Former NFL wide receiver David Patten, who won three Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots, died Thursday at the age of 47.

Sam Gordon, who had Patten as a client in his management firm, confirmed Patten's death to ESPN's Mike Reiss, saying he died in South Carolina. According to TMZ, Patten died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

"We are all very heartbroken," said Gordon, who added that he had spoken with Patten's wife Friday morning. "He was a man of God. He had his own ministry. He loved New England very much."

Patten played for five teams over a 12-year NFL career but is best known for his four seasons with the Patriots from 2001 to 2004. He caught the only offensive touchdown for the Patriots during their first Super Bowl win, in the 2001 season against the Rams, hauling in a 8-yard pass from Tom Brady to give New England a 14-3 lead just before halftime.

When he retired during Patriots training camp in 2010, Patten described his time with the Patriots as the highlight of his career.

Former Patriots teammates Richard Seymour and Deion Branch and former New England offensive coordinator Charlie Weis were among those eulogizing Patten on social media Friday.

"If there is one thing I want people to know about David, it's that as great a player he was, he was a better man," Gordon told Reiss.

Patten also played for the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints and Washington. He played his final NFL game in 2008 and finished with 324 receptions for 4,715 yards and 24 touchdowns.

(CNN) Patricia and Leslie McWaters spent 47 years together, raising their children, then grandchildren and then great-grandchildren. And last week, they died together of Covid-19, within the same minute.

"They literally did everything together and although we're shocked about it, when we look at it, we also think it's not so surprising, because they were together all the time and they had so much fun together in life," said one of their two daughters, Joana Sisk.

The McWaters are among the 268,087 people to have died from the coronavirus in the US, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. And as the number of hospitalizations consistently reaches new highs, experts worry higher numbers of deaths will follow.

At first glance, the two were quite different: she was a no-nonsense retired nurse, and he was a fun-loving veteran and retired truck driver. She was the boss, and he was the king of one-liners. But the common denominator everyone saw between Patricia and Leslie "LD" McWaters, Sisk said, was their genuine kindness and care for other people.

They enjoyed being together hosting pool parties, attending family sporting events and going dancing at the bar where they met.

"Pat was the most beautiful woman ever and boy did she look good in hot pants and go-go boots!" Sisk remembers her father saying.

But then Pat went to the hospital to get treatment for a coronavirus infection, Sisk said. She was told to go home and isolate, which she did. After 35 years in the medical field, she didn't question the doctors, though she felt poorly, Sisk said.

The following week, the couple went to the hospital again, this time in an ambulance. They were there for a week.

When they died of the virus, the hospital staff tending to them said their times were too close to call, and recorded the exact same time: Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 4:23 p.m.

"Those of us that know them, know that mom went first and said, "LD, it's time to go!" Sisk said.

"Unsolved Mysteries" is once again bringing about renewed interest in an old case gone cold, but more importantly ... it might lead to the capture of a killer on the run for 47 years.

Volume 2 of Netflix's revival of the show features an episode called "Death Row Fugitive," which focuses on the escape of convicted child killer, Lester Eubanks, in Ohio in 1973. He's been on the lam ever since.

The creator of the series, Terry Dunn Meurer, tells TMZ ... they've received hundreds of leads on Eubanks' whereabouts since the episode aired Oct. 19, and have passed any that seem even slightly credible to law enforcement.

The U.S. Marshal Service has concurrently announced that they believe Eubanks is alive and they are getting closer to tracking him down. They've also doubled the reward for information leading to his capture from $25,000 to $50,000.

Eubanks was convicted in the '60s for the rape and murder of 14-year-old Mary Ellen Deener. Though he was sentenced to death, it was later changed to life in prison ... but he escaped in December 1973, near Columbus, while out on an honor assignment.

Deener's sister, Myrtle Carter, tells us she hopes the episode leads to Eubanks' arrest so her family can finally have some closure once and for all.

She says all she can do is be hopeful, but like the U.S. Marshals ... she's encouraged by the response and support from "Unsolved Mysteries" so far.

Malik B, a founding member of The Roots and solo artist, has passed away. He was 47.

The Philadelphia rapper’s death was first confirmed by his cousin, former CBS News correspondent Don Champion, as well as founding members Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter.

Born Malik Abdul Baset, the rapper and singer first joined The Roots before the group’s 1993 debut studio album, “Organix.” He also appeared on the band’s next three albums including “Do You Want More?!!!??!,” “Illadelph Halflife” and “Things Fall Apart.”

“It is with heavy hearts and tearful eyes that we regretfully inform you of the passing of our beloved brother and long time Roots member Malik Abdul Baset,” Questlove and Black Thought said in a statement to The Post. “May he be remembered for his devotion to Islam, His loving brotherhood and His innovation as one of the most gifted MCs of all time. We ask that you please respect his family and extended family in our time of mourning such a great loss.”

The Roots also tweeted a similar statement.

“Mourning my beloved cousin today,” Champion wrote on Twitter. “He was so talented and had a huge heart. I still remember when he and The Roots were starting out. He’d give me and my dad their cassette tapes to listen to. I miss you already, Mailk. #RIP.”

“Heartbroken to hear of the passing of Malik B, one of the greatest MC’s to ever come from this city,” wrote fellow Philly-based rapper Reef The Lost Cauze, whose real name is Sharif T. Lacey. “He had his troubles for sure, but dude inspired a whole generation of us to touch the mic. Myself included. May he rest peacefully.”

The details of his death have not yet been revealed.

Malik B left the group in 1999 before The Roots released its fifth album, “Phrenology.” Roots member Black Thought dedicated a song to Malik B entitled “Water” on the album describing how they met.

The emcee was also a member of the underground rap group, Army Of The Pharaohs, and later appeared as a guest artist on several Roots’ songs, like “Game Theory.”

Baset also had a solo career after leaving The Roots, including an EP and two albums. His most recent was 2016’s “Unpredictable” with producer Mr. Green.

(WKYC3) CLEVELAND — A Warrensville Heights man now faces more charges after he punched his defense lawyer in the face following his sentencing for another crime.

David Chislton, 42, was sentenced to 47 years in prison Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend and setting fire to a Warrensville Heights apartment building in 2017. Chislton was hit with several charges, including aggravated arson, domestic violence and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Authorities responded to the domestic violence situation that turned into a raging fire at the Miles Landing apartment complex on Banbury Circle on April 10, 2017.

According to police, the incident began with an argument between Chislton and his girlfriend around 2 p.m. His girlfriend was able to get away safely, but Chislton barricaded himself in the building, threatening to harm himself and others.

Chislton set fire to a second floor unit before a tactical team took him into custody. The fire caused significant damage and displaced several families.

While investigating the arson, authorities also learned that Chislton was engaging in sexual misconduct with his step-daughter. He was also charged in the death of a dog.

When Judge Nancy Margaret Russo announced Chislton's sentence, the defendant turned and punched his lawyer, Aaron Brockler.

Brockler said he was knocked unconscious and suffered a broken nose and severe concussion. He also said Chislton had been handcuffed in the front, not with his hands behind his back.

"What occurred in courtroom 18-C today was unfortunate, and we are thankful that Attorney Aaron Brockler was not more seriously injured. We wish him the best in a speedy recovery," administrative and presiding Judge John Russo said in a statement issued Tuesday.

Amid chants of “No Justice, No Peace,” and “Time to Kill a Cop,” 47 protesters were arrested in Ferguson, Missouri Wednesday morning, August 20.

Things were peaceful throughout most of Tuesday night until urine and bottles were tossed at police around midnight, according to News 4.

Police arrested 47 people and confiscated three guns.

Captain Ron Johnson, with the Missouri Highway Patrol, said the troublemakers were younger people who came out after the older protesters began to disperse.

Johnson had to answer question from a woman who wanted to know why tear gas and smoke entered her home on Monday night.

“I talked to a lady who said ‘you put smoke and gas in my house last night in my home. Why?’ I said ‘last night there were gentlemen on the corner with handguns and if I don’t use tear gas, there is a gunfight between an officer and a citizen,”Ron Johnson said.

TAIPEI, Taiwan (Associated Press) — A plane landing in stormy weather crashed outside an airport on a small Taiwanese island late Wednesday, and the transport minister said 47 people were trapped and feared dead.

Another 11 people were injured when the ATR-72 operated by Taiwan's TransAsia Airways crashed on Penghu, an island in the Taiwan Strait between Taiwan and China, Transport Minister Yeh Kuang-shih was quoted as saying by the government's Central News Agency. The plane was arriving from Kaohsiung, a city in southern Taiwan.

Taiwan Plane Crash

The twin-engine turboprop plane crashed while making a second landing attempt with a total of 58 passengers and crew members aboard, according to Yeh.

The news agency had earlier quoted a local fire chief as saying 51 people had been killed.

TAIWAN CRASH

The plane crashed in the village of Xixi outside the airport. Photos in local media showed firefighters using flashlights to look at wreckage in the darkness, and buildings and cars damaged by debris.

Taiwan Plane Crash

About 200 military personnel were sent to help recover the people who were on the plane, Taiwanese Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Luo Shou-he said, according to the Central News Agency.

The ministry said military vehicles and ambulances were rushing people to hospitals and an air force rescue team was on standby to transfer survivors to Taiwan's main island if needed for treatment, the agency reported.

12350976295?profile=original

The flight left Kaohsiung at 4:53 p.m. for Magong on Penghu, according to the head of Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration, Jean Shen. The plane lost contact with the tower at 7:06 p.m. after saying it would make a second landing attempt.

Visibility as the plane approached was 1,600 meters (one mile), which met standards for landing, and two flights had landed before GE222, one at 5:34 p.m. and the other at 6:57 p.m., the aviation agency reported.

But the Central News Agency, citing the county fire department, said it appeared heavy rain reduced visibility and the pilot was forced to pull up and make the second landing attempt.

Taiwan was battered by Typhoon Matmo early Tuesday morning, and the Central Weather Bureau warned of heavy rain through the evening, even after the center of the storm had moved west to mainland China.

Shen said the plane was 14 years old.

In October 2013, a Lao Airlines ATR-72 crashed during a heavy storm as it approached Pakse Airport in southern Laos, killing all 49 people on board.

MSNBC

Rodney King, the man whose videotaped beating by Los Angeles police officers in 1991 sparked some of the deadliest race riots in U.S.history, was found dead on Sunday, Reuters reported. He was 47.

King was found dead in a pool and there were no signs of foul play, Reuters reported, citing California police.

King was beaten by Los Angeles Police Department officers on March 3, 1991. A bystander videotaped much of the incident from a distance.

Violence broke out after a California jury acquitted three white and one Hispanic Los Angeles police officers in his beating.

The riots that erupted on April 29, 1992, were among the most lethal in U.S. history. By the time order was restored, 53 people had died, nearly 3,000 people were injured and thousands of businesses were damaged or destroyed.

Nearly a year later, a federal jury convicted two of the police officers of a federal charge of violating King’s civil rights and sentenced them to 30 months in prison. Two other officers were acquitted. King eventually received a $3.8 million settlement from the city, and the case led to sweeping changes in LAPD.

King had recently been promoting his just-published memoir, "The Riot Within: My Journey From Rebellion to Redemption."

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

**UPDATE**

TMZ

Rodney King's fiancée is telling friends Rodney had been drinking all day Saturday ... and had smoked weed in the hours leading up to his death ... sources close to King tell TMZ.

According to our sources, King's fiancée, Cynthia Kelley, is telling friends King was at the house all day drinking, and he smoked marijuana at some point, before she went to bed at 2:00 AM.

We're told Kelley says she next saw King at around 5:00 AM when she was awoken by him screaming in the backyard. Our sources say Kelley found King naked, banging on the glass, and she called out to him, "What's wrong, Rodney?"

Kelley is telling friends she then went to grab her phone when she heard a big splash. She then went to the backyard and discovered him in the bottom of the pool and called police.

Paramedics attempted to revive King, but were unsuccessful.

Adam Yauch, one-third of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 47, Rolling Stone has learned. Yauch, also known as MCA, had been in treatment for cancer since 2009. The rapper was diagnosed in 2009 after discovering a tumor in his salivary gland.

Yauch sat out the Beastie Boys' induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April, and his treatments delayed the release of the group's most recent album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2. The Beastie Boys had not performed live since the summer of 2009, and Yauch's illness prevented the group from appearing in music videos for Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 2.

Yauch co-founded the Beastie Boys with Mike "Mike D" Diamond and Adam "Ad-Rock" Horowitz in 1979. The band started off as a hardcore punk group, but soon began experimenting with hip-hop. The band broke big with their first proper album, Licensed to Ill, in 1986, and further albums Paul's Boutique, Check Your Head and Ill Communication cemented the band as a true superstar act.

In addition to his career with the Beastie Boys, Yauch was heavily involved in the movement to free Tibet and co-organized the Tibetan Freedom Concerts of the late Nineties. In 2002, he launched the film production company Oscilloscope Laboratories.
