Whether he knows it or not, NBA star Damian Lillard has made an enemy in former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen.

Sonnen recently appeared on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to deliver some hot takes on a variety of topics.

At the start of the conversation, Chael pointed out a bobble head on Helwani's desk of Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard.

Whilst he was stunned at first that Sonnen even knew who Lillard was, Ariel quickly got the full picture with Chael being from Oregon which then turned the conversation into the 'Bad Guy's' opinion on Lillard.

Immediately listing off his issues with Lillard after saying that he's not too happy with him, Sonnen explained where the beef on his part comes from.

Stating that the Blazers have this "weird thing" where they refuse to acknowledge Chael as another athlete from the same area, the lack of recognition is the first aspect of the feud.

The second part, is the way Lillard conducts himself on social media which when combined with the team ignoring Sonnen, is enough to get them on his bad side.

"I see Lillard posting on social media constantly like clout chasing & boxing & all that stuff & I never see him acknowledge me & I'll tell you it's a jealousy thing but's it's also a p*** off thing & if I talked to Damian Lillard on social media, particularly when it's about fighting, which he's always trying to act like he's some kind of a tough guy, you talk to Chael. You don't ignore Chael & if you do ignore Chael, when you see Chael, Chael will whip your ass & that's where me and Lillard stand to tell you the truth."

After airing his grievances, he did admit that he isn't going to fight Lillard if he comes face-to-face with him. Though he does maintain that he should acknowledge who the tough guy around these parts is.

CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago mom who was accused of telling her teen son to shoot a man at a restaurant is suing the city & arresting officers, a day after murder charges against her & her son were dropped.

Carlishia Hood, 35, was held on $3 million bail after she was charged last week with first-degree murder & contributing to the delinquency of a minor. 

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office said it was unable to “meet our burden of proof in the prosecution of these cases.”

“I’ve experienced pain in many ways that I would never have thought,” she said about her arrest. ”What happened to me was totally unnecessary. Never in a million years would I have imagined being brutally attacked, beaten & being arrested.”

Hood alleges malicious prosecution, false arrest & intentional infliction of emotional distress in her lawsuit.

A cellphone video posted on social media over the weekend shows the man yelling at Hood on June 18 to “get your food” before threatening to “knock” her out. He then punches Hood in the face & head several times.

Prosecutors said Hood texted her 14-year-old son, who was outside the restaurant, to come inside.

Jeremy Brown, 32, was shot in the back by the teen & then ran from the restaurant. Hood & her son followed Brown as Hood told the teen to continue shooting, prosecutors said. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

Prosecutors said Hood has a valid firearm owner’s identification card & a concealed-carry permit.

A man convicted of killing an 11-year-old girl & her babysitter more than three decades ago has been sentenced to death by a judge in southwest Florida. The sentencing came not long after Joseph Zieler elbowed his own attorney in the face in the courtroom.

Last month, 10 out of 12 jurors recommended that Zieler be sentenced to death. The same jury previously found Zieler, 60, guilty of 2 counts of first-degree murder in the 1990 murders of 11-year-old Robin Cornell and 32-year-old Lisa Story.

Before the sentence was officially handed down, Zieler appeared in court with his wrists shackled. He calls over attorney Kevin Shirley, who leaned forward to listen to something he assumed Zieler was going to whisper to him. Instead Zieler flung his elbow up & struck the side of Shirley's head.

Two bailiffs immediately tackled Zieler to the ground & escorted him out of the courtroom.

The outburst & sentencing came after a trial in which Zieler yelled at the jury & made vulgar gestures while he was on the witness stand.

Zieler was jailed on an unrelated assault charge in 2016 when his DNA matched to the cold-case murders of Cornell & Story.

The girl & the woman were found in a Cape Coral apartment in May 1990, officials said. Robin's mother had been out for the night & discovered the suffocated bodies when she returned the next morning. Investigators said both victims were sexually assaulted.

Zieler previously stunned the courtroom when he claimed he had slept with Cornell's mother a few months before the murder.

"I thought the only way my DNA could have got there was from me sleeping with Jan Cornell," he said.

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A Kentucky woman has been accused of fatally shooting her Uber driver after mistakenly believing she was being kidnapped & taken to Mexico.

Phoebe Copas remained jailed Sunday in El Paso, Texas, after being charged with murder last week in the death of 52-year-old Daniel Piedra Garcia.

The shooting took place on June 16 as Piedra was driving Copas to southeast El Paso. Copas, who is from Tompkinsville, Kentucky, was in El Paso visiting her boyfriend.

During the ride, Copas saw traffic signs that read “Juarez, Mexico.” El Paso is located on the U.S.-Mexico border across from Juarez.

Believing she was being kidnapped & taken to Mexico, Copas is accused of grabbing a handgun from her purse & shooting Piedra in the head. The vehicle crashed into barriers before coming to a stop on a freeway.

“The investigation does not support that a kidnapping took place or that Piedra was veering from Copas’ destination,” police said.

Police allege that before she called 911, Copas took a photo of Piedra after the shooting and texted it to her boyfriend.

Piedra was hospitalized for several days before his family took him off life support after doctors told them he would not recover.

“He was a hardworking man & really funny,” Piedra’s niece, Didi Lopez, said. “I wish she would’ve spoken up, asked questions, not acted on impulse and make a reckless decision, because not only did she ruin our lives, but she ruined her life, too. We just want justice for him. That’s all we’re asking.”

Copas, who is being held on a $1.5 million bond, was originally charged with aggravated assault. The charge was upgraded to murder after Piedra died.

CHICAGO (WGN) — A woman and her 14-year-old son have been charged after authorities allege she instructed the teenager to shoot a man at a hot dog stand in Chicago.

Carlisha Hood, who has a valid Firearm Owner’s ID & is a concealed carry holder, is facing a felony count of murder & another count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her 14-year-old son is facing a felony count of murder.

The pair were arrested Wednesday after being identified as the individuals who were involved in the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man on June 18.

Hood entered Maxwell Street Express to get food while her son waited in the car outside.

Shortly after, a 32-year-old man entered the restaurant an argument ensued between him & Hood. Hood was allegedly texting her son from the store, signaling him. He entered the restaurant during the argument.

The argument quickly turned physical when the man punched Hood in the head multiple times. Then, Hood’s son displayed a firearm & fired shots at the man. He sustained a gunshot wound to the back.

The man then fled the restaurant & the 14-year-old allegedly followed him, firing more shots.

The man sustained 2 more gunshot wounds to the back & was pronounced dead shortly after.

Hood then diverged her attention to the witness where she instructed her son to shoot them.

Court documents state Hood attempted to take the gun from the boy but he pushed her off. The pair then entered their vehicle & fled the scene.

Both Hood & her son turned themselves in & were arrested on Wednesday.

Hood & the boy have no reported criminal background. They were placed into custody & charged accordingly.
