Video After The Jump Lebron James may have taken a major hit in the Publics Relations department when he left Cleveland, for what he hopes are greener pastures in Miami. But one NBA legend says you can't knock his basketball ability. Hall Of Famer Oscar Robertson, known in his playing days as 'The Big O', disagrees with Charles Barkley's recent assessment that Lebron will never be in Michael Jordon's league as a player. "Is Barkley trying to say he thinks Lebron is not as good as Michael Jordon?" Robertson asks. "Come on, Lebron is in a class by himself. All this legacy stuff people talk about before a guy is even finished playing, is just tv talk. They talk about you, they burn your jersey... just grit your teeth and go harder. Keep going as hard as you can and wear 'em out." twitter-5d.gif

"You know in more than one way cocaine numbs the brain/All I did was think about how the funds once came. Then I ran across this memory and it stung the brain/How can you ever destroy the beauty from which one came. That's a savage, you're the reason why me and these beats make a marriage/why I rhyme above average and I ain't sh*t. Glad you got yourself together no thanks to me/Strong and beautiful the way thangs should be/You must love me." - Jay-Z When Jay-Z rapped about love on his 1997 song "You Must Love Me." He was talking about the kind of unconditional love only a mother, brother or girlfriend can offer a person who's doing wrong and knows it, but can't stay away from hustling. Fast forward to today. Hov feels like the rap game is in a similar situation. A lot of rappers are just following trends. Making ring tone garbage most people won't remember ten years from now. With only a handful of artists still working hard to not just sell records for right now, but also doing their best to make songs that will stand the test of time. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jigga talked about what the rap game's been missing. "For us, this is the music that saved a generation. So there's a big responsibility for those who it saved to make sure that thing is intact for the next generation. We're the first generation that really took advantage of it, starting with Puff [Daddy] and Master P, guys who really made a name and became successful as entrepreneurs, Even more than that, when you're under attack so much as a genre [as hip hop is], you're forced to come together. But probably the last time we really came together on something was working for Obama, lending our voice and the people we had toward that campaign. Whether he does a great job or not is almost secondary to what it did for the dreams and the hopes of an entire race. Just based on that alone, it's a success, the biggest we've had. Period. To date. It's Martin Luther King's dream realized. Tangible. In the flesh. You can shake his hand. We have to find our way back to true emotion. This is going to sound so sappy, but love is the only thing that stands the test of time. "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" was all about love. Andre 3000, "The Love Below." Even NWA, at its core, that was about love for a neighborhood. We're chasing a lot of sounds now, but I'm not hearing anyone's real voice. The emotion of where you are in your life. The mortgage scandal. People losing their jobs. I want to hear about that." Hip Hop is definitely not dead, even though Nas tried to bury it several years ago. It just needs a shot in the arm to get it going back in the right direction again. twitter-5d.gif

Video After The Jump Probably the greatest debate among hip hop heads is who the greatest mc of all time is. If you polled 100 people I would bet 90% of them could name a greatest rapper in their mind. One rapper who would definitely get top 5 dead or alive consideration is Nas. He feels like rap hasn't been around long enough to definitively name one the greatest. "Somebody asked me who was the greatest mc of all time. And I think it's too premature, it doesn't make any sense," Nas said. "Like when you ask most singers who do they like, who were they inspired by. They might not say Usher, they might not say Trey Songz, they might not say Justin Timberlake. They might say Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder because they had the opportunity to look at these guys' whole body of work. And even if I say [LL] Cool J was the greatest of all time, no doubt he's the greatest. But when you put that title on yourself, it's almost like burying yourself." What Nas says makes sense in a way, but I think based on what we have seen throughout rap's history, it's possible to choose a rapper who is the greatest of all time. At least until now. What do you guys think? Do you have a # 1 above all choice? If so, who is it?

He's been on my records and I've been on his album, but this is a unique record and it's powerful. There are people that are going to like it for a few different reasons. Because the subject matter is one thing, and the overall delivery, just the fact of us going back and forth. It's gonna be crazy." People this album is going to be epic. Video After The Jump It's a Queens, New York thing, as Nicki Minaj nabs the # 6 slot on MTV's Hottest MC's In The Game list. The Young Money rapper lands one spot ahead of her boss, Lil Wayne and becomes the first female to ever grab a spot on the list. Nicki's rise to the top of the game is simply amazing, when you consider the fact that she doesn't have an album or groundbreaking mixtape out. Her buzz has been built around her animated looks and wordplay, as well as countless features, where she has often outshined the artists who's song she appears on. One of her most impressive moments came on the Kanye West track "Monster." Not only did Nicki hold her own against Yeezy, Officer Ross and Jay-Z, many will argue she had the best verse. Nicki has shown she can also do it by herself, with the hit song "Your Love.". Her debut album 'Pink Friday' drops next month, so it will be interesting to see if she can continue build on the momentum she has going so far. Congrats to Nicki for making the list at # 6.

When Lupe Fiasco decides to vent, he goes full throttle. The Chicago rapper is fed up with today's MTV, and wants the old one back. Lupe took to Twitter today, and went in on the Viacom owned network. Peep some of what he had to say below.

"I think I've been very good natured with you. I personally know several employees of your company. You guys know me as well. I'm confused Where is the true music journalism??? where is Suchin?!! What happened? Where are the honest critiques of cultural expression? For it's not about being RIGHT it's about being HOT Fame over self-awareness and virtue Hedonism over self respect Celebrity over cerebral. A destroying force in our culture and society just like rest of the useless vapid spectacles that pour out of our tv's and radios What are we supposed to be learning from you? What is your point? Do you have a point beyond corporate sponsored distraction? Your a materialistic shell of your former self that can only identify with celebrity pageantry and instant gratification Corporate garbage pushing plastic lifestyles and wasteful, destructive behavior into the brains of the youth of the world So when your relevance thins in2 a whisper & the stock price collapses and you have 2 come 2 grips with the mess you made. I'll be here 4 ya We'll be here. With hands full of baby powder 2 smack some sense back into your body & a warm shoulder to cry on. We want the REAL MTV back!"

That might not have been the best way to get MTV to play your music videos, but your point was certainly heard loud and clear fam. Now lets get that 'Lasers' cd out, the fans need that. twitter-5d.gif

Video After The Jump The # 7 slot on MTV's Hottest MC's In The Game List goes to Lil Wayne. While some may disagree with this placement, what can't be denied is Weezy's work ethic. The CEO of Young Money Records has been in jail since May, but it doesn't seem like he's been gone that long.. The man prepared well for his prison sentence, leaving his fans lots of quality music and videos to hold them over until his November 2010 release from Rikers Island. In 2010 Wayne released two solo albums. The rock influenced 'Rebirth' which has gone gold. And 'I Am Not A Human Being' which just hit # 1 on Billboards Hot 100 chart this week. Add to that the countless videos he shot before going in, "Drop The World" ft Eminem from 'Rebirth', "No Love", another Eminem collaboration that appeared on Em's 'Recovery' cd. Also "Da Da Da", "Knockout" ft Nicki Minaj and "I Am Not A Human Being". Well you get the picture, dude put in work. He actually shot nine videos in one weekend at one point in Febrary. So Wayne gets a well deserved nod at # 7 on the list.....congrats.

Walmart Denies Kanye Album Cover Ban

A few days ago, Kanye said his album cover was banned from retail and implied that Walmart had a role in it. EW reached out to the bargain chain and they said they never saw the artwork.“We’re excited about Kanye West’s new album and we look forward to carrying it in our stores on November 22nd. As always, it’s our standard practice to carry the edited parental advisory version. We did not reject the cover artwork and it was never presented to us to view.”Well, that’s strange. Shouldn’t matter anyway, on Monday, Ye said there will be five different covers for his album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.Source:RapRadarFollow EntertainmentBo on Twitter
