CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Fox 46) -- The Carolina Panthers have officially placed quarterback Cam Newton on injured reserve.
“For the past seven weeks, Cam has diligently followed a program of rest and rehab and still is experiencing pain in his foot,” general manager Marty Hurney said in a written release. “He saw two foot specialists last week who agreed that he should continue that path prescribed by the team’s medical staff and that it likely will take significant time for the injury to fully heal.
“We have said all along that it is impossible to put a timetable on this injury. Nobody is more frustrated with that fact than Cam. He’s one of the fiercest competitors I’ve been around during my 20-plus years in the League. At this time, we have decided that the best decision to reach the goal of bringing the foot back to 100 percent is to place Cam on injured reserve.”
Prior to 2018, Newton missed just three starts in seven years. The former NFL MVP missed the final two games of the 2018 season due to a shoulder injury that required offseason surgery. Then he suffered a left midfoot sprain in the third week of the preseason.
In his two games this season, Newton completed 50-of-89 passes for 572 yards and no touchdown passes with one interception while rushing five times for -2 yards.
In 2015 the Panthers signed Newton to a five-year, $103.8 million contract with $41 million guaranteed. He has one year remaining on his contract worth $21 million and would become a free agent at the end of the 2020 season.
All of that is up in the air now. Newton returned from off-season shoulder surgery on his throwing shoulder and then developed a Lisfranc foot injury that has now sidelined him for the remainder of the 2019 season. Newton played in the first two games of the year, both losses, and did not score a touchdown. In his absence, Kyle Allen has solidified his spot as the team's starting QB.
(TMZ) -- 21 Savage is a prisoner of America's immigration system -- he's facing deportation, he can't leave the country, his ability to make a living is severely impaired and he doesn't even have a court date.
As TMZ reported ... Savage was arrested in Atlanta back in February and placed in ICE custody. Turns out he entered the U.S. legally from the UK back in 2005, but his visa expired and he's been here illegally for years.
The rapper wasn't even able to get a work permit for 8 months, which meant he couldn't work domestically. He finally got one last month, so at least now he can work in the U.S. ... but traveling out of the country is out of the question until he gets things cleared up with immigration.
As you know, selling records doesn't cut it anymore, so artists make their money by doing concerts, and every country out of the U.S. is off-limits to him.
Here's the underlying problem ... we're told immigration courts in the ATL are ridiculously overcrowded with hundreds of backlogged cases. There are people who have gotten court dates for 2022. Savage hasn't even gotten a court date, so it could take years to resolve his case.
Little did we know the slow-turning wheels of American bureaucracy have been screwing him over behind the scenes. Kinda opens your eyes, huh?

MILPITAS, Calif. (ABC7) -- A white Milpitas High School teacher has been put on administrative leave after showing up to class on Halloween in blackface.
A student recorded the teacher and tweeted the video. It shows him imitating Common, the rapper. It has been re-tweeted more than 1,200 times and has 280,000 views.
Students told ABC7 News they couldn't believe it.
"I think it's bad because it's blackface! Like, why would you do that? It's very racist," said student Maria Jogi.
"I just think it is crazy that someone would do that, especially nowadays and around here at this amazing school. We are so diverse here," said student Jaylen Lyons, who also wanted to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt.
"I also don't think he was trying to offend anybody or be rude to anybody in any type of way because I know him kinda and he's not that kind of guy," Lyons said.
One mom shrugged it off as just a costume.
"That's what he chose to be as a costume. I think that's ok, there's nothing wrong with that," said Agnes Tuazon.
However, most other parents disagreed with the costume choice.
"Of course it's not good. It's bad. But what can we do? We should respect each other," said mom Rosalba Rodriguez.
The school board president released this statement on the incident:
The action(s) were inappropriate, unprofessional and insensitive. District administration has placed the staff member on Administrative leave and I have asked the Superintendent to ensure an immediate investigation is conducted.
The school district declined ABC7's request for an on-camera interview.
We also reached out to the principal, but haven't yet heard back.
OXON HILL, Md. (PIX 11) — A man was stabbed to death Monday at a Maryland Popeyes after what appears to have been an argument over the restaurant's re-released chicken sandwich, police said.
The victim, a 28-year-old man, was stabbed outside the restaurant around 7 p.m., Prince George's County Police spokeswoman Jennifer Donelan said at a news conference Monday. He had been in line for a chicken sandwich when he and another man got into an argument, which spilled onto the street, Donelan said. Police believe the argument began over someone cutting in line.
"For you to get that angry over anything ... and to develop into this type of violence, again, is a very sad and tragic day," Donelan said.
Officers who arrived on the scene applied lifesaving measures until the man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Donelan said.
Police are still looking for the suspect. Donelan asked the suspect and people who were in restaurant at the time to reach out to detectives.
"We are looking for a male, and that male knows who he is," Donelan said. "He knows what he did here tonight, and he needs to do the right thing and he needs to step up and turn himself in."
If this is your first introduction to up and coming artist "DeeFyant," let me give you a little well deserved back story.
Born and raised in Upper Marlboro Maryland, she began singing with a group of friends at the young age of 12. Immediately feeling her place, singing went from a fun hobby to a dedicated growth as she became a tried and true recording artist. DeeFyant describes herself as a singer, or RnB artist if you will, but the way she perfectly fuses hip hop, trap and pop it's clear she has made a lane of her own and is riding it with finesse and grace. Smooth as an old school big body on an open ride one summer afternoon.
DeeFyant's single "Sauce It Up" has been gaining numbers and notice on all platforms. Delivered calm and confident, you can feel the vibes of the fun DeeFyant had in the creative process behind the scenes of 'Sauce It Up," and the video brings it all to light for the world to see.
In a crisp visual presentation, DeeFyant takes us into her world of night party's and good positive energy inside her circle. Director Judlin Civil brings the single to the next level of light as he perfectly captures DeeFyant's aura with smooth motions and live angles. Presenting DeeFyant in a way that truly shows who she intends to be in this business...a star!
"Sauce It Up" is produced by Zukye Ardella and just matches DeeFyants vocal presence in a way that the sound is clearly greatness unfolding before your ears. And lastly, I could go on and on but it really won't do this amazing singer/song writers musical art the justice it is deserved. You have to check it out for yourself to see that we are getting an original, raw and extremely talented artist presented to us. Good music, good vibes and a style and feel all her own,...DeeFyant deserves a listen. The repeat will earn itself.
Growing up in Richmond, VA there isnʼt much opportunity for young driven artists such as Rizzy Rackz. Its a city of low-income families and high crime rates. He got the name Rackz as a teenager when a friend pointed out the fact that Rizzy never bought anything, but always had a big stack of money. One day while in the studio recording he got a call that his 23-month-old daughter was shot in the side of her torso during a visit to a family members house in Hillside Court Projects on Richmond's Southside. The same neighborhood where his uncle, Marco, was murdered several years earlier by his best friend. Thankfully the bullet went straight through all flesh, sparing all organs as well as her life.
From that point on Rackz took his music more serious, focusing on developing a sound that's unique to him and no other saying “Failing is not an option." When talking to Rizzy, at times it seems as if he has this intellectual burden of superb logic, street consciousness, and self-awareness. He said, “I just wanna make people move while maintaining substance, content, and deliverance of the message.” Rackz's new single "BET" is definitely an all new sound with a contagious vibe. Perfect title to describe the feeling the song gives you. Authenticity is what you get with Rizzy Rackz. Follow him on this journey of music and life.

TMZ -- Rapper Gorilla Zoe flew into a violent rage and ended up getting arrested for domestic violence over the weekend ... this according to cops.
Gorilla Zoe was busted early Sunday morning in Monroe County, Florida after security at La Siesta Resort called cops to say they saw Zoe get physical with a woman on his hotel room balcony.
According to the police report ... hotel security claims Zoe was trying to shove his GF into the room. When she refused, he allegedly pushed her to the ground. Cops say she eventually managed to get away and lock him out on the balcony.
Zoe then started punching and kicking the glass door ... according to witnesses, and the woman let him back into the room. At that point, cops arrived looked into the hotel room window and saw Zoe pinning down his girlfriend.
Cops broke things up, and Zoe got off her, but she immediately started to defend him. She told the responding officers, "We always drink and argue, nothing more. He's never gotten physical with me. Isn't that what happens when everyone drinks?"
She also told them he "always become crazy aggressive like" when he's drinking, but added he would never harm her physically. Officers say she didn't have any noticeable injuries.
Zoe was arrested for domestic battery, and while he was being booked played the rapper card. Cops say he told them he was a nice guy and, "My name is Gorilla Zoe you know me I'm a rapper."
He was released an hour later after posting a $2,500 bond.
