Shawntae Harris, professionally known as Da Brat, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy citing $7,782,249.57 in liabilities, according to The Blast.
Court documents indicate the 44-year old rapper owes an unknown amount to the IRS, $1,255,128 to Sony Music, $12,000 to Ally Bank, $2,284 to various credit card companies, $2,284 to the Georgia Department of Revenue, plus money owed to to former cheerleader Shayla Stevens.
Da Brat was convicted of striking Stevens with a rum bottle at an Atlanta club in 2007. The rapper served several years in prison and on February 28, 2014, a civil trial jury awarded Stevens $6.4 million to cover her injuries and past/future loss of earnings.
