MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Cheering protesters torched a Minneapolis police station Thursday that the department was forced to abandon as three days of violent protests spread to nearby St. Paul and angry demonstrations flared across the U.S over the death of George Floyd, a handcuffed black man who pleaded for air as a white police officer kneeled on his neck.
A police spokesman confirmed late Thursday that staff had evacuated the 3rd Precinct station, the focus of many of the protests, “in the interest of the safety of our personnel” shortly after 10 p.m. Livestream video showed the protesters entering the building, where fire alarms blared and sprinklers ran as blazes were set.
Protesters could be seen setting fire to a Minneapolis Police Department jacket and cheering.
Late Thursday, President Donald Trump blasted the “total lack of leadership” in Minneapolis. “Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” he said on Twitter.

Colin Kaepernick's not here for peaceful protesting in the wake of George Floyd being killed by a cop, because he says civility led to his death ... so it's time to revolt.
The former NFL star is addressing critics of the unrest this week in Minneapolis ... and he says they just don't get it, because all the rational discussions have not stopped the horrendous killings of black men, so it's time to ramp up the protests and not worry about keeping the peace.
Kaepernick says in a tweet ... "When civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction."
He adds ... "The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance."
The "your" here is obviously the police, and Colin suggests it's due time to respond to the violence with violence, saying ... "We have the right to fight back!"
As you know, Kaepernick's been outspoken about police brutality for years, and began silently protesting by taking a knee during The National Anthem while playing for the 49ers in 2016.
The move made him a lightning rod in the discussion of police brutality and the treatment of black people in America, and many believe it resulted in him being blackballed from the NFL.
Of course, the disturbing parallel of a cop kneeling on George Floyd's carotid artery with Kaepernick peacefully kneeling to protest such violence has not been lost on people.
So, he's making his message clear -- he's done with peace ... and he's encouraging others to follow his lead.
Several days ago the internet was buzzing when DMX seemingly dissed Lloyd Banks by saying he wasn't a top lyricist. X has since apologized to Blue Hefner.
The saga started when X questioned why Fatman Scoop included Banks in his top emcee list during their recent interview.
"Lloyd Banks, of course!" Scoop responded. "Some of the illest lines ever."
However, Dark Man X wasn't convinced.
"Quote four bars. Impress me with four bars then," X said. "It shouldn't be hard ... gimme two."
Banks replied by tweeting: "So because I didn’t come to the studio to work when HE reached out..I’m not that good?"
DMX saw Banks' response, and admitted that he made a mistake, while also taking a shot at Tony Yayo. "It takes a real nigga to admit when he's wrong......" he wrote over a screencap of Banks' tweets. "My apologies to loyd banks I was thinking tony yayo when I was asked about banks. I fuck with banks!"
I don't think Yayo is going to appreciate getting dissed by X, but things seemed to be cleared up regarding Banks.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is calling for charges against the police officer seen on video with his knee on the neck of George Floyd.
The African American man died in police custody Monday night, and bystander video has since circulated showing a Minneapolis police officer with his knee on Floyd's neck as Floyd says repeatedly, "I can't breathe."
Multiple sources confirm for KARE 11 that the officer with his knee on Floyd is Derek Chauvin. Early Wednesday afternoon the City of Minneapolis released the names of all four officers fired in the wake of Floyd's death.
They are Officer Derek Chauvin, Officer Thomas Lane, Officer Tou Thao and Officer J Alexander Kueng.
"I’ve wrestled with, more than anything else over the last 36 hours, one fundamental question. Why is the man who killed George Floyd not in jail?" Frey said to reporters on Wednesday. "If you had done it, or I had done it, we would be behind bars right now. And I cannot come up with a good answer to that question."
Frey said that his request is based on video evidence that he's seen, and would not go into further details for fear of jeopardizing the investigation.
"George Floyd deserves justice, his family deserves justice, the black community deserves justice, and our city deserves justice," Frey said.
"We watched for five whole excruciating minutes as a white officer firmly pressed his knee into the neck of an unarmed, handcuffed black man," Frey said. "I saw no threat, I saw nothing that would signal that this kind of force was necessary."
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Fires burned and looters struck Thursday after violent protests over the death of a black man in police custody rocked Minneapolis for a second straight night, with damage stretching for miles across the city.
Amid the violence, a man was found fatally shot Wednesday night near a pawn shop. Asked to confirm reports that he had been shot by a store owner, police spokesman John Elder said that was “one of the theories.”
Protesters began gathering in the early afternoon Wednesday near the city’s 3rd Precinct station, in the southern part of the city where 46-year-old George Floyd died on Memorial Day after an officer knelt on his neck until he became unresponsive. Protesters skirmished with officers, who fired rubber bullets and tear gas in a repeat of Tuesday night’s confrontation.
On Thursday morning, smoke hung over Minneapolis and looters carried merchandise from a damaged Target store with no interference by police. Video of the store’s interior showed empty clothing racks and shelves and debris strewn about. Obscenities were spray painted on the exterior of the store.
Protests spread to other U.S. cities. In California, hundreds of people protesting Floyd’s death blocked a Los Angeles freeway and shattered windows of California Highway Patrol cruisers on Wednesday.
It was the second night of violent protest in Minneapolis since the death of Floyd, whom police were seeking to arrest outside a Minneapolis grocery store on a report of a counterfeit bill being passed. A bystander’s cellphone video showed an officer kneeling on Floyd ’s neck for almost eight minutes as he eventually became unresponsive.
Mayor Jacob Frey tweeted for calm early Thursday. “Please, Minneapolis, we cannot let tragedy beget more tragedy,” he said on Twitter. He also asked for the public’s help in keeping the peace.
The officer and three others were fired Tuesday, and on Wednesday, Frey called for him to be criminally charged.
Frey asked Gov. Tim Walz to activate the National Guard, a spokesman confirmed Thursday. The governor’s office didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. Walz tweeted for calm Wednesday night, calling the violence “an extremely dangerous situation” and urging people to leave the scene.
On Wednesday night, officers responding to a reported stabbing near the protests found a man lying on the sidewalk with what turned out to be a bullet wound, Elder said. The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Elder said a suspect was in custody but said the facts leading up to the shooting were “still being sorted out.”
Pablo Escobar's brother says his life was threatened because of lax security protocols on his phone ... so, now he wants Apple to cough up billions.
The notorious Colombian kingpin's bro, Roberto, is suing Apple for a whopping $2.6 BILLION, claiming someone hacked his smartphone and found his address through FaceTime, even though he claims an Apple employee assured him the iPhone X was the most secure on the market.
According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Pablo's brother bought an iPhone X back in April 2018, and he claims the security promise fell horribly flat. One year after buying the X, Roberto claims he got a life-threatening letter from someone named Diego, who said he found Roberto's address through FaceTime.
In the docs, Pablo's bro says he had to relocate for his safety, and lost a ton of money beefing up his security ... not to mention the emotional distress he says he suffered as a result of the security breach. Roberto claims he had several assassination attempts on his life before buying the iPhone X, and only bought the phone because he'd been assured his info would be safe from hackers.
In the suit, Roberto says he conducted his own investigation after receiving the letter, and found his iPhone had been compromised due to a FaceTime vulnerability.
Pablo's brother is not stopping at a lawsuit ... Roberto is also going after Apple's bread and butter.
Roberto just launched a limited edition gold-plated iPhone 11 Pro 256GB, which his Escobar Inc company is hawking for $499. Roberto says it's his way of fighting Apple -- selling their phones at a lower price, with gold-plating and sexy girls showing off the phones.
Pablo's brother says ... "Apple can never do that."
Roberto also bought and launched the domain name www.ripapple.com, which links to his gold-plated iPhone. He says the website will have "proof showing how the people of the world were scammed by Apple Inc, buying crap for crazy prices."
If he wins the lawsuit, Roberto says he will share the dough with people who bought iPhones and "ultimately donate it all."

An investor lawsuit backed by rap star Jay-Z is accusing Centene Corp. of providing substandard health-care at prisons during the coronavirus pandemic.
Centene’s Centurion unit, which provides prison medical services for 16 states, is perpetrating “a grave injustice behind prison walls” by downplaying the risk of coronavirus infection to confined inmates, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in Delaware Chancery Court.
The suit filed by investor Laura Wood and financially backed by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation media company, specifically seeks records about health-care Centurion provided at Mississippi’s Parchman prison, where at least one inmate has died of Covid-19. Wood says she wants the records to evaluate whether Centene directors properly supervised its prison health-care units and if any lapses could jeopardize the company’s contracts with states.
“Centurion and its board of directors are proud of the company’s history of providing outstanding and innovative health-care solutions to this vulnerable population,” Centene spokeswoman Marcela Hawn said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing more about our role in the delivery of health-care to these individuals during legal proceedings.”
More than 2 million Americans are in custody on any given day, the most in any country. Many experts believe prisons, whose populations contain many vulnerable people and have medical care of varying levels of quality and availability, are particularly dangerous incubators for viral infections.
Jay-Z has previously backed efforts by Mississippi inmates challenging the state’s prison-funding system. Prisoners alleged in a suit filed in January that inmates were dying at an alarming rate because of deteriorating facilities. That same month, Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves ordered one decrepit Parchman section, which had received media attention for its rat infestations and inoperable toilets, closed.
The Mississippi prison system is also facing a Federal Bureau of Investigation probe of 15 inmate deaths during violent confrontations in a single month at Parchman and other state prisons.
Before George Floyd was pinned to the ground by a cop's knee -- and ultimately killed -- he was cuffed by a different officer and seemed to be cooperating ... according to new surveillance footage.
A nearby restaurant, Dragon Wok, captured the initial moments of George's run-in with Minneapolis police on a camera set up outside. Based on the video, this started as a traffic stop of some sort, which ended with George being led away in cuffs.
The video shows 2 vehicles parked curbside, and eventually, 2 officers approach one of the cars and ask everyone to step out. A man and a woman emerge from the passenger side, while George is taken out by another officer on the driver's side ... seemingly struggling at first.
The cops get George to stand up and lead him over to the sidewalk where they sit him down. He isn't doing a whole lot of resisting the rest of the way.
Another police officer eventually arrived, and George was walked across the street and off camera. He was not being led by the officer who was eventually seen with his knee on George's neck.
Remember, police say they were responding to a call for a possible forgery. We're told an employee at a nearby business says George had attempted to pay with a $10 bill they suspected was counterfeit and, as is company policy, had reported it to police.
The surveillance video was released by Dragon Wok's owner Rashad West, who says he wanted to put it out for his community.
It's important to note the video does not show what happened immediately before the officer put the full force of his knee on George's neck ... despite pleas from George of not being able to breathe.
As you know, George's killing sparked violent protests Tuesday evening in Minneapolis. The 4 officers involved have been fired, and the Mayor has called George's death a failure on the part of the police.

Word spread quickly on social media about the fatal shooting of emerging Toronto rapper Houdini, AKA Dimarjio Antonio Jenkins, who was killed in the Entertainment District in the late afternoon Tuesday, May 26.
Within just a few hours of Jenkins’ death, followers started posting messages of condolence on the 21-year-old North York native’s Instagram account. Scores of fans, supporters, and friends also took to Facebook and Twitter to express their grief, disappointment, and disbelief.
Jenkins, who grew up in the Driftwood neighborhood, near Jane Street and Finch Avenue, had seen some success with his music career. One of his more recent tracks Auntie (with fellow hip hop artist WhyG) went viral, while his album HOU I AM got more than two-million streams on Apple Music and Spotify.
Jenkins is Toronto's 28th murder victim of 2020.
Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, shots rang out near King Street and Blue Jays Way.
Toronto police had yet to identify the victim as of early Wednesday morning.
Two others — a 15-year-old boy and 27-year-old woman — were also injured during the incident, which Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders described as "targeted" and "brazen". Speaking with reporters at the scene, he said the woman shot was "an innocent person caught in the crossfire." Both victims are expected to recover.
Toronto police said a fourth person was also injured, but their injuries don't appear to be serious.
And while Saunders didn't provide any descriptive details for the suspect(s), he said they were in a blue vehicle and "deliberately" waited for 40 minutes for the victim to arrive. The shooter reportedly exited the vehicle, fired a gun, then fled the scene.
