Now that Lil Wayne's teeth are in order, the superstar MC is expected once again to turn himself in to authorities, this time on Tuesday, to finally begin his one-year prison sentence stemming from a 2007 arrest on gun charges.

The rapper will be formally sentenced in a Manhattan courtroom by Judge Charles H. Solomon after last month's postponement due to Wayne's dental surgery. Wayne is scheduled to enter his plea, and authorities will then whisk him away for processing at New York's Rikers Island.

There, Weezy's world will be unlike anything he's experienced before in his life.

According to a prison guard who spoke with MTV News, the Cash Money lyricist's hectic life of recording, touring and performing will be replaced by a regimented routine that features wakeup calls at 4 a.m. and dinner at 3 p.m. The guard, who declined to be identified because of the sensitive nature of the information, said Wayne should be treated like a regular inmate for the most part, obvious safety concerns aside.

"He'll be housed with inmates who are classified in his category, and he'll be able to be a regular inmate," the guard said. "He'll be able to watch television, go into the day room and congregate with people of his classification."

Wayne's classification, however, will most likely be decided based in part on his fame, the guard said. The guard also suggested Wayne would be placed in the Eric M. Taylor Center at Rikers, on the north side of the facility in East Elmhurst, New York.

"It's a high-class area where he will be segregated from [the general] population," the guard explained.

The rapper, though, won't be in a dormitory setting, as a retired corrections officer told MTV News last month. He'll likely have his own 10-by-15-foot cell with a toilet, sink, bed and one window. "He'll be able to see another wall [outside the window]," the guard said.

Wayne also will not be able to make many of his own decisions during his incarceration, including what recreation he participates in and the option to work. "He probably won't be assigned a job, just to keep things quiet," the guard said, alluding to the rapper's safety and the overall safety of the unit he's placed in.

When Wayne graced the cover of Rolling Stone recently, he said he would bring an iPod loaded with music he could write to; the guard, however, emphasized that an mp3 player would be classified as contraband, meaning the rapper would not be permitted to have one.

Weezy will have plenty of downtime, though, of which he can choose how he passes the time. In between the rapper's 4 a.m. wakeup calls for breakfast, 11 a.m. lunchtimes, 3 p.m. dinners and evening lights out, he has a number of options. He's allowed to receive two visits per week, which can be any day of the week or weekends at various times.

With his commissary money, he can purchase a transistor radio. It's unlikely that he'll visit the law library, as he has no appeal to make for his case; he's widely expected to be released after eight months if he serves with good behavior. If he wishes to participate in religious activity, he can be excused to visit the places of worship within the prison.

Throughout Wayne's sentence, he'll have an intermittent amount of time to interact with fellow inmates. According to the guard, that decision is one that is made by the governing officers of the facility to keep things orderly. For the most part, Wayne will be isolated and treated like any other numbered prisoner at Rikers Island.

"He'll have no preferable treatment at all. He'll be treated like a regular inmate," the guard said, with one added caveat: "He may have heightened security. A guard will walk with him when he moves from location to location."

This Week's Main Pick

Street King: Tyga

Holding It Down For: Young Money

Mixtape: Black Thoughts

Real Spit: This tape has nothing to do with the Legendary Roots Crew's lead MC — it's all about Young Money's West Coast rebel Tyga.

"Basically, I named the mixtape Black Thoughts because when you think of the word 'black,' you think of great, confidence, individuality. I feel like the music is solid. I'm a solid individual. The music is solid. We put 'thoughts' behind it because basically all the music is things I think about, things people think about doing, things I've thought about doing or I've done. I put it all together and made Black Thoughts."

Joints To Check For

» "Remember Me." " 'Remember Me' is crazy because it's a friend of mine on the hook, a girl that was just chillin' in the studio. I was like, 'You chillin' in the studio, you wanna work?' She got up and did the hook. I wrote the hook. 'Remember Me' is basically about things I wanna accomplish and things I wanna be in my life and progress in my life. These are the things I want them to remember about me. It's a great song, man."

» "Party Girls" (featuring Lloyd). " 'Party Girls' featuring my Young Money homie — Lloyd sent me the song a while ago. I felt everybody could relate to this with what's going on in the world. Don't nobody wanna wife up no party girl. But we like party girls. We like to go to the party and chill with those party girls, so we had to do a song about it. It's about how a young musician like me, I like these types of girls but I can't like you for too long. We just put in music and it makes sense. Me and Lloyd go back.

"We been doing music for a minute; he sent me the song. Soon as I heard it, I knew. He doesn't just [approach the record] like some quick mixtape stuff — we send each other good quality songs. From singer's point of view, if I was a singer, that's how I would have said it."

» "I Wanna Rock." " 'I Wanna Rock,' I had to do this for the hometown. I feel like Snoop, he killed it. I had to rap on it. On his song, he's got his chant, 'Snoooooop Dogg!' I had to put the YM on it and do that, just let 'em know why I'm here and why I'm Young Money and why I do what I do. And why I'm from L.A., swagged out."

Back in December, the Page Six ran a report about Lil Wayne's marijuana obsession standing in the way of him unloading one of his properties.

According to the paper, when a couple came to see the property, they were greeted by scantily clad women and an overwhelming smell of marijuana.

Weezy never addressed the rumors, until now. In a recent interview with Tim Westwood, the rapper revealed that some of the reports were actually accurate.

But, he said it didn't scare away buyers. It actually was a selling point for him.

"We're not having trouble selling it, but all the other stuff is true," Wayne told Westwood. "The people that are coming to look at it like that more about it. That's like waking in Bob Marley's crib and you still smelling weed and his bed still messed up, and food still on the table. You're like, 'Leave all that sh**. I want to buy all that sh**.' "

Video After The Jump Lil Wayne was vocal about how humbled and honored he was to be taking over folk icon Bob Dylan's part on Monday night's remake of "We Are the World." But at the end of his soft-spoken comments to reporters during the recording session, the New Orleans-bred rapper added one more thought that instantly sent a buzz through the room.
"I think it's amazing what's been done for Haiti," Wayne said, gazing out at the assembled reporters and cameramen in a tent just outside the Jim Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood as he stepped off a stool and lowered the microphone. Then, raising the mic to his iced-out grill once more, he added, "But I also think it's amazing what hasn't been done for New Orleans." And with that, he walked out without taking any further questions. The pointed aside from the rapper was a rare ripple of controversy on an otherwise on-message night, during which the other artists who passed in front of journalists praised the efforts to raise money for the victims of the Haitian earthquake and spoke of the importance of giving back. It brought murmured comments such as "Kanye West" from some of the writers, who appeared to be comparing Wayne's verbal outburst to the "George Bush doesn't care about black people" tirade unleashed by West during the all-star 2005 benefit for victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. In light of the tens of millions raised privately by texted and mailed donations, the "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon, and the more than $100 million and on-the-ground support provided by the Obama administration since the January 12 earthquake, Wayne's comments suggested that the Nola rapper feels that the same outpouring of support has not helped rebuild his hometown, which was devastated by Katrina in 2005. As much as he hates to go up against Weezy, Michael Hecht, president and CEO of Greater New Orleans Inc., told MTV News on Thursday (February 4) that Wayne's comments don't accurately reflect what's going on in New Orleans. "The New Orleans region since Katrina has been the recipient of tens of billions of dollars of assistance, not to mention scores of individuals who have committed their time and effort to rebuilding the city and region," said Hecht, whose group is the leading nonprofit economic development organization in Southeast Louisiana. Hecht said that as a direct result of billions of dollars in cash and man hours that have been pumped into the area since 2005, Business Week magazine recently called New Orleans "one of the best places in the country to ride out the recession," with an unemployment rate that is consistently 3 percent lower than the rest of the country. "Perhaps there's some frustration on his part because it didn't arrive quickly enough or took too long to come online," Hecht said of Wayne's possible motivation for speaking out on Monday, noting that more than 55 percent of the billions in federal funds allocated for Katrina fixes has gone unspent so far. "But it's not atypical after a disaster of this size, like something on the scale of 9/11 in New York, where it tends to take three to four years for rebuilding to start because of bureaucracy, insurance claims and literally waiting for the dust to settle," he said. A spokesperson for Wayne did not respond to requests for further comment from the rapper for this story at press time. Hecht also said that certainly some of the more affluent areas of the city have been rebuilt faster because their residents have the means, but he said the notoriously impoverished Lower Ninth Ward, which was devastated by the storm surge following the hurricane, has gotten "remarkable and intense" attention. "Atlantic magazine said the architecture of the Lower Ninth was setting the standard for 21st-century architecture," he said. According to the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center, the total recovery investment since the storm is $120.5 billion. "There has been unevenness and things are going too slow, but with all respect to Wayne and his experiences in New Orleans, the city that is emerging today is coming back as a place with massive reinvestment and reinvention," Hecht said. Karl Senner, 24, is a lifelong NOLA resident who lived through Katrina, jumping in an airboat with his dad the day after the hurricane and helping rescue stranded residents for days after. He told MTV News that the rush of help for Haiti might actually have everything to do with the slow response to Katrina. "I think the immediate support for Haiti can be credited a lot to the text-messaging giving, which is an avenue that wasn't really around five years ago," he said. "Also, I think responses to things like this has become an issue more so since Katrina. It was a learning experience for all of us." In some ways, he speculated, the lack of massive immediate response to Katrina was a harsh lesson learned and one that has not been forgotten in the years since. "In some ways, a big plus side of Katrina for New Orleans is that it's given the city a fresh start, a clean slate." MTV Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

Lil Wayne pictured with Recording Engineer Ky Lil Wayne's rock album 'Rebirth' drops February 2nd, but that's hardly the disc everyone is waiting for. The masses want to know how the Cash Money rapper will follow up his double platinum 2008 effort 'Tha Carter III'. That album spawned the hits "Lollipop" and "A Milli". It also was a critical and commercial success. Selling a million copies it's first week out and winning four Grammy Awards. With the pressure on to top that disc and jail looming, Mr Carter is hard at work according to his recording engineer Ky. Ky is quoted in an interview with NewLilWayne.com as saying. “Of course after Rebirth the Carter 4 is up next, he already has about 20 records for it done already.” Expect 'Tha Carter 4' sometime around summer. Drake isn't a singer-and he's the first to admit it. When he released his highly touted 2009 mixtape "So Far Gone," which finds the Toronto-raised artist singing and rapping, he thought he made a huge mistake. "People were like, 'What is this? There's way too much singing on here,' " he says. "We were really nervous about it and for like a week I was having a serious breakdown." But a month later, Drake, born Aubrey Graham, realized there was a method to the madness. "Within like four weeks I noticed I had a brand-new sound that takes a while to digest and understand. Things started to pick up and I started to learn the value of taking risks," he says. Now, the venture is paying off. Last month when the Grammy nominations were announced, Drake learned he was up for best rap solo performance and best rap song for "Best I Ever Had" off "So Far Gone." "I can't say this is unexpected, because, I mean, it's something that's kept me up many nights," the 23-year-old says. "I dreamed about this for a lot of years and have lost lots of sleep over it. This is like the highest honor and I am humbled by this. It's one of the few awards that isn't a popularity contest; you have to make great music to be honored, and this is completely surreal to me." It's an honor, however, that has an unintended side effect. With the two nominations that stemmed from his mixtape, that puts Drake out of the running for best new artist in 2010, when his debut album is released. Lady Gaga experienced a similar technicality in 2009, as she was ineligible for best new artist since her track "Just Dance" was nominated for best dance recording the previous year. The best new artist rules say the nominated performer is eligible for "the first recording which establishes public identity," and a prior nomination indicates that this threshold has already been reached. But that may be just a tiny regret for Drake, who is set up to receive tremendous exposure for his forthcoming set. Drake, who got signed to Universal Motown through mentor Lil Wayne's Young Money label shortly after the release of "So Far Gone," is prepping "Thank Me Later," slated for a February release. "The best part about 'So Far Gone' was that I didn't focus on structure. The only thing that was consistent was the story and the emotion. That's what I want to do with this album," Drake says. "I make music for people to get lost in it, so, as long as it takes you somewhere, then I've succeeded." So far, the album features Kanye West, Wayne, Young Jeezy and Jay-Z, and a collaboration with Sade is on Drake's wish list. "Something happened last night too that might be great-it might serve as the legendary sprinkle for the album," Drake says about another potential partnership on the set. "Shut It Down" and "Fireworks" are two tracks slated to make the album's final cut. "In 2010 I'm really hoping I can stay true to this new way of life I've committed myself to," he says. "I have a special plan to keep the free flow of music going after the album is released. This is definitely a unique path I'm setting out on, and honestly, it's great. I'm honored to be in this position." Source: Billboard Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

This is either the first or second single off of "Rebirth" depending on whether or not you count "Prom Queen". The album is full on rock and roll which could be considered risky for Weezy F. Baby since his core audience is Hip Hop. I guess we will find out when the cd drops. The album has been leaked heavily due to a shipping mistake by Amazon.
