PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — The parents of the Michigan teen Ethan Crumbley, charged with killing four students at Oxford High School pleaded not guilty Saturday to involuntary manslaughter charges, hours after police said they were caught hiding in a commercial building.
James and Jennifer Crumbley entered pleas to each of the four counts over a hearing held on Zoom. A judge was weighing arguments on whether they should be released on bond.
The Crumbleys’ attorney, Shannon Smith, said Friday that the pair had left town earlier in the week “for their own safety” and would be returning to Oxford to face charges. But White seemed to dismiss the possibility that was their intention.
“This isn’t indicative of turning yourself in — hiding in a warehouse,” White said.
White said the couple “were aided in getting into the building,” and that a person who helped them may also face charges.
A Detroit business owner spotted a car tied to the Crumbleys in his parking lot late Friday, Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said in a statement. A woman seen near the vehicle ran away when the business owner called 911, McCabe said. The couple was later located and arrested by Detroit police.

Envelopes full of cash and checks were found behind a loose toilet by a plumber doing repairs at celebrity televangelist Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Texas, according to church officials.
The plumber detailed the bizarre discovery, made on Nov. 10 at the Houston megachurch, on the morning show of 100.3 The Bull, a country music radio station in the city.
“There was a loose toilet in the wall, and we removed the tile,” the caller said, NBC affiliate KPRC reported. “We went to go remove the toilet, and I moved some insulation away and about 500 envelopes fell out of the wall, and I was like ‘Oh wow!’”
The plumber then contacted the maintenance supervisor and turned the envelopes here.
It’s not clear how much money was in those envelopes.
A representative from the church acknowledged the discovery.
"Recently, while repair work was being done at Lakewood Church, an undisclosed amount of cash and checks were found. Lakewood immediately notified the Houston Police Department and is assisting them with their investigation," the representative said to KPRC.
The money mystery comes after $600,000 in checks and cash disappeared from the church’s safe in 2014, the Houston Chronicle reported. No arrests were made in the case, and the Houston Police Department's investigation remains open.

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — Michigan authorities say they’re searching for two parents charged with involuntary manslaughter in a high school shooting.
Jennifer and James Crumbley are the parents of Ethan Crumbley, who is charged with murder and terrorism in the deaths of four students at Oxford High School on Tuesday.
Crumbley’s parents were charged Friday. A prosecutor says they gave their son access to a gun and didn’t intervene despite problems at school that day.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard says an attorney for the Crumbleys hasn’t been able to reach them.

(WXYZ) — According to court documents, charges have been filed against the parents of the suspected Oxford High School shooter, 15-year old Ethan Crumbley.
James Crumbley and Jennifer Crumbley are each facing four counts of involuntary manslaughter.
No word yet on when the arraignment is expected to take place.
On Nov. 30, officials say the suspect opened fire in the south end of the school shortly before 1 p.m., killing four people and injuring seven. Tate Myre, 16, Madisyn Baldwin, 17, Hana St. Juliana, 14, and Justin Shilling, 17, lost their lives in the shooting.

The man who allegedly killed Jacqueline Avant was caught in a backyard roughly an hour after shooting the 81-year-old ... and video shows him handcuffed to a wheelchair after being taken into custody.
According to cops, Aariel Maynor traveled from Beverly Hills to the Hollywood Hills after his attack on the Avant home. He attempted to break into another home in the Hills, and in the process somehow shot himself in the foot with an AR-15.
You can see in new video, Maynor was tended to by paramedics, and handcuffed to a wheelchair while he was loaded into an ambulance. Maynor appears to be quite chatty with first responders, though it's unclear exactly what he was saying.
His right foot -- presumably the one he shot -- is bandaged.
TMZ broke the story, Maynor was arrested in connection to Avant's case ... cops say neighborhood surveillance helped them connect him from the crime in Hollywood to the murder at the Avant home.
At a press conference Thursday, Beverly Hills Police Chief Mark Stainbrook said it was still too early to decide whether or not the attack on the Avant home was random or if Maynor knew the family.

LOWELL (CBS) – A Lowell man appeared in court on Tuesday, charged with the murder of a young mother on Thanksgiving. Leonard Robinson, 22, is accused of killing Dejah Jenkins-Minus.
Robinson aka rapper Poleboy D Rose, was described as the on-again, off-again boyfriend of Jenkins-Minus. He is being held without bail.
“Dejah was found in the house that he was living in alone, in his bedroom, which was locked when any witness or the police came to that location,” a prosecutor said in court.
Officers found Jenkins-Minus suffering from a fractured neck & with more than 58 stab wounds.
“Further investigation revealed that there had been social media posts by the defendant, questioning whether he was the father of the child, questioning whether he should have a DNA test & also stating also stating that he was mad a Dejah & I would suggest providing motive,” the prosecutor continued.
Police went to a Lowell home on Friday for a well-being check on her & her 2-month-old daughter. The baby was not hurt.
LaToya Minus, Dejah’s mother, told WBZ-TV over the weekend her daughter was a “very uplifting young lady.”
“I’m lost, I’m hurt, I’m numb. I’m angry & I want justice for my baby & my grandbaby,” she said.
Dejah’s mother had called police for the well-being check.
A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for December 30.
Diddy is swooping in to try to save his namesake brand ... and he's got grand plans to breathe life back into Sean John.
According to new legal docs obtained by TMZ ... the music and fashion mogul's company recently bid $3.3 million to buy the clothing line's assets out of bankruptcy.
Diddy founded the fashion and lifestyle brand way back in 1998, but as it stands now, the brand management firm, GBG USA Inc., which owns 90% of Sean John, is currently in bankruptcy.
The company has reportedly been looking for someone to come in and buy the brand since May ... and now Diddy is stepping up and looking to be the winning bidder.
Sources close to Diddy tell TMZ ... he is very excited about the prospect of reacquiring Sean John and if successful, he plans to reinvigorate the brand.
It's not a done deal yet ... other potential buyers have until December 15 to submit bids.
