34-year old actor Jesse Williams, star of ABC's television drama "Grey's Anatomy" was given the 2016 BET Humanitarian Award on Sunday, June 26.
The youngest member on the Board of Directors at The Advancement Project, a multi-racial civil rights organization, gave a rousing speech about uplifting black women and demanded equal rights for African Americans.
"What we've been doing is looking at the data and we know that police somehow manage to de-escalate, disarm and not kill white people every day," Williams told the audience. "So, what's gonna happen is we're gonna have equal rights and justice in our own country or we will restructure their function and ours.
Yesterday, would have been young Tamir Rice's 14th birthday," he continued. "So, I don't wanna hear any more about how far we've come when paid public servants can pull a drive-by on a 12-year old playing alone in a park in broad daylight. Killing him on television, then going home to make a sandwich."
Republican trouble starter, Stacey Dash, has somehow managed to smear Williams' speech in her latest Patheos blog.
"I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: BET is keeping racism and segregation alive and this past Sunday’s awards show proves it.." Dash wrote. "Particularly the speech given by Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams, whose tirade after receiving the 2016 BET Humanitarian Award for his black activism was nothing short of an attack on white people. What he said was straight out of the Black Lives Matter playbook, reminding the audience that police do “not kill white people” and in fact, prefer pulling “a drive by on a 12-year-old kid [Tamir Rice] and then going home to make a sandwich.”
"You’ve just seen the perfect example of a HOLLYWOOD plantation slave!" she charged. "Sorry, Mr Williams. But the fact that you were standing on that stage at THOSE awards tells people you really don’t know what your talking about. Just spewing hate and anger. Because you my man are just like everyone else hustling to get money. But your cognitive dissidents has you getting it from THAT BYSTANDER whom YOU DONT NEED. Yes. BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION is WHITE OWNED. GET over yourself and get on with it! That chip on the shoulders of people like you will weigh you down and keep you from flying free. But true freedom is never free. You have to know how to fly. If anyone is making you feel this way its you. Living in a psychological prison of your own making. If anyone is GHETTO-IZING anyone, it’s people like you letting the BETs and other media outlets portray us in stereotypes. "
What are your thoughts on Williams' speech and Dash's comments?

Iggy Azalea is spilling all of the ugly details via social media about why she really called off her engagement to Nick Young.
As we previously reported, the 26-year old rapper ended her relationship with the Los Angeles Lakers basketball player earlier this month, citing trust issues.
“Unfortunately although I love Nick and have tried to rebuild my trust in him – It’s become apparent in the last few weeks I am unable to,” she captioned an Instagram post. “I genuinely wish Nick the best. It’s never easy to part ways with the person you planned you’re [sic] entire future with, but futures can be rewritten and as of today mine is a blank page.”
It was generally assumed the break up was a result of a leaked video recorded by Young's teammate D'Angelo Young, in which he admitted to cheating on his former fiancee in the past.
hmmm i see D Angelo Russell is trending... I actually liked his film. Thanks bro.
— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) March 30, 2016
However, that was just the tip of the iceberg.
On Thursday, June 30, the "Fancy" hit maker took to Twitter to announce that she caught Young on camera at their home with another woman.
"I broke up with Nick because I found out he had brought other women into our home while I was away and caught them on the security footage," she wrote. "This is just like a second shot to the chest. And I feel like I don't even know who the hell it is I've been loving all this time. People in this world really are fucked up."
E! News reported that Young's ex-girlfriend and baby's mom, Keonna Green, is four months pregnant with another child after a one night stand with her ex.
"I have never even been told by nick that his baby mother is pregnant so if this is true I'm finding out via E news," Iggy confessed.
Damn, this web is tangled.

The war of words between Joe Budden and Meek Mill has been brewing for a while. A diss track or several was bound to be the result and it looks like Joe is ready to let one fly.
"I’m not off “barbs get him”… Fuck Meek," Joe tweeted earlier this week.

Meek responded via an Instagram post with lyrics that seemed to be aimed the Slaughterhouse emcee.
"Pretty niggas wanna mention my name to get acknowledged / Hoping I react like a fool and give 'em violence / I rather kill 'em with success and give 'em knowledge / Before I throw it all away for a sucka 'cause we the hottest / My momma crib big as a church, I'm being modest / No sleep putting in work that's how she got it," the MMG rapper wrote.
That was the response Joe was hoping for.
"God is good," he responded.
Meek later clarified that he wouldn't be putting anything on wax, but threw shots at his New Jersey counterpart in the process.
"Nobody ain't trying to come at that Shermhead/crackhead JoeBuddens this nigga got the blogs to say I'm about to diss him. We running down on niggas off the internet...He's infatuated with rappers lives nigga a podcaster now lol."
Joe then said he was ready to get to the diss tracks.
"@MeekMill don't worry, I was done being reactionary months ago. I'll initiate, u take your time, diss bars clearly aren't your thing." he tweeted. "I apologized once, now repent. Grab a pad quick nigga, it's coming. Don’t speak my name to a fan… Say it to me nigga. Stand behind your ability to rap. Or tell them why u won’t. Was plenty verbiage when I was faithfully podcasting…. Kinda quiet now mysteriously… Stay woke. This is so much fun. Back dark… Happy 4th… Enjoy the fireworks.

As we reported at the time, this beef started in July 2015, when Joe said on his podcast that Meek was acting like a simp behind his girlfriend Nicki Minaj.
"Part of my problem with [Meek and Nicki] is Meek's music is too hard for me to look at him with this sappy fuck shit," Joe said at the time. "Be the hardcore guy that I'm sure she was attracted to at some point. It's nasty. I hate everything about it. I'm glad a dark skinned guy is behaving this way. I'm just saying, a light skinned guy is not moving this way. Light skinned guys, we used to getting the bad bitch. He act like this bitch just stepped off fucking Mars and is the only girl. Oh my God, I just hate it all."
Both Nicki and Meek quickly reacted.

Why would you be bothered by another man showing love to his girl? Let's celebrate black love. All the best w/ur podcast. All jokes aside.

On May 31, 2016, Wiz Khalifa filed a $1 million lawsuit against Rostrum Records.
In the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Wiz claims the label he's been with since 2005, has profited from "virtually every aspect of his professional life" for more than a decade, and entered a "series of other transactions, all in further violation of the rule against self dealing."
He says Rostrum cut deals with Warner Bros. Records and Atlantic Records for his recordings while "intentionally conceal[ing] material information... in order to profit at his expense."
Wiz Khalifa (left) and Rostrum Records founder Benjy Grinberg will soon face off in court
Wiz was 16 when he entered into a verbal agreement that allowed Rostrum and it's founder, Benjy Grinberg, to manage his career.
The Taylor Gang boss argues that his sixth solo album,"Khalifa," released February 5, 2016, fulfilled his written contractual obligation.
Wiz terminated his management agreement with Rostrum in 2014, and now wants his contract voided.
On Wednesday, June 29, Grinberg filed a $2 million countersuit.
He claims Wiz's contract calls for the "We Dem Boyz" hit maker to pay Rostrum 15% of touring and music royalties, in addition to a 20% cut of merchandise sales, according to TMZ.
The label is asking a judge to force Wiz to cough up $2 million.
"To give everything you have to an artist and then be on the receiving end of a fabricated lawsuit is deeply disappointing," Grinberg told Billboard. "What was alleged is, in fact, the complete opposite of our actions and the antithesis of what Rostrum Records and I stand for. Rostrum looks forward to quickly addressing these baseless claims so we can continue to focus our energies on our artists' success.”
A court hearing has been set for August 1 in Los Angeles.

Zurlon Tipton has passed away after accidentally shooting himself.
According to ESPN, the 26-year old was at a car dealership in Roseville, Michigan, when he reached into his duffle bag that contained two guns. A.45-caliber semiautomatic went off, firing a round into his stomach.
He was rushed to the hospital where he later died.
Both guns were registered to Tipton, who had a concealed carry license.
Our thoughts are with the Tipton family during this difficult time. #RIPZurlon pic.twitter.com/QCLCCY5eqI
— Indianapolis Colts (@Colts) June 28, 2016
“The pistol deployed and the man staggered back about eight to 12 feet, then collapsed,” the dealership's manager Mark DeMara told the Macomb Daily. “We have an employee here who used to work for the fire department and he began working on the man.”
Zurlon Tipton shot himself in the stomach at Mike Riehl’s Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram dealership in Roseville, according to police.
“He was conscious and speaking as he was being placed into the ambulance,” said Roseville Deputy Police Chief Don Glandon. “He was on the passenger side of the Jeep, while the service tech was on the driver’s side when the gun went off.”
Tipton played running back for the Indianapolis Colts during the 2014-2015 season. He made the team after going undrafted out of Central Michigan.
"Zurlon was a dude you rooted for -- an undrafted, talented, hardworking player who always seemed to have a smile on his face. His personality was contagious," Colts long snapper Matt Overton told ESPN's Mike Wells. "He will always be our brother. He is family. Today is a tough day for many. Prayers go out to his family during this difficult time."
