PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Three alleged members of a violent street gang in the Hill District — 22-year-old Dionte Griffin, 20-year-old Sydney Pack and 23-year-old Richard Kelly — are now facing federal charges, and investigators are now saying recently murdered local rapper Jimmy Wopo was one of the gang’s leaders.

Authorities say their crimes ran the gamut, from murders to robberies to drug trafficking. They allegedly bragged about their exploits in rap videos posted on YouTube.

U.S. Attorney Scott Brady announced the indictment late Tuesday afternoon. A federal grand jury indicted the gang members on Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, or RICO, charges.

Brady told KDKA that “the gang has effectively been dismantled…we have taken out its leadership.”

Officials say they ran with a gang that called itself “11 Hunnit,” with most members living on Memory Lane or Burrows Street.

Up and coming Pittsburgh rapper, Wopo, who was shot and killed in June, was named extensively in the indictment. His real name was Travon Smart. He was identified in the court papers by the initials T.S.

No one has been arrested in connection with Wopo’s murder.

The 11 Hunnit gang – according to prosecutors – was responsible for the murders of at least three rival gang members, including 20-year old Christopher Richardson, who was shot and killed in 2015.

Richardson’s mother – who did not want to be identified for her own safety – was relieved by the new arrests, but worried about the mixed message the alleged criminal activity of Wopo and the others sends out. She said “he did a lot for kids in the community, but the opposite of him doing that…he was ordering people’s family members to be killed, my son is one.”

Richardson’s mother said she would now try to get Wopo’s music banned at Hill District Midget Football League games.

Officials say Wopo was one of the gang’s leaders because of his notoriety. He reportedly gave orders to commit robberies or shoot rival gang members. If Wopo was please, he would include gang members in his videos or give them something of value. If one of the gang members fell short of expectatons, officials say he would have them harmed.

Officials say 11 Hunnit was behind a long list of shootings, killings and home invasions in their battle with a rival gang called the “Wavy Boyz.

“As alleged, these defendants are members of a violent gang whose drug trafficking and other acts of violence have terrorized law abiding residents of the City of Pittsburgh for too long: today it ends,” Brady said. “We will use every tool, including federal RICO conspiracy, to put an end to these violent street gangs and offer justice to those harmed by 11 Hunnit and their associates.”

Police said homicide investigations in Greentree and McKees Rocks led investigators to the gang.

Kelly could face up to 20 years in prison, while Griffin and Pack could receive life in prison.

Mack 11 came out with a dope new single, Back It Up, and is making a lasting first impression about his artist style. "Back It Up" is the ideal club banger, with a heavy bass, trap rhythm thanks to the production style of 808 Mafia. "Back It Up" is for the chicks in the strip clubs, the ones twerking on the gram or just a all around  'feel good' song to turn up to. Saint Millie drops a flattering hook & verse, making the song more memorable and catchy with lines like "treat shorty like a mixtape". Mack 11 adds his own twist to the single, with a hint of southern flare, stunting & showing everyone that no matter how fly a female may be, the ladies will still back it up because his swag and style are too hot to ignore. Stay connected with the artist on social media, for more music news: @Mack11Maine @SaintMillie77

Prior to debuting his new song, "Untitled 2," on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy FallonKendrick Lamar sat down with the host for a conversation.

Jimmy reminded him that his album "To Pimp a Butterfly" has the most Grammy nominations ever for a rapper with eleven. He asked Kendrick if he wanted to surpass the late, great Michael Jackson's record setting 1984 twelve nods for "Thriller." (Michael won eight that year).

12351911874?profile=original

"I can't fathom being as great as Michael without putting out the work," Kendrick said. "Eleven is perfect. He's the legendary. I'm glad it's at twelve."

He later listens to a fan-made K. Dot mash-up.

Check it out below.

Video And Pics After The Jump

TAIPEI, Taiwan (Associated Press) — A plane landing in stormy weather crashed outside an airport on a small Taiwanese island late Wednesday, and the transport minister said 47 people were trapped and feared dead.

Another 11 people were injured when the ATR-72 operated by Taiwan's TransAsia Airways crashed on Penghu, an island in the Taiwan Strait between Taiwan and China, Transport Minister Yeh Kuang-shih was quoted as saying by the government's Central News Agency. The plane was arriving from Kaohsiung, a city in southern Taiwan.

Taiwan Plane Crash

The twin-engine turboprop plane crashed while making a second landing attempt with a total of 58 passengers and crew members aboard, according to Yeh.

The news agency had earlier quoted a local fire chief as saying 51 people had been killed.

TAIWAN CRASH

The plane crashed in the village of Xixi outside the airport. Photos in local media showed firefighters using flashlights to look at wreckage in the darkness, and buildings and cars damaged by debris.

Taiwan Plane Crash

About 200 military personnel were sent to help recover the people who were on the plane, Taiwanese Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Luo Shou-he said, according to the Central News Agency.

The ministry said military vehicles and ambulances were rushing people to hospitals and an air force rescue team was on standby to transfer survivors to Taiwan's main island if needed for treatment, the agency reported.

12350976295?profile=original

The flight left Kaohsiung at 4:53 p.m. for Magong on Penghu, according to the head of Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration, Jean Shen. The plane lost contact with the tower at 7:06 p.m. after saying it would make a second landing attempt.

Visibility as the plane approached was 1,600 meters (one mile), which met standards for landing, and two flights had landed before GE222, one at 5:34 p.m. and the other at 6:57 p.m., the aviation agency reported.

But the Central News Agency, citing the county fire department, said it appeared heavy rain reduced visibility and the pilot was forced to pull up and make the second landing attempt.

Taiwan was battered by Typhoon Matmo early Tuesday morning, and the Central Weather Bureau warned of heavy rain through the evening, even after the center of the storm had moved west to mainland China.

Shen said the plane was 14 years old.

In October 2013, a Lao Airlines ATR-72 crashed during a heavy storm as it approached Pakse Airport in southern Laos, killing all 49 people on board.

Video After The Jump

Shawty Lo has a lot of people talking about him these days. Last month a preview of his new reality show All My Babies' Mamas hit the net and sparked a lot of debate.

A lot of people love that the show represents an African American man who takes care of his responsibilities as a father. However there are some detractors that worry the show plays on racial stereotypes.

Despite the criticism, the Oxygen network stands behind the show.

Oxygen’s one-hour special in development is not meant to be a stereotypical representation of everyday life for any one demographic or cross section of society. It is a look at one unique family and their complicated, intertwined life," Oxygen Media told Radar OnlineOxygen Media’s diverse team of creative executives will continue developing the show with this point of view.”

Shawty, real name Carlos Walker, isn't worried about the critics either. The 36-year old D4l/G-Unit artist told MTV he provides well for all of his children and their mothers.

"You can hate all you want to, I didn't ask for it. It just happened. Now that it happened, I'm supposed to turn my back against it?" Shawty told MTV News. "If I wasn't taking care of my kids then you would really dog me out, but I'm taking care of my kids, providing for my family. I don't know what else to say."

Shawty explained that he had a really rough upbringing. His own father was never in his life, his mother was on drugs, so his grandmother had to raise him. His grandmother died from cancer when he was 17-years old forcing him out on his own. He began to deal drugs as a way to survive. He estimates that he was a millionaire by the time he turned 21. The more money he made hustling, the more women he attracted.

"I came to be one of the largest drug dealers to come from Atlanta, Bankhead area and I started havin' kids. When the money came, a lot of women came," he said. "Once you feel like a girl was your girlfriend or whatever, the rubber probably came off. "They wouldn't have an abortion. They used to take the money and run with it, and they'd have a baby by the most popular guy in the street, and that's how I had all them kids."

The "Dey Know" rapper is now determined to be a positive role model. He leads by example, starting with taking care of his family.

"I take care of all my kids. Out of all the 10 baby mamas, I just have problems outta one. That's it," he said. "She has two kids by me, and she feel like I'm supposed to do more for her kids, and she don't wanna work. She just want me to straight take care of them, but it's all love. I handle it. It's a lot of fathers don't take care of one; I gotta deal with 11. I gotta deal with nine girls and two boys."

LAS VEGAS — The UFC canceled its Sept. 1 pay-per-view show Thursday after light-heavyweight contender Dan Henderson injured his knee and champion Jon Jones, a Union-Endicott High School graduate, declined a replacement fight with Chael Sonnen.

UFC President Dana White was left furious with Jones, who lives in Ithaca, and his trainer, Greg Jackson, after the UFC was forced to scrap a major card for the first time in his 11 years in charge of mixed martial arts’ dominant promotion.

This is probably one of my all-time lows,” White said. “The one thing that I never thought in a million years would ever happen — it happened.

White said Jones is the first UFC champion to turn down a match even on short notice, calling the decision “selfish” and “disgusting.”

UFC 151 was scheduled for Sept. 1 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Jones agreed to defend his title against former champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 152 in Toronto on Sept. 22 in a rematch of their bout last December in the same city.

But that did nothing to curb White’s anger at one of his promotion’s biggest stars. Last-minute matchup changes occur frequently in MMA shows due to injuries, and White seldom has a problem getting his tough-guy fighters to take risks.

We’ve never, ever had a fighter refuse to fight somebody, especially a fighter who is a world champion as well as one of the top pound-for-pound guys in the world,” White said. “It’s baffling to me, and I’ve never seen it before.

Jones and Jackson did not respond to requests for comment.

Henderson, 41, was forced to drop out of his title shot against Jones after partially tearing a ligament in his knee during training, according to White.

Sonnen agreed to take the assignment on eight days’ notice, moving up from 185 pounds to 205 to do it. The trash-talking, attention-loving Sonnen was stopped by middleweight champion Anderson Silva on July 7 in their entertaining rematch at UFC 148.

Chael Sonnen says, ‘I’ll fight him tonight,’” White said. “He’s that kind of a person. He puts his money where his mouth is. He goes out and delivers. He’s willing to step out and fight.”

But White said Jones and Jackson decided the champion could not be ready to fight the dangerous Sonnen. White was particularly enraged by Jackson, the respected Albuquerque-based trainer of several elite MMA fighters, calling him “a sport-killer” and “a weirdo” before saying: “Greg Jackson should never be interviewed by anybody ever again, except a psychiatrist.

Jones is among the sport’s top handful of pound-for-pound fighters after his meteoric rise to the title in March 2011 in just his eighth UFC fight, yet his previously squeaky-clean image has taken enormous hits this year after his arrest on a drunken-driving charge in Binghamton in May, followed by his decision to decline this fight.

Jones, 25, a former college wrestler and the brother of two NFL players, has been open about his financial motivations for fighting in recent months, saying he hopes to retire young to pursue other interests.

Jon Jones has been one of these guys who, as much as he’s won and all the things that he’s accomplished, he’s been a champion that hasn’t been very popular, and I don’t think this is going to do wonders for his popularity,” White said.

The UFC will give refunds on all tickets, costing the promotion an enormous amount of “money that’s already been spent,” according to White, on everything from Times Square billboards to extensive television advertising. But thousands of fans who converge on the UFC’s hometown for its big events already have booked plane tickets and hotel rooms.

White is also apoplectic about the cancellation or rescheduling of UFC 151’s 10 preliminary bouts, lamenting the wasted money and training time spent by the undercard fighters with a fraction of Jones’ wealth.

Charlie Brenneman, a journeyman welterweight scheduled to fight Australia’s Kyle Noke in a preliminary card bout to be aired on Facebook, tweeted at Jones: “U can send my check to PO box 198. EH NJ. Rent is due the first, so preferably by then. Thanks.

Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Watch the Throne" tour invaded Paris, France last night and won't soon be forgotten. The dynamic duo hit the stage at Bercy Stadium and performed their hit record "Niggas In Paris" an incredible eleven times in a row.

They have a chance to top themselves tonight when they play one more show at the arena. Will they make it twelve times in a row?
