Video After The Jump ARLINGTON, Va. — An Army specialist is in jail, accused of making threats against fellow soldiers, including in a vulgar, violent rap song that describes shooting those responsible for his stop-loss orders. Spc. Marc Hall, an Iraq veteran based at Fort Stewart, Ga., has been in custody since early December. He’s been charged with “conduct prejudicial to the good order and discipline of the armed forces,” allegedly threatening violence on multiple occasions, according to Army charge sheets. Hall is accused in various specifications of threatening to “go on a rampage,” attack other soldiers if he was deployed, and shoot the brigade and battalion commanders. Another count accuses him of distributing “original songs wrongfully threatening acts of violence against members of his unit.” Hall reportedly mailed a copy of the song to the Pentagon after receiving his stop-loss orders over the summer. The song, posted on Hall’s personal Web site, does not name anyone specifically. “[Expletive] you colonels, captains, E-7 and above You think you so much bigger than I am? ... I’m gonna round them up all eventually, easily, walk right up peacefully And surprise them all, yes, yes, y’all, up against the wall, turn around I got a [expletive] magazine with 30 rounds, on a three-round burst, ready to fire down Still against the wall, I grab my M-4, spray and watch all the bodies hit the floor I bet you never stop-loss nobody no more.”The chain of command has a legal obligation to the citizens of the United States to investigate and deal fairly with SPC Hall’s alleged misconduct,” Kevin Larson, a spokesman at Fort Stewart, said in an e-mail. “Anything less would be irresponsible to our citizens and soldiers.James Klimaski, a Washington-based lawyer, said that Iraq Veterans Against the War, an anti-war group to which Hall belongs, is trying to raise enough money for Hall to hire him as his civilian attorney. While Hall is jailed, his unit has deployed to Iraq without him, according to Klimaski. Hall’s song is just a song and should not be taken literally, the lawyer said. “Listen to rap songs,” Klimaski said. “I mean there are a whole bunch of rap songs talking about killing people all the time. Nobody gets killed from them.” Klimaski also downplayed the allegations that Hall made additional threats. “The problem with threats is they can’t be contingent,” he said. “ ‘I will do this if ...’ Well that’s not a threat because if ‘if’ doesn’t happen, then there’s no threat. Like, let’s say, ‘I’m going to shoot the battalion commander if I’m deployed.’ Well he’s not been deployed, so he’s not going to shoot the battalion commander, so there’s no threat.” Klimaski also said the definition of rampage means to run around like a crazy person. “That’s not a threat,” he said. Hall’s arrest came a little more than a month after Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas. Afterward, the military and law enforcement services were criticized for failing to heed what many said were signs that Hasan might commit violence. Among the signs were online postings sympathizing with Muslim suicide bombers and his vocal assertions that wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were wars against Islam. Klimaski added that those who are a true threat typically don’t advertise their intentions. “Maj. Hasan didn’t run around and say, ‘Hey, I’m going to blow people away at the hospital, or the infirmary today.’ Or the bomber going into Detroit says, ‘Oh, I should tell everyone I’m on this plane and blow the plane up,’” he said. Video After The Jump Drake has been spoiled by the mixtape game. With So Far Gone, he dropped the entire body of work and let the people pick their favorite records (Drake's is " A Night Off" with Lloyd, if you were wondering). His album Thank Me Later is still on tap for a March release and despite what you've heard about songs such as "Fireworks" and "Light Up," the 23-year-old said he has yet to pick a single. "A single? I haven't really figured it out," he said. "With So Far Gone it was the same thing — 'Best I Ever Had' was the second-to-last song I did. When I did it, I was like, 'Cool, it adds a little bounce to [the mixtape],' but I wasn't crazy about it. And that song went #1. That's the one thing that's weird about working on this project, is that I have to choose a single before you actually hear it. I like when people dictate. But I can't wait until March to put out a single, I have to pick one. But I'll figure it out ... when I have a couple more joints. I know the direction I want it to go. I definitely know I want it to connect with the women again. I think that's always important for me. On the album everybody will get their moment. Whatever you like or love about Drake will be there."
Some of Drizzy's recordings will be produced by Kanye West — they've already made music for the album and have plans to connect for a last time before Thank Me Later closes up shop. All those conspiracy theorists who claimed that Kanye sabotaged Drake when he directed the video for "Best I Ever Had" can close out that argument as well — Drake maintains the video is exactly what he wanted, he just wished he could have shot it with a bigger budget. "I don't really care about catching flack," Drake said about fans that were less than pleased with the video collaboration. "Everybody is not gonna love everything we do ... "That'll never stop me and Kanye from working together," he added. "Me and Kanye, when we do come together, it's great. We have great chemistry. That definitely won't halt us from giving people what they deserve. In a couple of weeks I'm going to Hawaii so I can work with him and No ID some more." When asked about the songs they already have in the can, Drake said they were so dope they didn't need hyping. "It's not much to say — we got some great songs," he noted. "Kanye just brought extra brushes to the painting session. He just brought some more colors so we can complete this masterpiece. I know he's eager to complete his record too, so he's back in that music mode which is great. He was in clothing mode for a second ... now I think he's back and ready to make this all happen." The much-anticipated showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, tentatively scheduled for March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, has collapsed, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Wednesday night. "The fight's off," Arum, who promotes Pacquiao, said from Las Vegas. The fight died after a last-ditch attempt at mediation between Top Rank and Golden Boy, which represents Mayweather, failed in an effort to determine the drug testing protocol. The fight died after a last-ditch attempt at mediation failed in an effort to determine the drug testing protocol. Pacquiao had agreed to move off his hard-line stance of refusing a blood test inside 30 days before the fight, but Mayweather wouldn't budge off his desire for random testing all the way until the fight, Arum said. Nor would Mayweather agree to a public apology for remarks he made accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs, Arum said. "I am very disappointed that we could not make this fight for the fans and I am angered because of the false accusations from Golden Boy and the Mayweather camp that I used some type of drugs, and that is why I have instructed our American lawyers to proceed with the lawsuit to clear my name," Pacquiao said in a statement Arum said Pacquiao would move on and likely fight junior middleweight titlist Yuri Foreman on March 13 or March 20. The fight was to have been on HBO PPV, a sure blockbuster many believed would break the all-time pay-per-view record of 2.44 million buys set by Mayweather's 2007 fight with Oscar De La Hoya, who owns Golden Boy Promotions. But Arum said he had informed HBO PPV boss Mark Taffet that the fight was off. Had the fight done the monster numbers organizers expected, it would have likely generated in the neighborhood of $200 million with the fighters receiving in roughly $40 million apiece. Richard Schaefer, the CEO of Golden Boy and the point person for the company on the negotiations, did not return multiple messages. The sides had negotiated every point of the deal except for the drug testing procedures. The fighters agreed to unlimited random urine testing, but Mayweather insisted on random blood testing as well, even though the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which would regulate the fight, requires only urine testing. Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs) didn't want any blood testing but had agreed to take three blood tests: one during the week of the kickoff news conference, which would have taken place next week, one random test to be conducted no later than 30 days before the fight and a final test in his dressing room after the fight. Mayweather (40-0, 25 KOs) would have been subject to the same testing procedures. When they could not come to an agreement on the drug testing, they enlisted the aid of a mediator, retired judge Daniel Weinstein, who successfully mediated a series of disputes between Top Rank and Golden Boy, which represents Mayweather, in June of 2007. At the center of the problem was ownership of the promotional rights to Pacquiao, who had signed contracts with both companies before eventually pledging his loyalty to Top Rank. Under the settlement, Top Rank got Pacquiao's contract with Golden Boy retaining a small percentage. With lawyers at their side, Top Rank's Arum, company president Todd duBoef, Golden Boy's Schaefer and De La Hoya, along with Mayweather adviser Al Haymon, spent nine hours in mediation on Tuesday in Santa Monica, Calif. The sides struck a deal during the marathon session Tuesday, but it was contingent on getting the fighters to sign off, Arum said. On Wednesday, they were back in their offices -- Golden Boy in Los Angeles and Top Rank in Las Vegas -- and worked the phones with their clients while still under Weinstein's gag order not to talk to the media. Arum said Pacquiao agreed to ease his demands on the drug testing window but Mayweather wouldn't. Arum said Pacquiao agreed to shorten the window for a blood test to 24 days before the fight. In order to receive a Nevada boxing license, Pacquiao took the standard annual blood test 24 days before his May 2009 fight with Ricky Hatton. "Manny accepted what was on the table and Mayweather rejected it," Arum said. "Haymon and Schaefer tired to convince Floyd all [Tuesday night] and [Wednesday] and he wouldn't agree to it. He didn't want the fight. He never wanted the fight. I always knew the fight wouldn't happen." The drug testing became a major issue when Floyd Mayweather Sr., the father of the fighter, made several public remarks accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs without a shred of proof. Mayweather Jr. later made similar remarks about him using PEDs, even though Pacquiao denies it and has never failed a drug test. "When the fight was offered, Manny accepted it with no hesitation," Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz told ESPN.com from the Philippines, where he was with Pacquiao. "We're not surprised. We saw this coming once they started this drug bull----. It was a way for them to get out of the fight. I don't think Mayweather expected Manny to accept the challenge so quickly." The accusations led Pacquiao to file a defamation lawsuit last week in Nevada U.S. District Court against Mayweather Jr., Schaefer, Golden Boy president De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather Sr., Roger Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions. "The guys who should be most disappointed in the fight being off are Schaefer and De La Hoya because they went along with this guy [Mayweather] and ended up with gatz and a big lawsuit," Arum said. Said Koncz: "We agreed to move the drug testing to 24 days under the supervision of the Nevada commission and Mayweather still wouldn't budge. So now what we've done is give up maybe $40 million to take a stand for Manny's principles. We will proceed with the lawsuit in an effort to clear his name and tarnished image. Even if they make a public apology it's not enough. Now they'll have to prove to a judge that Manny is on drugs, which they won't be able to do because he's not. Manny is pissed off because he feels Floyd is a chicken and because he tarnished his reputation. This is about principle. We have nothing to hide." Golden Boy also risks losing its share in Pacquiao's contract, Arum said. They also risk losing their share in Pacquiao's contract, Arum said. "There's an arbitration which calls for them to lose any percentage of Manny's promotional contract, something we asked for and had postponed, but now it will go forward," Arum said. "We did that two weeks ago before Manny filed his lawsuit. It's binding arbitration. Our request was for Golden Boy to forfeit its interest in Pacquiao's contract based on the fact that they had demeaned Pacquiao with their remarks [alleging he used PEDs] and that it violated the [2007] agreement between Pacquiao, Top Rank and Golden Boy." Arum now plans on moving forward with Pacquiao facing Foreman, who won his 154-pound title on the Nov. 14 undercard of Pacquiao's 12th-round knockout of Miguel Cotto to win a welterweight belt. Pacquiao would move up in weight to try to win a title in his eighth division. Pacquiao already holds the record, having won titles in seven divisions. Mayweather could also still fight on another date in March, potentially against former junior welterweight titlist Paulie Malignaggi. "We're going to talk to the MGM because they're out of a fight," Arum said. Arum added that the fight could also wind up at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas or perhaps in Dallas, where Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a strong pitch to bring Pacquiao-Mayweather to his new stadium. The 'Beautiful’ singer – who will release her fourth LP, 'Bionic’, in March – says her sound has changed dramatically since she became a mother to her 23-month-old son Max. She told Marie Claire magazine: "I had a really hard time being light before. I'd get a little weird about it being too cliched. My first record was very cliched pop - what everyone else wanted. ''Stripped’ was inspired by a lot of pain and 'Back to Basics’ still had some sort of relation to my past. 'My new one is just about the future - my son in my life, motivating me to want to play and have fun. 'Things that maybe I've been afraid to do in the past, to allow myself to go to a place of 'less singing’. I'm more vulnerable and stronger at the same time." It seems motherhood is now having a different effect Christina – who is married to music producer Jordan Bradman – since she started recording the LP. In October, the 29-year-old pop star claimed it would be "unfair" if she changed her career or style just because she had a family. Asked how becoming a mom had affected her attitude to work, she said: "As far as motherhood affecting me creatively goes - like, I shouldn't be wearing that because I'm a mom – it hasn’t. That wouldn't be fair to me. "It's important to keep a strong sense of yourself when you're a mom. You're still you." Music-News Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

You can't do anything in the rap game today without someone questioning your motives. Especially if your name is 50 Cent and you have developed a reputation for winning at all costs. Always seeking that next "Vitamin Water" type opportunity to take advantage. Whether that be in music, the movie business. on Wall Street or in the streets. So it should come as no surprise that there have been whispers the G-Unit General formed an alliance with Beanie Sigel against Jay-Z strictly for his own gain. Beanie aka The Broad Street Bully is quick to clear the air of such nonsense. The Philly mic controller recently spoke to the Source Magazine about these rumors, saying: "If 50 Cent is using Beans to do what he’s going to do, that’s cool. But at the same time, Beans is using 50 Cent to do what I need to be done. So at the end of the day we use each other, but we don’t misuse each other," While Beanie has not yet signed to G-Unit Records (he still has an obligation to Def Jam). It is clear that he and 50 have developed a relationship that is mutually beneficial. Where that will ultimately lead, only time will tell. Well, the final numbers have been crunched and the end result is something we pretty much suspected all along: 2009 was a very big year for Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and the late, great King of Pop, Michael Jackson. On Wednesday (January 6), Nielsen SoundScan released their sales figures for 2009, and while some of the data is downright depressing — total album sales (including digital) dropped more than 12 percent — we prefer to focus on the positive: Swift, Gaga and Jackson (not to mention Susan Boyle, the Black Eyed Peas and the Kings of Leon) moved a whole lot of units over the past 12 months. Swift's Fearless was the year's top-selling album, moving more than 3.2 million copies, holding off a late-year charge from Boyle, whose I Dreamed a Dream sold some 3.1 million copies to land at #2 (though Boyle had the best-selling album released in 2009, since Fearless actually came out in November 2008). Michael Jackson's Number Ones was #3, selling more than 2.3 million copies, and Lady Gaga's The Fame (2.23 million) and Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas (2.2 million) round out the top five. Jackson was 2009's top-selling artist by a mile. He sold more than 8.2 million albums, doubling his nearest competitor, Swift, who sold 4.6 million. Some group called the Beatles landed at #3, selling more than 3.2 million albums, followed by Boyle (3.1 million) and Gaga (2.8 million). Gaga was named the top-selling digital artist of the year — a category based on total digital track sales — as fans downloaded more than 15 million of her songs. The Black Eyed Peas were next, selling nearly 13 million digital tracks. Jackson stood at #3 (12.35 million), Swift came in at #4 (12.3 million) with Beyoncé at #5. The Peas held the top two spots on the top-selling digital songs list with "Boom Boom Pow" (4.7 million downloads) and "I Gotta Feeling" (4.4 million), followed by Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" (4.3 million), Flo Rida's "Right Round" (4.1 million) and Gaga's "Just Dance" (3.2 million). The Nielsen SoundScan numbers were based on the 52-week period of January 5, 2009 -- January 3, 2010. Source : MTV Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

NEW YORK -- NBA commissioner David Stern has indefinitely suspended Gilbert Arenas, saying the Washington Wizards guard is "not currently fit to take the court" for a game. Stern says in a statement Wednesday that Arenas' actions will "ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse." Because Arenas violated NBA rules by bringing guns into Washington's locker room, Stern decided to punish Arenas now. He said the suspension begins immediately. "We fully endorse the decision of the NBA to indefinitely suspend Gilbert Arenas," the Wizards responded in a statement on Wednesday. "Strictly legal issues aside, Gilbert's recent behavior and statements, including his actions and statements last night in Philadelphia, are unacceptable. Some of our other players appeared to find Gilbert's behavior in Philadelphia amusing. This is also unacceptable. Under Abe Pollin's leadership, our organization never tolerated such behavior, and we have no intention of ever doing so." Stern says he originally planned to wait for the criminal investigation to be completed before taking action, and had directed the Wizards to do the same. Every game Arenas, who celebrated his 28th birthday on Wednesday, ends up missing during the suspension will cost him $147,208. However, If the suspension lasts more than 12 games it can be appealed and heard by an independent arbitrator. The suspension comes after multiple media reports over the weekend said that a dispute over a gambling debt led to a conflict between Arenas and teammate Javaris Crittenton. Multiple sources told ESPN.com that an argument commenced during a card game on the team's overnight flight back to Washington from Phoenix on Dec. 19 and escalated into a heated exchange between Arenas and Crittenton. The Wizards had Dec. 20 off, but sources say hostilities between the two resumed Dec. 21 in the locker room on a practice day. Sources say that Arenas, in response to what was said on the flight, placed the three guns on a chair near Crittenton's locker stall and invited him to pick one before practice on Dec. 21. Sources said that Crittenton subsequently let Arenas know that he had his own gun. The Washington Post reported in Sunday's editions that Arenas, according to sources, was expecting Crittenton to see the guns on his chair as a joke based on the earlier back-and-forth on the plane, during which Crittenton allegedly said that he would shoot Arenas in his surgically repaired knee. But Crittenton, according to the Post, reacted angrily and tossed one of the guns to the floor, saying he had his own. In his statement, Arenas confirmed that the guns were brought out at the Dec. 21 practice. "As I have said before, I had kept the four unloaded handguns in my house in Virginia but then moved them over to my locker at the Verizon Center to keep them away from my young kids," the statement read. "I brought them without any ammunition into the District of Columbia, mistakenly believing that the recent change in the D.C. gun laws allowed a person to store unloaded guns in the District. On Monday, December 21st, I took the unloaded guns out in a misguided effort to play a joke on a teammate. "Contrary to some press accounts, I never threatened or assaulted anyone with the guns and never pointed them at anyone. Joke or not, I now recognize that what I did was a mistake and was wrong. I should not have brought the guns to D.C. in the first place, and I now realize that there's no such thing as joking around when it comes to guns -- even if unloaded." Arenas met with law enforcement officials on Monday to explain why he had guns at the Verizon Center last month. Arenas' lawyer issued a statement saying that the player met with federal prosecutors at the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and detectives of the Metropolitan Police Department for more than two hours. At the NBA's request, the firearms language was bolstered during collective bargaining in 2005. Players are subject to discipline if they bring guns to the arena or practice facility, or even an offsite promotional appearance. ESPN Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

The singer-and-actress believes her role in 'El Cantante’ was worthy of an Academy Award and was disappointed she didn’t even get nominated for the prestigious honour. Jennifer – who starred alongside husband Marc Anthony in the movie - said: 'I feel like I had that Oscar worthy role in 'El Cantante’, but I don’t even think the academy members saw it. I feel like it’s their responsibility to do that, to see everything that’s out there, everything that could be great.' The 'Maid in Manhattan’ star admits she watched the 2008 Oscars with frustration even though she had given birth to her twins, Max and Emme, just days before. She said: 'Well, it is a little bit frustrating. It was funny; when the Oscars were on, I had just given birth on the 22nd, and the Oscars, I think, were a day or two later. I was sitting there with my twins - I couldn’t have been happier - but I was like, 'How dope would it have been if I would’ve won the Oscar and been here in my hospital bed accepting the award?’ 'Thank you so much! I just want to thank the academy!’ ' However, she does believe she will get the honour one day, telling Latina magazine: 'Things will happen when they’re supposed to happen. Audio After The Jump When Gucci Mane calls his friend and producer Zaytoven from jail, they don't waste time by talking about frivolous things like the Atlanta Falcons not making the playoffs. The two are mapping out more records. "We stay working," Zaytoven said Tuesday via phone from Atlanta. "He calls me from jail with new raps all the time. He raps [them] to me, and I tell him to leave it on my voicemail, so I could hear it over and over again."
Gucci Mane went to jail late last year, just weeks before the release of his The State vs. Radric Davis LP, for a probation violation. In December, Gucci called MTV News from jail and said that not only does he have a follow-up album already done and awaiting a spring release, but when he gets home (which should be in less than a year), he plans to record and release yet another project in December. The LPs are called The State vs. Radric Davis: The Appeal and The State vs. Radric Davis: The Verdict. Zay, who will work on both new albums, said incarceration hasn't slowed Gucci's stride. "We're working as if he was out," the producer said. "I done been with Gucci so long and he's been locked up so many times, it ain't nothing new to us. The songs he writes, I have the track sitting and waiting on him when he gets out. Sometimes [during our phone calls], I play him my ideas for a track or a hook I got so he could be writing and getting ideas for it. The crazy thing is, when he gets out and comes to the studio, we do something all brand-new. We almost forget about what we been doing [while he's in jail]." When Gucci gets out this time, Zay said we'll hear an enhanced LaFlare. "He's still doing his shining and iced-out thing, but the raps now got more lyrical," Zay promised. "He's in jail, so he's really putting more thoughts in his raps, more lyrical content. He's coming with a whole lot of different ideas. Rather than just party music or trap music, he's coming with a lot of strong ideas and lyrical content in his stuff. It gives him a chance to really listen to what he's saying, and he's putting his words together in a different way without no beat." MTV Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

We're told Floyd Mayweather rolled over to the party to see Diddy, when he literally ran into rapper Rick Ross. Sources tell TMZ one of the men "bumped" into the other man and their entourages immediately became "confrontational." But as things started to heat up, we're told Diddy swooped in between the guys and calmed everyone down. We called Mayweather's camp for comment and his father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., told us there's been beef between Floyd and Ross for a while because Ross has allegedly been, "talking s**t." We're told both Mayweather Jr. and Ross eventually went back in the club and partied the rest of the night away without incident. Calls to Rick Ross were not returned. No comment from Camp Diddy.
