STORRS, Conn. (AP) — The older brother of late New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is behind bars after a woman close to him told police she was worried he was planning a school shooting.

Dennis Hernandez, a former football player at UConn, was shocked with a stun gun and arrested by police July 18 after he threatened to kill officers who had gone to his home in Bristol, Connecticut, then emerged from the house yelling “shoot me, shoot me.” 

On the way to the hospital, Hernandez, who went by DJ while playing quarterback & wide receiver for the Huskies in the mid-2000s, said he planned to kill anyone who had profited off his younger brother.

Bristol police officers went to Hernandez’s home after speaking with 2 women about what they described as his deteriorating mental health.

Hernandez, 37, was originally arrested in March after police say he threw a bag containing a brick & a note over a fence & onto ESPN’s property in Bristol before leaving.

Hernandez did not appear in court as scheduled on July 7. One of the women told police that Hernandez told her he had driven instead on that day to UConn’s campus in Storrs and Brown University’s campus in Providence to “map the schools out.” The woman, whose name is redacted from the police report, told police she surmised Hernandez was planning a school shooting.

UConn police confirmed that a vehicle linked to Hernandez was on campus that day.

The other woman told police that in rambling about that incident to her, Hernandez said he “has a bullet for everyone,” according to the arrest report.

Hernandez also posted threats on social media toward one of those women and other people, police said. One of those read in part, “Will I kill? Absolutely.” In a text message to one of the women on July 7, Hernandez wrote about being angry at UConn coaches and university officials, and warned he was “taking down everything.”

He said he has been dying for years, “and now it’s others peoples turn.”

“Not all shootings are bad I’m realizing,” he wrote.

A phone message seeking comment was left at the public defender’s office, which is representing Hernandez in the case. Hernandez grew up in Bristol and recently had lived in Florida.

UConn said in a statement that it determined at the time that there was “no known imminent threat” to the school and that Hernandez was taken into custody shortly after UConn learned of the indcident. Brown, where Hernandez served as quarterbacks coach during the 2010-11 season, said in a statement that it’s investigation indicated Hernandez had not returned to campus in recent weeks.

Dennis Hernandez is due back in court on Aug. 1 on charges including threatening, breach of peace and failure to appear in court. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Aaron Hernandez killed himself in 2017 while serving a murder sentence.

Carlee Russell has majorly ticked off a key member of her inner circle after news surfaced Monday that her kidnapping story was BS.

Thomar Simmons posted a lengthy statement on Instagram, slamming Carlee for her lies & now referring to himself as her "ex" boyfriend. He also scrubbed all signs of Carlee from his social media accounts & stopped following her.

Simmons wrote, "Carlee's actions created hurt, confusion & dishonesty. I was made aware of the false narrative after coming to the defense of my ex Carlee Russell."

Simmons went on to say they were totally blindsided by Carlee's phony tale.

Russell's attorney, Emory Anthony, said Carlee made up the whole abduction story, as well as her claim she saw a toddler walking along the highway. He also apologized on behalf of Carlee & asked everyone to pray for her as she works on her issues. But Anthony failed to address why Carlee did what she did.

Meanwhile, the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to determine if Carlee should be criminally charged. Police spent many hours & tax dollars searching for Carlee after she called 911 to falsely report the child wandering on the interstate.

When the police got to the scene, no one was around & Carlee's family thought she'd been kidnapped. 2 days later, Carlee returned home without so much as a scratch on her, making investigators suspicious.

LeBron James' son, Bronny, was rushed to a hospital after suffering cardiac arrest during a basketball workout, TMZ Sports has learned.

A James family spokesperson tells TMZ Sports ... "Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny & take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition & no longer in ICU. We ask for respect & privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information."

Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Sports ... a 911 call was made at 9:26 AM Monday from USC's Galen Center for -- the venue where the team plays & practices & the 18-year-old hooper, who was unconscious, was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Our sources say it was a Code 3 -- meaning the ambulance lights & sirens -- which signifies the seriousness of the emergency.

Bronny is a rising talent in his sport -- he recently committed to the Trojans & is expected to end up in the NBA.

Bronny was a McDonald's All-American during his high school senior season & LeBron has expressed his desire to play alongside his son in the League.

In fact, Bronny also followed in his dad's footsteps & competed in the slam dunk competition at the high school showcase in March.

Bronny -- a 4-star recruit -- averaged 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists at Sierra Canyon during his senior season.

CALHOUN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Family Dollar employees Kelly Hutchison & Sandra Nicely said the morning of July 7 was a normal shift when an an 8-year-old girl entered.

“The little girl, she came through the store, just walked straight up to us was like, ‘I’m hungry, my mom & dad don’t want me no more, do you have anything I can eat?,’” Hutchison recalled.

The girl told the employees she had not eaten in several days.

“Kelly & I took her to the back & we fed her. She ate cereal, fruit cups, candy, bar, chips, pizza & water while she was here,” Nicely said. “It was sad & really concerning & we wasn’t about to let her leave to go anywhere else.”

The pair then called law enforcement.

When the responding State trooper asked the girl why she was at the store by herself, she told the officer she did it because “Wednesday, July 5, she didn’t eat & Thursday, July 6, she had only 1 peanut butter & jelly sandwich.”

The child identified her father & stepmother as Ryan & Ellio Hardman. She told the officer “her parents told her she had an attitude & when they think she has an attitude, they tell her she’s not being good & they don’t want her ‘this was not the first time they told her they didn’t want her’.

The officer also observed she was not wearing shoes or socks & had only been carrying a teddy bear after walking to Family Dollar.

The trooper then called Child Protective Services.

When the trooper & CPS arrived at the Hardman home, the Hardmans had not been aware the 8-year-old girl was missing.

The girl & her 3 siblings were removed from the home.

The Hardmans were jailed on a $100,000 cash bond on felony child neglect & conspiracy charges.

ASH FORK, Ariz. (12 News) — A young firefighter is believed to be the serial arsonist who has been starting several fires over the last month in Yavapai & Coconino counties.

Karson Nutter, a firefighter with the Ash Fork Fire Department, has allegedly admitted to being responsible for at least 7 arson events since June 15.

Nutter, 18, allegedly admitted to being motivated by "boredom" to start some of the fires or because he was retaliating against a former employer.

The structures that were torched included the Mobile Station in Ash Fork, a county-owned cemetery in Ash Fork, 2 abandoned homes in Kaibab Estates West & land located along Forrest Service Road 124.

Nutter allegedly told investigators he would set fire to abandoned homes he found "ugly."

At least half of the fires occurred in Yavapai County & the others occurred in Coconino County.

Nutter was recently booked into jail & is facing charges of arson, criminal damage & false reporting to law enforcement. Ash Fork's fire department is volunteer-run, according to its Facebook page.
