Starz's “Power” premiered over the weekend, drawing more than 2 million total viewers overall for the weekend.
Depending on how you slice it, the numbers for “Power” put it on a par with the debut of “Da Vinci's Demons” on the premium network.
“Power,” which counts Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as an executive producer, tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), who seems to have it all: a beautiful wife, a gorgeous Manhattan penthouse, and the hottest, up-and-coming new nightclub in New York.
The earlier show drew 2.14 million total viewers over its premiere weekend airings, similar to “Power's” tally. And “Power” drew 1.27 million total viewers over multiple airings on Saturday night, when it premiered — in line with the 1.3 million total viewers that “Da Vinci's Demons” grabbed over multiple airings on its premiere night.
The initial airing of “Power” at 9 p.m. Saturday night, however, posted 462,000 total viewers — far shy of the 1.04 million who tuned in for the premiere telecast of “Da Vinci's Demons” (though, it's worth noting, the “Demons” premiere was at Friday at 10 p.m.).
While Starz is a premium channel and not dependent on commercials, the premiere of “Power” scored well in the 18-49 demographic most important to advertisers, accounting for 52 percent of the show's opening weekend audience. That was the largest audience concentration in the demo for a Starz original series since “Spartacus.”

(CNN) -- A married couple yelling "revolution" gunned down two Las Vegas police officers at a pizza restaurant, then ran across the parking lot to a Walmart, where they killed a shopper at the store's entrance.
The duo's Sunday morning shooting rampage ended when the wife fatally shot the husband and then herself as police closed in.
Investigators found what appears to be a "manifesto" or some sort of writings at one of the scenes, a law enforcement official told CNN Monday. The official did not describe what the writings said, and police have yet to publicly disclose a motive for the shootings.
A law enforcement source told CNN the couple held extremist views toward law enforcement.
In addition to the writings, investigators also found flags or insignias with markings on them and two backpacks at the scene. It's not known what, if anything, was found in the them, the source said.
Investigators also are going through the couple's social media postings, the official said.
Witnesses told police the shooters said "This is a revolution" during their attack.
Late Sunday night, police -- black bands around their badges in mourning -- cordoned off the area outside an apartment in downtown Las Vegas. Neighbors say the couple lived there and that police had deployed a flash grenade at the home.
Authorities, however, deferred all questions to a news conference they have scheduled for 10 a.m. (1 p.m. ET).
"This was a senseless and cruel act killing three innocent people," said Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman. "Two who dedicated their lives to protecting all of us in our community and one who was innocently going about her daily life."
'Simply having lunch'
The pair began their attack about 11:20 a.m. when they opened fire inside a CiCi's Pizza where the officers were eating lunch.
"I just sat down to have lunch. The officers were sitting in front of me, at the table right next to me -- and this man came in out of nowhere," a dazed Sheree Burns told CNN affiliate KTNV.
"I thought he was going to get a drink, the way he walked up and walked past them. And then he turned around, pulled a gun on his right and shot the bald officer in front of me."
The slain officers are Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31. Both were married with children: Beck left behind a wife and three children; Soldo, a wife and a baby.
Sheriff Doug Gillespie said one officer was able to return fire.
"What precipitated this event, we do not know," he said. "My officers were simply having lunch."
The suspects took the officers' guns and ammunition, Assistant Sheriff Kevin MacMahill told reporters. They "made a statement -- something to the effect of, 'This is a revolution.'"
'That man was crazy'
As they walked out, they passed Alvaro Lopez.
"They had a backpack and I saw a gun in their hand," Lopez told CNN affiliate KLAS. "He just told me to tell the cops that it was a revolution and that he'd just killed two cops inside CiCis."
The pair ran over to a Walmart across the parking lot. At the store's entrance, they killed a woman. Her name has not yet been released.
Shoppers rushed toward the exit.
Pauline Pacheco saw the armed man and grabbed her father.
"We saw when the man was walking," she told KLAS. "He was shouting, yelling bad words, and suddenly he had a gun.
"It was terrible, it was terrible. That man was crazy."
Officers converged and exchanged fire.
The pair retreated to the back of the store and took their own lives. MacMahill, the assistant sheriff, called it a "suicide pact."
'Emptiness in our heart'
Las Vegas law enforcement aren't immune to officers falling in the line of duty. But to have two die in a single incident has left the department shocked and shaken more than usual.
Both Walmart and CiCi's issued statements of condolences, as did lawmakers.
Patrol officers in the city usually work alone. But, at least for the next few days, they will be riding in pairs, Gillespie said.
"We still have a community to police and we still have a community to protect," he said Sunday night. "We will be out there doing it with our heads held high but with an emptiness in our heart."

Aaron Hernandez murdered 2 men on July 16, 2012 after one of them bumped into him and spilled his drink at Cure nightclub, according to prosecutors.
Hernandez, the former star tight end of the New England Patriots, appeared in Suffolk Superior Court today. He's charged in the shooting deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.

During a chance encounter Abreu bumped into Hernandez. The victim smiled, but didn't apologize which angered Hernandez.
Alexander Bradley, who was with Hernandez convinced him to go outside. The two went to the former player's Toyota 4Runner and waited until Furtado and Abreu left the club.
The victims were followed as they drove away from the club. Hernandez caught up with them at a red light. He said “Yo, what’s up now,” before opening fire.
“He fired five rounds into the car (with a witness) hearing a clicking noise after all the bullets fired,” Assistant District Attorney Patrick Haggan said.
“These homicides were as brutal as they were senseless,” Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said. “[de Abreu and Furtado] were out for a good time. They had no idea this was coming.”
Hernandez, 24, pleaded not guilty to both murder charges. He will remain in jail after being denied bail. He has been locked up since June 26, 2013 when he arrested at his home for allegedly murdering Odin Lloyd in an unrelated case.

Following the brawl between Grand Hustle and The Money Team in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 25, Jay Bling of TMT released a statement saying T.I. had suffered 2 black eyes during the melee.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. threw gasoline on the rumor during an interview with Necole Bitchie.
"As far as him swinging on me, I ain’t having that," Floyd said. "You see me. I’m out all night. He didn’t make an appearance so let’s see how his face look,"
Tip set things straight by releasing an Instagram video of his own showing his face with no injuries. He did have an injured hand, but that appeared to be the extent of it.
The video was captioned: "Two black what?????? C'mon now. Never in da history of Nigga-dom. But nice try tho. Lol."

"I shot my wife," Michael Jace told 911 operators on Monday, May 19. Los Angeles police responded to the home and found 40-year old April Jace dead of gunshot wounds.
48-year old Michael Jace, best known for his role as Detective Julien Lowe, on the television show The Shield, has been charged with murder.

According to TMZ, Michael shot his wife in front of their 2 kids who are both under 10-years of age. The kids were understandably distraught after witnessing the tragedy. They were taken to a local police station where they were to be picked up by Children's Protective Services.
Cops were said to be angry that it took CPS 4 hours to arrive at the station to pick the children up and take them to a relative's home.

Aaron Hernandez has been indicted for the 2012 double murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
Prosecutors allege that the former New England Patriots star and Alexander Bradley had a chance encounter with Abreu and Furtado at Cure nightclub and was later involved in a drive-by shooting that killed both men.

Surveillance footage shows Hernandez and Bradley entering the club on July 16, 2012, shortly after the victims went inside. Hernandez reportedly had a couple of drinks and left the club with Bradley 10 minutes later.
The victims left the club shortly after 2 a.m. Henandez's Toyota 4Runner is seen passing by the men twice as they walked to their car.
After leaving the club parking lot, Abreu and Furtado were followed by Hernandez, who caught up with them at a red light. The shooting was not caught on tape, but a third man, Aquilino Freire, who was also shot while in the victim's car but survived, told police "he saw someone in the SUV's back seat laughing. Then, several gunshots were fired from the rear passenger seat into the car."
Another witness told police that the shooter was a light skinned Hispanic male with short hair. Prosecutors say it was Hernandez who fired the the shots. If the allegations are proven to be true it would mean that Hernandez played a full season in the NFL following the murders.
Despite previous reports to the contrary, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley, announced on Thursday, May 15, that neither Abreu or Furtado had gang ties. Hernandez is said to belong to the Bristol Bloods street gang in Connecticut.
Hernandez is already being held without bail for the the June 17, 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.

Lloyd died from multiple gunshot wounds. Lalate reports that prosecutors are going to claim that Lloyd was killed because he knew about Hernandez's involvement in the 2012 double homicide.

Some beef popped off over the weekend between Lil Reese and 2 Chainz. Reese accused 2 Chainz of stealing the hook from his song with Lil Herb entitled "On My Soul."
On the song Reese raps: "You's a woulda' shoulda' coulda' n*gga/Okay yo' clique a buncha woulda shoulda coulda n*ggas."
2 Chainz just released his Freebase EP. One song on it is entitled "Wuda Cuda Shuda." On it Tity Boi raps: "You a wuda cuda shuda ass n*gga / Ole’ wuda cuda shuda ass n&gga”
It would be hard to argue that the hooks don't sound almost identical. Reese's song came out in April. 2 Chainz's track was released earlier this month.
On Sunday, May 11, 2 Chainz fired back at Reese via Twitter.
