a box of brand-new burned copies of Banks' latest installment of microphone terror. Banks sounds a little hungrier on this one (his voice is raspier and louder on tracks like "Sh---y City 2"). The early word from the Unit is that the crazy mofo named Banko is going to actually drop an LP this year in addition to all the underground heat.
Can't-Miss Tracks: "Power Back" and "Rather Be Me"
» Bow Wow's G2 (Greenlight 2)DJ Collaborators: DJ Ill Will and DJ RockstarNecessary Notes: That retirement Bow talked about in the wake of his last LP, New Jack City II (released in April 2009), was shorter than WWE wrestler Hornswoggle's. The 22-year-old Ohio player (he lives in MIA now, BTW) was back to dropping freestyles in no time. He even signed a brand-new record deal with Cash Money last year and has a new album due for this summer. As we learned from the original Greenlight, everything's a go. This is not your little's sister's Bow Wow anymore. How could he top the first Greenlight's shock value of "Regrets," on which he talked about sipping syrup, smoking weed and being high out of his mind? Well, Bow, fresh off the set of his film "Lottery Ticket," shouts out that purp on "I Do This" to open the mixtape. He also warns Diddy that he has eyes for Cassie on the You So remix of "Say Something." Also, for a little trip down memory lane, check out the video for a Mixtape Daily interview with Bow from early 2009.

2009 was a huge year for Wu-Tang member, Raekwon. His album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 2, made multiple year-end lists and was considered one of the best albums of the year.
For the New Year, the rapper made a big announcement for fans: that he would be dropping two more new albums in 2010.
He revealed the news on his Twitter page (@RaekwonIcewater): "O, I forgot my announcement on Jan. 1 to give y'all, so [I'm going to] tell ya now! I will be droppin' 2 albums this year!"
Throughout his career, Rae has only released four solo projects. His most successful being his debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..., and its follow-up in 2009. 1999's Immobilarity eventually reached gold status, but 2003's The Lex Diamond Story was less than stellar.
But, with 2009's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... 2, the rapper's buzz is at a new high, and fans are excited for what's next.

The beef between Alfamega and his former Grand Hustle Camp seems to have taken a turn for the worse.
In a story reported by AllHipHop, Alfamega confirms that both his daughter and son suffered serious injuries stemming from a fight between them and people associated with T.I.
According to the report, his daughter was involved in an altercation at Club Crucial. A nightclub in Atlanta co-owned by T.I. and his uncle. The fight left her with several stab wounds and a collapsed lung. Her brother tried to intervene on her behalf and suffered a broken jaw.
Alfamega is quoted as saying:
"I had a talk with Tip’s uncle Derrick, who co-owns Club Crucial.
I was like ‘my daughter got stabbed up there dog and my son got his jaw fractured. He ‘was like huh? I didn’t know that.’ They didn’t know, they people they got into it with didn’t know they were my children. I was told that my children wasn’t in the wrong. The girls and the dudes attacked her and stabbed her and basically my son jumped in cause they were attacking his sister and somebody hit him from the blindside.”
The incident occurred on Christmas Eve (December 24), just two days after T.I. was released from a low security prison facility in Arkansas, after serving less than a year for possession of machine guns and silencers.
Alfamega and T.I. have been involved in a feud ever since The Smoking Gun published documents last year that revealed Alfamega had been a confidential informant. The revelation led to him being kicked from Grand Hustle by T.I.
Alfamega contends the attack on his children had nothing to do with his beef with T.I.
“I straight up told the dudes there wouldn’t be any street retaliation behind it, even though there might be others that don’t feel the same way I do that surround me, And at the end of the day, it’s all about what I want to do. And I don’t want no street retaliation of violence. It’s a new year. And all in a nutshell they didn’t know. I would look at it different if they knew they was my children. And I don’t wish that upon nobodies children.”

With time running out to save a potential March 13 megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., the camps are heading to mediation on Tuesday in an effort to work out their differences.
Mediator Daniel Weinstein will preside over the meeting in Santa Monica, Calif. Weinstein, a retired federal judge, also mediated the acrimonious dispute that kept Top Rank, Pacquiao's promoter, and Golden Boy, which represents Mayweather, from doing fights together for almost two years.
"We're going into mediation," Top Rank chairman Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, told ESPN.com. "This guy was successful resolving our nutty problem before and hopefully he can be successful this time. He's a guy who is a big fight fan and loves the sport, and I found him last time to be a delight to deal with. Everybody did."
At the time of the previous mediation, the companies had several ongoing lawsuits, including the one at the center of the bad blood: ownership of the promotional rights to Pacquiao, who had signed contracts with both companies before eventually pledging his loyalty to Top Rank.
When the disputes were settled in June 2007, Arum and Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer both credited Weinstein's steady hand for getting them to reach an accord. Under the global settlement, Top Rank retained Pacquiao's promotional rights with Golden Boy receiving a percentage of Top Rank's profit from his future bouts.
The hope is that Weinstein can once again help the sides see their way through what has become an increasingly nasty battle in an effort to finalize the bout between welterweight titlist Pacquiao and Mayweather, the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, in a fight many believe will break the pay-per-view record of 2.44 million buys. Mayweather's 2007 fight with Golden Boy president Oscar De La Hoya set the record.
AOL Fanhouse first reported the mediation plans Sunday night.
Top Rank and Golden Boy have agreed on all points on the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight except for one: The protocol for drug testing.
Even though the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which would oversee the bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, doesn't require blood testing, Mayweather has insisted on random blood testing. Both sides have already agreed to unlimited random urine testing.
Pacquiao has refused training camp-long random blood testing, agreeing only to three tests, one during the week of the kickoff news conference, which would take place in the next week or so if they finalize the fight, one random test to be conducted no later than 30 days before the fight and a final test in his dressing room after the fight.
Mayweather would be subject to the same testing procedures.
One issue sure to be discussed in front of the mediator is the impact of the defamation lawsuit Pacquiao filed last week in Nevada U.S. District Court against Mayweather Jr., Schaefer, De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather Sr., Roger Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions.
In the suit, Pacquiao alleges they made false and defamatory statements and sullied his reputation by accusing him of taking performance-enhancing drugs. Pacquiao denies he has ever used PEDs and has never failed a drug test.
If mediation fails, and the fight does not get made, Arum said he will match Pacquiao with junior middleweight titlist Yuri Foreman, whom he also promotes, on March 20 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas so Pacquiao could attempt to win a title in a record eighth weight division.
Mayweather could still fight on March 13 at the MGM and potentially face former junior welterweight titlist Paulie Malignaggi.

It's almost as though everything rapper Jay-Z touches now resonates a sense to others that he engages in devil worship and is part of the Illuminati.
With the visual to “Run This Town” many speculated that Jay was providing a glimpse into the new world order and with his recent music video “On To The Next One”, some feel that Hov has become blatant with his references to embracing evil.
As a known associate of the Brooklyn native, Talib Kweli decided to step into the fray and defend claims against the rapper along with Rihanna and his personal friend Kanye West through Twitter.
RealTalibKweli: So JayZ Kanye and Rhiannaare illuminati now? Y'all need to step y'all conspiracy theories up. #LAME
Real Talib Kweli: Somebody prove to me that JayZ and his cohorts are illuminati. Besides images from videos and on Rocawear gear, speculatory internet stuff
With all of the real world issues that are consuming the world, Kweli feels that there could be focus placed on things that matter more than a music video and trying to actually decipher each and every image presented in it.
Such a move might sway his own fan base, but the reality of the situation is the fact that religion has heavily transitioned from something that was created in order to establish belief and hope for some into a chopping block where those that might have different opinions are shunned and deemed as representing something evil.
Without proper knowledge, however, many that speak are best to keep their mouths shut as a lack of evidence only results in a cycle of ignorance spewing from the mouth.
RealTalibKweli: I mean there are real forms of systematic oppression y'all could be making You Tube vids about. For real.
RealTalibKweli: so, if you aint Christian or dont promote christianity you illuminati? I got it now. WWJD?
RealTalbiKweli: For the record. I LOVE Jesus. I love the contributions churches can make to society, esp. the black church during slavery.
RealTalibKweli: I just dont subscribe to a particular religion. I love the prophet Muhammad, and Abraham. I learn from Buddhism, taoism
RealTalibKweli: I read Illuminati 666 Behold A Pale Horse, New Word Order, the Matrix series etc. In college.
For those that believe Jay-Z is actually Illuminati, where do you believe it will actually lead to since everyone is persecuting him at such a rapid rate.

According to reports, Shawty Redd shot and killed the man as the two argued for unknown reasons.
A detective with the Henry County police department confirmed that only one gun was found in the shooting - the one used to kill Damon Martin, of Detroit - and that no weapons were drawn on the hit making producer.
The detective also confirmed that Shawty Redd was the only other person in the house with the man at the time of the shooting.

According to reports, the producer is cooperating with detectives. A bond hearing is slated for January 12.

In what can only be described as strange. Rap giant Jay-Z has offered to help British singing star Robbie Williams plan his upcoming wedding to actress Ayda Field.
Jigga has been showing the UK a lot of love recently. From hanging out with Chris Martin of Coldplay, to singing an Oasis song "Wonderwall" at the Glastonberry Festival. Now he's planning a wedding for one of the UK's biggest pop singers.
The rapper from Brooklyn's Marcy Projects told The Sun
"I would be happy to help Robbie organize his wedding. I am sure he will make it an extravagant party.
I had my 40th last month in the Dominican Republic. That would be a great place for Robbie's wedding. It's the most stunning place on earth. It has everything - beautiful beaches, scenery, golf courses - and is easy to fly guests to.
The entertainment at my party was all hot and if Robbie wants my help he should come over for dinner and Bey and I can help him out. She is great at organizing parties, she loves it.
I don't know what Robbie's entertainment plans are but, as a wedding present, I would get up after the speeches and do a little set."
Robbie Williams and Ayda Field
I guess Jay-Z feels like an expert on the matter since marrying Beyonce. What's next for Hov I wonder, pottery, knitting perhaps?
I'm just saying....
