A suburban Chicago woman faces felony charges after she allegedly shoved her 3-year-old nephew into Lake Michigan & did nothing to save the boy, who was rescued by firefighters but is not expected to survive, officials said.
Victoria Moreno, 34, of Des Plaines, Illinois, was charged with attempted first-degree murder & aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 causing permanent disability.
Sources told CBS Chicago the boy struggled for nearly 20 minutes before he was rescued by Fire Department divers.
Cook County Circuit Court Judge Susanna Ortiz denied bail for Moreno during a Wednesday bond hearing, despite defense arguments that she suffers from mental issues. Ortiz called Moreno's alleged actions "intentionally brutal and heinous."
Prosecutors said Wednesday that 3-year-old Josiah Brown was pushed Monday afternoon into Lake Michigan by his "beloved aunt" who then stood by as he sank to the lake bottom off Chicago's Navy Pier, where divers found him a half-hour later.
The boy went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to Lurie Children's Hospital in "very critical condition," officials said. Prosecutors said Wednesday that he is not expected to survive.

HOUSTON (Click2Houston) – A 43-year-old Houston rapper has been ordered to federal prison following his conviction of conspiracy to distribute and distributing meth, cocaine and opioids.
Jermaine West, aka “Da Breadman,” pleaded guilty April 6 to 10 counts of drug trafficking.
On Monday, a U.S. district judge ordered West to serve 280 months in federal prison, to be immediately followed by 6 years of supervised release.
At the hearing, the court heard additional arguments that West had engaged in gang activity beyond his drug trafficking. In handing down the sentence, the judge remarked that West “destroyed people’s lives.” The court further noted that “for 20 years [West] played a dangerous game” & that he had “played the game and lost.”
West was part of the “Hood Kat Music Group” rap studio based in the southeast side of H-Town.
The investigation began in 2019 when law enforcement learned West was trafficking narcotics. The information regarding drug trafficking, as well as West’s known position as an influential gang member, triggered the multi-agency investigation.
West has been & will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
The FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation with assistance of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Houston Police Department.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- The assistant chief for Harris County Precinct 5 is among 14 suspects arrested and accused of solicitation of prostitution at a hotel, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Precinct 5 assistant chief Brian Harris has been identified Thursday as one of the men charged with solicitation of prostitution.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, its organized crime unit and the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance conducted an undercover sting operation and took the 14 suspects into custody.
Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap was notified Wednesday night of the incident involving his assistant chief. Harris has since been relieved of duty, according to a statement from Heap's office.
"We hold our deputies to the highest standard. His termination is effective immediately," Heap said.
Harris had previously worked as a long-time Houston Police Department homicide detective.

Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears are no longer fighting a child molestation lawsuit against them ... because we've learned the Jane Doe who filed suit has now dismissed it for good.
Per new court docs, obtained by TMZ, the plaintiff asked the judge to dismiss the case with prejudice ... meaning it cannot be refiled again. You'll recall the case involved allegations the 2 comedians groomed and molested 2 children several years ago.
The woman who sued both of them has also issued a statement, saying ... "My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years – and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us. We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us."
The Jane Doe did not have anything to say about Aries in her remarks -- who was also accused of some pretty heinous stuff in the suit -- but he's also in the clear.
In the lawsuit, the alleged victim claimed both she and her younger brother were used by Tiffany and Aries to film scenes/skits that, when looking back, were wildly inappropriate -- and which Jane Doe suggested was meant to sexualize them.
Jane Doe alleged Tiffany had her film a scene where she simulated oral sex with a sandwich -- and also claimed her brother was used for a skit with Aries in which he was the subject of a pedophile's fantasy.
At first, Tiffany and Aries called the whole thing a shakedown, vowing to prove their innocence. However, TH later said she regretted being part of the sketch.

PnB Rock's murder investigation is taking a deep dive into his past -- because cops are under the impression this might've been more than just a random robbery.
LAPD sources tell us the case is moving in several concurrent directions & 1 involves detectives digging into the late rapper's personal life, especially when it comes to who he rubbed elbows with or possibly butted heads with resulting in would-be beefs.
Investigators are especially interested in his ties to Atlanta -- where he apparently spent quite a bit of time, as well as his home city of Philly & if PnB had known enemies who might've had it out for him.
PnB's lyrics are also under a microscope, with cops wanting to see if he referenced any feuds he might've had with any of his peers and/or other individuals.
Cops initially thought it was a fatal robbery in which random thieves came across PnB and/or his girlfriend's social media, saw what they were up to & went on the attack. But why then didn't they just snatch his chains & leave, rather than shooting him multiple times & killing him?
Cops now believe this could've been a more elaborate scheme by someone with a vendetta.
The fact that this L.A. investigation is now crossing state lines is pretty stunning & they certainly wouldn't do that without at least a good hunch.
As for where things stand in terms of ID'ing the suspects and/or the getaway car ... our sources say cops are still trying to track down the vehicle through video feeds. We're told they're getting lots of tips, but it's taking time to sift through them to see which are legit.
We're told cops don't believe PnB's girlfriend, Steph, had anything to do with PNB's death. Our sources call that BS, adding she's not believed to have been involved in the planning or execution of the killing in any capacity.

A 17-year-old is wanted in connection with the killings of 2 teenagers in Orange County.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said they’re seeking a juvenile petition against a 17-year-old for 2 counts of first-degree murder.
“We have identified a suspect in this case. We will now work with local, state & federal authorities to apprehend and present the suspect to the court system,” Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood said.
The sheriff’s office said, on Sunday, men riding four-wheelers discovered the bodies of Devin Clark, 18, & Lyric Woods, 14, in an area of Buckhorn Road in Orange County.
The sheriff’s office said family members reported Woods, who’s a ninth grader at Cedar Ridge High, missing Saturday afternoon. Devin Clark’s family contacted the Mebane Police Department Sunday with concerns about his whereabouts.
Clark’s mother, Tiffany Concepcion, said he was a student at Eastern Alamance High.
“At the end of the day, I just want justice. I’m sorry for her loss, I’m sorry for mine, it hurts. I wouldn’t want this for no parent, but at the end of the day, I need, I have to have answers,” Concepcion said.
Investigators are still waiting for a report from the medical examiner to confirm the victims’ identities.
Police have not released a photo of the possible suspect at this time.
