Cincinnati Prosecutors Declined To Seek Charges Against Michelle Gregg
Video After The Jump
CINCINNATI (AP) — A prosecutor said Monday that he isn't seeking charges against the mother of a 3-year-old boy who got into the Cincinnati Zoo's gorilla exhibit, resulting in the shooting of an endangered gorilla to protect him.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said the child's mother had three other children with her, and she was attending to them when the 3-year-old "just scampered off" on May 28. He said children's services made a visit to the boy and mother, and social workers were impressed by the child's environment.
Deters said the mother's actions were "not even close" to meriting reckless endangerment charges.
Legal experts had said that prosecution on child endangerment or similar charges seems unlikely. The family has declined to comment.
The zoo plans to reopen its Gorilla World on Tuesday with a higher, reinforced barrier. The boy apparently climbed over the outer barrier before falling some 15 feet into a shallow moat. A special response team shot and killed the 17-year-old western lowland gorilla named Harambe to protect the boy.

Harambe
The zoo's role will be reviewed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which enforces the Animal Welfare Act. An animal protection watchdog group has urged that the zoo face federal fines.
The shooting caused a wide outpouring of criticism, blaming the boy's parents or the zoo for the gorilla death. A Cincinnati police spokesman said last week police planned to "reach out" to the boy's mother to advise her of threatening language in some posts.
The zoo said that there had been no earlier breaches in Gorilla World's 38-year history and that the previous barrier had passed multiple inspections by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which accredits zoos. Zoo spokeswoman Michelle Curley said the outer barrier will now be 42 inches high — a half foot taller than before — with solid wood beams on top and at the bottom, plus knotted rope netting at the bottom.
A Cincinnati police report identified the boy's mother as Michelle Gregg, 32, who works at a preschool near Cincinnati. The child's father isn't named in the report, and it's not clear whether he was at the zoo that day.
The boy's family has said he is doing well at home. Police said he had scrapes on his head and knee, but was alert and talking when rescued.
University of Dayton law professor Lori Shaw said earlier that child endangering cases are complicated and fact-specific. She said Ohio law requires that the defendant be found "reckless" and to have exposed a child to "substantial risk," or a strong possibility of harm.
Police released 911 tapes of calls after the boy fell.
"He's dragging my son! I can't watch this!" a woman says in the 911 call, pleading for help. She shouts at her son repeatedly: "Be calm!"
A record of police calls shows nine minutes passed between the first emergency call about the boy falling into the enclosure and when the child was safe.
The police report states that witnesses said the gorilla initially appeared to be protecting the child, but after onlookers started screaming, it became "agitated and scared" and began dragging the child.
The boy's family has expressed gratitude to the zoo for protecting his life.

Due to severe weather in New York City on Sunday, June 5, the Governors Ball concert featuring Kanye West was cancelled.
West decided to make it up to his fans by scheduling a 2 a.m. Monday morning show at Webster Hall.
Show at 2am SOLD OUT
— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) June 6, 2016
That didn't work out well either.
Kanye tweeted just after midnight that the show was sold out, but that didn't stop an estimated 4,000 people from showing up at a venue that only holds 1,500.
The New York Daily News reports that a line stretched for two blocks with fans chanting "Pablo," "Kanye" and "Back of the Line" to anyone who tried cutting in.
Every time a few concert goers were allowed in the rest of the crowd tried to bum rush the doors, creating a dangerous atmosphere.
Webster Hall's management deemed the situation too dangerous and cancelled the event.
The crowd outside turned into a mob as people stood on cars and refused to leave.

"A mob of people were rushing the doors and jumping on cars," Danielle Jones, a New York University student told the Daily News. Her friends described the following for West like it was a "cult."
Kim Kardashian's snapchat showed Kanye West asking to make a call to Mayor de Blasio for his show.
West spoke to those waiting outside when he showed up at 2 a.m. He attempted to get Webster Hall to open the doors by trying to have someone call New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. That was a no-go.

Cops were called and told the crowd to disperse. By 3 a.m. the streets were cleared. One person was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Over the weekend millions mourned the loss of Muhammad Ali. The boxing legend died Friday of septic shock following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 74-years old.
British television host Piers Morgan used the opportunity to throw dirt on Ali's name by claiming he said more racist things about white people than Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, ever said about Muslims.
"Muhammad Ali said far more inflammatory/racist things about white people than Donald Trump ever has about Muslims. #fact," Mo9rgan wrote on his Twitter account Sunday, June 5. "Why sugar-coat what Ali said or stood for? He never did that to himself, or when speaking of others. I hope people don't make me sound too perfect when I die. No coats of sugar please. Why would stating that Muhammad Ali made a lot of inflammatory, race-charged statements in his life be remotely controversial? He did."

Morgan's comments angered many of Ali's fans.
CNN contributor Marc Lamont Hill, John Legend and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, were among those that responded.
“You could test us by announcing your retirement,” Legend wrote to Morgan on Twitter.
.@piersmorgan you could test us by announcing your retirement.

Teigen said Morgan is an internet troll who doesn't have a career to retire from.
@johnlegend from what? trolling isn't a job (I've tried)
— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) June 5, 2016
“Maybe I should take up a proper job, like modelling?” Morgan replied.

“It keeps me nice and not-racist so sure, give it a go,“ she Teigen shot back.
Morgan responded by insisting he wasn't a racist.
I'm not racist either, so that makes two of us. > RT @chrissyteigen: @piersmorgan it keeps me nice and not-racist so sure, give it a go.

Chris Brown also weighed in with his opinion on the Good Morning Britain host's comments.
"Irrelevant BROADCATING!!!!!! IS ALI RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT????? I CAN'T WAIT FOR PEOPLE TO WAKE THE FUCK UP," Chris wrote. "What do I know???? I'm just a 'BAD BOY R&B' singer. WE HAVE NO LEADER OR EVEN ANYONE WITH A BACKBONE TO HELP! IT'S ABOUT A HANDFUL OF BLACKS THEY USE AS PUPPETS TODAY. YALL KNOW WHO THEY ARE! Back in December of 2014, Diddy, allegedly assaulted Drake outside of club Liv in Miami. Their dispute was reportedly over Drake not waiting for a Puff verse for his song "0 to 100."
On Saturday, June 4, Drake released a new song titled "4PM In Calabasas" that has many references to Bad Boy Records, including Mase and Puff Daddy's "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" chorus, a sample from The Lox and The Notorious B.I.G's "You'll See," Diddy's famous "take that" phrase and his "No Way Out" album title.
Drizzy raps: "The higher I get, the less they accept me / Even had the OG’s tryna press me / Ha-ha-ha-ha / No way out cause I’m already in it."
Joe Budden took to Twitter to praise Drizzy for coming through with a solid effort after previously criticizing the OVO Sound boss for sounding uninspired on his new album, "Views."
Budden believes Drake is throwing shots at him and Diddy in "4PM In Calabasas" and wants the Bad Boy mogul to fire back.
"Sounded inspired," Joe wrote. "He snapped just now, even if he dissed me & Puff the whole time….. He ain’t sound that inspired in a minute (to me. Puff gotta fire back for the culture lol. Can’t let a nigga grab the classic bad boy loop, then sing all your hits as he disses u & not fire back lol for HipHop!"

One of the most popular fighters and huge pay-per-view draw Brock Lesnar is returning to the Octagon for a match at UFC 200, taking place on July 9, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The announcement was made Saturday, June 5, at UFC 199 during a promotional video for the upcoming huge card.
The Lesnar fight against an opponent to be named later is just the icing on the cake for a stacked card that already boasted Jose Aldo vs Frankie Edgar 2 (interim featherweight championship), Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier 2 (light heavyweight championship) and Meisha Tate vs Amanda Nunes (women's bantamweight championship).
Lesnar is still under contract with the WWE. The organization issued a statement on his participation at UFC 200.
“Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.”
During Lesnar's previous stint in the UFC he won the heavyweight championship in his fourth fight when he defeated Randy Couture at UFC 91 on November 15, 2008.
The former NCAA Division 1 heavyweight wrestling champion lost the UFC title to Cain Velasquez at at UFC 121 on October 23, 2010.
Lesnar was battling diverticulitis, a disease of the digestive tract, during that time. He underwent 2 surgeries. The second one in 2011 required a foot of his colon be removed.
"I felt robbed by diverticulitis. I felt robbed by being sick. I was feeling good and it took me a couple years to start feeling good. I'm at home, I'm working out, my life is great, everything's in tune, my contract's coming to an end with WWE, hey it's been a great time but something's missing," he told "Stone Cold" Steve Austin during an October 2015 podcast. "I was up front and totally honest with the company and told them I'm really thinking of pursuing getting back in the Octagon."
