When Tara Rachel Benson went out on a recent night to an album release party in Los Angeles, she put on her makeup, a tight-fitting Herve Leger dress, stiletto heels—and a pair of padded panties.

"It's part of the whole outfit," says Ms. Benson, a 25-year-old assistant to a music manager. Wearing the Booty Pop brand of underwear, which contain egg-shaped foam pads to plump up the posterior, "I look better, I feel better, and as a result, I act better," she says.

For centuries, women have wriggled into girdles and other slimmers to minimize their rear ends. Now, a fascination with the hind-quarters of celebrities like Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian is fueling a booming market for undergarments that amplify the derrière.

On Booty Pop's late-night infomercials, which began airing in December, viewers are entreated to "forget about doing endless squats—and cosmetic surgery, who can afford that?" as models prance around in tight jeans flaunting their backsides.

In May, Bed Bath & Beyond started carrying Booty Pop in most of its 967 stores and online. Drugstore Walgreens, which jumped on the Booty Pop bandwagon in April, is carrying the product at 1,000 of its 7,541 stores and mulling an expansion. Earlier this month, Target started carrying Booty Pop online.

Booty Pop projects it will sell close to 1 million pairs of padded underwear this year.

"I want one," the famously skinny reality TV star Nicole Richie wrote this month on Twitter, after which she posted a link to a "black licorice" cotton-spandex pair, on sale for $19.95. Through her publicist, Ms. Richie declined to comment.

Booty Pop isn't the only company seeking a boost from behind. Early next year, Maidenform Brands plans to introduce a "Jean Collection"—internally called "Project Injeanious"—containing bottom shapers.

"There are a lot of similarities between what you can do for the rear and breast—you can lift it, round it and shape it," says Maurice Reznik, Maidenform's chief executive.

At lingerie retailer Frederick's of Hollywood, the $28 "Booty Boy Short" (they're for women, despite the name) is currently the No. 2 top-selling shaping item online. Victoria's Secret introduced the "bum booster" in January in some outlets, and a spokeswoman says it is selling well.

"It's not so hot to have a pancake a— these days," says Azar Jazestani, a 26-year-old wedding planner in Montreal, who wears Booty Pop panties with jeans.

Almost immediately after he finished a jail bid for gun charges in March, T.I. set out to reclaim his status as a hip-hop king — hitting the mixtape circuit and huddling in the studio with Lady Gaga and Swizz Beatz. But that doesn't mean jail wasn't a serious setback.

"It did make me worse in a sense. ... Putting me in prison took me off [a positive] path a little bit, and now I'm working to get back on that path — or at least back on the path to the extent that I was before I went in," T.I. told Complex magazine. Before heading to jail, T.I. was serving part of his sentence by counseling at-risk kids and notched over 200 speaking engagements warning young people about violence on the MTV show "Road to Redemption."

T.I., who is on the cover of the magazine's August/September issue, says that the jail atmosphere definitely took its toll. "I lost a little bit of my positive focus during that period of incarceration. Being in that environment and having those daily surroundings, it's going to affect you."

One result was that he actually tuned out when it came to music. "I didn't listen much to records when I was in there. Music is what I do every day. That made me more homesick than anything," he said. Instead, T.I. logged lots of TV hours to pass the time. "I watched series like 'Sons of Anarchy.' I'm a fan. It's another form of 'The Sopranos' to me. I watched football and ESPN." But, the most popular show on the cellblock — "True Blood" — held no appeal for him.

"I couldn't really [watch it]. They got into that sh-- heavy," T.I. said. "The whole prison damn near shut down. Everybody left off the yard, like, ' "True Blood" coming on!' They went crazy for it — there's a bunch of sex in it, so they were tuning in for that."

T.I.'s King Uncaged drops in September

(AllHipHop News) DMX’s wife Tashera Simmons has officially separated from the chart-topping rapper and is planning a reality show focusing on her rebuilding their family without him.

According to Simmons, the reality show is titled Tashera Simmons….Life After X and will give a firsthand account of how their family is coping with the rapper’s legal and drug problems and how they “cope with a husband and a father that has let them down over and over again.”

Additionally, Simmons is penning a tell-all memoir titled Tashera Simmons…Strength of A Woman, with author Aliya S. King.

"It’s not a tell-all, I want to clear that up. It’s a memoir, it’s a story about our life, my life, and our life together,” Simmons told AllHipHop.com in a press release announcing the reality show.

My side of the story, because I feel like in his book, he didn’t really get into detail to better explain it,” Tashera Simmons stated. “I think reading my book, it explains everything. I’m talking about everything, from my childhood when I was abandoned by my mother and left to take care of my siblings, to when me and Earl (DMX) first met at 11 and we got together at 18 and I’m starting from there until then on…It’s a positive tell all."

According to Tashera, the reality show is being shopping to several networks, who are vying to pick up the show.

Tashera Simmons and the Simmons family was featured on the hit BET reality series, DMX: Soul of A Man.

The reality series chronicled DMX’s career in 2006, during the months leading up to one of several jail stints over the past 10 years, the most recent being from March 2010 until July 2010, for violating terms of his previous probation.

The rapper tested positive for cocaine.

The reality series is currently in negations with several networks to have the show picked up.

Tashera Simmons recently launched a foundation called Women of Strength, a foundation dedicated to supporting drug abuse, abandonment and other issues.

Foxy Brown got arrested today for violating a protective order her neighbor has against her according to TMZ.

Law enforcement took Fox Boogie into custody around 6pm after Foxy verbally engaged the neighbor which violated the protective order against her..

But according to Foxy's manager, Bernadette Brennan the whole thing started when Foxy was rehearsing outside for her upcoming show at the B.B. King Blues Club in New York.

The neighbor didn't like the noise, got aggravated and eventually started yelling in the rappers' face.

To avoid further confrontation Brennan say Foxy went inside, which is when the cops go there and arrested her.

There's nothing worse than a neighbor you can't get along with. Sounds like Foxy might want to move.

People aren't supposed to take drugs and operate heavy machinery or drive. They also shouldn't go on a national t.v show airing to millions of people.

Whoopi Goldberg, one of the hosts of ABC's popular daytime talk show The View was lit up like a Christmas tree Monday (July 19).

Apparently, Whoopi needs sedatives calm her down during airplane flights. She came directly to the studio after landing and the meds hadn't fully worn off when the cameras started rolling.

The result was Whoopi laughing uncontrollably, talking about having gas and wondering why she was able to still sit up straight.

A New York City police officer is in hot water over the major mishandling of a minor accident.

Officer Louis Ramos of the 84th Precinct was arrested and suspended Tuesday after being charged with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.

The arrest follows a June 14 incident in which Ramos and his partner ran into a cyclist with their patrol car.

According to the Daily News, Ramos and fellow officer Paris Anderson were driving against traffic when they neared the intersection of Sands and Jay Streets in Brooklyn and struck the unnamed bicyclist.

The biker was launched forward over his handlebars.

He suffered a broken hand, cuts and bruises.

Ramos, a 19-year veteran, and Anderson, a six-year veteran, can be seen on surveillance video pulling the rider onto the sidewalk and giving him tissues to clean the cuts and abrasions on his face, arms and legs.

They then returned to their vehicle and left the scene.

The Daily News reported that Anderson and Ramos said they thought the man just fell off his bicycle after being startled by the patrol car's lights and sirens, but it was unclear what the officers were responding to.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's office has charged Ramos with assault, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and reckless driving

"Teflon Don" was mob boss John Gotti's nickname. Now it's the name of Miami rapper Rick Ross' new album.

And Gotti's grandson's got a bone to pick.

The Miami rapper should have gotten the okay from his family first, Carmine Agnello, 24, told the Daily News Tuesday.

"My grandfather paid his dues for that nickname. That was my grandfather's life," Agnello said.

John Gotti was dubbed the "Teflon Don" after winning acquittal after acquittal in the 1980s. He was finally convicted of murder and racketeering in 1992.

"He should have asked for permission. A standup, respectable guy would come and ask 'If I could use the nickname,'" Agnello, who is trying to launch a music career under the name Carmine Gotti, said of Ross. "I think he's a great artist, but you can't just start calling yourself that to sell records ...He wants to go for that whole image, but hey, be yourself."

Then he took another swipe at the 34-year-old, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts.

"Only in America can you go from being a corrections officer to calling yourself Teflon Don," Agnello said, noting Ross' former career.

The choice of "Rick Ross" for his stage name also has gotten him in trouble.

Ross is being sued by ex-druglord Ricky (Freeway) Ross for using his name in a copyright infringement lawsuit.

Ross' fascination with the mob didn't start with the album he released Tuesday. His latest mixtapes, also released this year, were called "The Albert Anastasia EP" and "Carlo Gambino." Both Anastasia and Gambino also were mob bosses.

Ross could not be reached for comment.

Floyd Mayweather Jr has been uncharacteristically quiet as speculation has run rampant about why a fight between him and Manny Pacquiao hasn't been made for November of this year.

Both the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps have given conflicting stories about what the hold up is.

But while Jr remains quiet, his father Floyd Mayweather Sr has come out of nowhere to take shots at Pac Man.

In an interview with On The Ropes Boxing Radio, Floyd Sr was asked what he would tell Pacqiao if he saw him.

"I'd tell him he's a f*ggot, go stick your head up under your dress. That's what I would tell him, being real with you," said Floyd Sr. "Tell him he aint nothing but a little sissy, a little girl."

Floyd Sr wasn't done, he called Pacquiao one of the biggest bitches is sports.

“He (Pacquiao) ain’t got no problem with fighting all the big guys—[Oscar] de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton, the other African guy, the other guy who he fought with the title. I’m just saying he beat these guys, [Miguel] Cotto, he beat all these guys like they’re nothing. He's one of the biggest f*ggots on the planet,”

"He's scared, all they're [Pacquiao's camp] trying to do is switch it around and make it look like it's my son is the one that's scared. I know who's scared, for real."

If Floyd Sr's words were meant to get under Pacquiao's skin, the Filipino fighter isn't showing that it worked..

Pac Man told ABS-CBN news "Let's just laugh it off. He may not have been himself when he said that."

Pacquiao added that it's not his camp that is to blame for the fight not going through.

Master P has some advice for Shyne Po.........stop rapping and go find another job.

The former No Limit CEO thinks Shyne needs to focus on more positive things so he doesn't end up in the same situation that got him locked up.

Since Shyne is getting older and records aren't selling like they used to, P suggests the rapper go into acting or find other opportunities outside of hip hop.

Sounds like pretty good advice from the dude that used to call himself the "Ice Cream Man".

What do you guys think, should Shyne hang up the mic and if so what should he do?

The young beast mc J. Cole is about to drop his debut cd. And instead of filling it up with features, Cole is doing something almost unheard of these days by doing the entire album solo.

"No features man, you might get a last minute Jay-Z feature or you might not......yeah you probably will, but other than that no features man," he tells Toure'. I feel like it says something...it makes a statement to be able to come out and put out that first album and not have any features.....no major features or not every hottest rapper in the game. It says something, I'll get em on the next one, but this one I got too much to say to really be giving up first spots."

One thing you don't want to do in J.Cole's presence is diss Canibus. He tells Toure about a fight he got into with an old head dissing 'Bus.

"We was on the bus, I think we were like going to some basketball game. It was this older dude, he didn't know what he was talking about. He was dissing Canibus and I got mad."

J. Cole's debut album 'Cole World' is coming soon.

Video After The Jump LYNWOOD, Calif. — Los Angeles sheriff's officials say Lindsay Lohan will likely spend about two weeks of her three-month sentence in jail. Department spokesman Steve Whitmore says Lohan is likely to be released on Aug. 1 or 2. The projected release date reflects all the credits Lohan is likely to receive. The department has said the actress was likely to serve a quarter of her sentence or less. Lohan surrendered at a Beverly Hills courthouse on Tuesday and was immediately whisked away to an all-women's jail in Lynwood. She will serve her time in an isolation unit that has previously hosted Paris Hilton and Michelle Rodriguez. The 24-year-old's jail sentence began two weeks after a judge sentenced her to three months in jail and another three months in rehab for a probation violation. Arrival and departure Wearing dark denim jeans, a gray top, black corset belt and black jacket, the 24-year-old Lohan showed up at the Beverly Hills courtroom about 10 minutes late. After a short hearing, she rose and was handcuffed behind her back to serve her time for a probation violation. Lohan was accompanied to court by her mother, Dina, and younger sister Ali, who wiped away tears after her sister was taken into a lockup. Her estranged father, Michael Lohan, yelled, "We love you Lindsay!" as his daughter was led away. She was then taken across town to the Century Regional Detention Facility in the industrial suburb of Lynwood. 'She's accepted responsibility' In court, Lohan was represented by her longtime attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, who had resigned earlier but never filed a formal motion with the court. Famed celebrity attorney Robert Shapiro said Friday that he had agreed to represent the actress, but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel said Tuesday that he had told her hours earlier that he would not take the case. Holley said after the hearing that Lohan had decided she did not want Shapiro to represent her. "She's stepped up, she's accepted responsibility," Holley said of her client. "She's scared as anyone would be, but she's as resolute and she's doing it." Prosecutor Danette Meyers said she thought Lohan was receiving the appropriate sentence. She said the case, which is atypical for the attention it receives, spotlighted that drunken driving is a serious offense with consequences. "Someone can get killed," Meyers said. "Hopefully it has opened a number of eyes." While the judge did not address Lohan's tardiness Tuesday directly, she did order her to report to probation officials within a day of her release from jail. The judge had previously ordered Lohan to report within two days. Revel also has ordered officials not to allow Lohan to serve any of her sentence on house arrest or work release. 'Eeeks' Two weeks ago the judge determined that the "Mean Girls" star violated her probation by missing seven alcohol education classes since December. She had been on probation since August 2007 after pleading guilty to misdemeanor drug charges and no contest to three driving charges. Lohan, a prolific user of the microblogging site Twitter, posted a message roughly 12 hours before her court appearance referencing her looming incarceration. "The only 'bookings' that I'm familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that I'd be 'booking' into jail eeeks," Lohan posted. The jail and rehab stints have left some of the actress' projects in limbo, including her planned portrayal of porn star Linda Lovelace in a biopic. Once considered an up-and-coming star, Lohan has in recent years been better-known as a tabloid staple and for the criminal case she has struggled to put behind her. Her probation had to be extended for a year to give Lohan more time to complete her alcohol education courses and Revel ordered weekly attendance in December. But the actress didn't complete the sessions as ordered and missed a court date in May, setting a stage for her return to jail. She is expected to serve her time — probably a quarter of her sentence or less — in isolation at a women's jail in the industrial suburb of Lynwood. The facility has hosted several female celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Michelle Rodriguez, Khloe Kardashian and very briefly, Lohan. She will be forced to wear a jail-issued jumpsuit and be given a set of simple toiletries that all inmates receive: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, deodorant, shampoo and shaving implements. Hilton received one for her own secluded 23-day stay in 2007 for reckless driving charges.
