Women today in HipHop have a double weight on their shoulders. Its always been harder for a female emcee to enter the game. And these days they only do in one of two ways, either tough like the guys...or presented as a porn star. The young ladies who love hiphop and its culture are left with few to appreciate, or appreciating those with a foul message and presentation. The few dope Fem-cees we have....are usually overshadowed by large status media pushing the promiscuous life style of the reigning female rappers.
Enter a real artist. Meet Kay L.A. While still delivering steamy lyrics, its done in a respectable way. Tied in with the emotion of knowing and growing with someone. And mixed in with that....is the presence of true lyrical ability. Kay L.A. brings content and quality to the booth. While presenting herself as a woman, and able to be beautifully attractive, with out being 98% undressed. Choosing to sell her sound and skill instead of just sex and her body.
Her latest release "Crush On You (Remix)," is a new rendition to a classic Lil Kim track. Kay goes in bar after bar showing she can hang with the big dogs of hiphop, while showing this new era of female rappers they need more than just some WAP to compete with a real woman who can rip a mic. Beauty is only skin deep, but Kay L.A. holds that beauty in a way that you know shes more than whats outside. Past the skin, you are dealing with talent, determination, intelligence and respect. And these qualities show in her musical content.
"Crush On You (Remix)" comes with a full length professional video. Showcasing Kay's presentation only adds to the respect you'll immediately feel for what this young lady is doing.
