Brawl Breaks Out Live On CBS After Mixed Martial Arts Bout [Video]

Jake Shields' win at the Strikeforce World Championship Saturday night was overshadowed by a brawl that was never meant to happen.

CBS' telecast of the mixed martial arts competition ended in an unscheduled fight that broke out after Shields defeated Dan Henderson.

The fight started when Jason "Mayhem" Miller called for a rematch. Shields started to pummel Miller, only to be separated and have his spot taken by the crowd.

The show's host exclaimed on the loud speakers, "Gentleman, we're on national television," before cutting to commercial.

Miller later tweeted, "They didn't show the whole fight, which is silly, but everyone decided to go the distance tonight."

47 Year Old Former Football Great Herschel Walker Wins Mixed Martial Arts Debut [Video Inside]

Video After The Jump Proving that age really "aint nothin' but a number" former football great Herschel Walker displayed lots of heart and toughness in his MMA debut last night (Saturday January 31). Walker already had an amazing athletic pedigree going into the bout. He won the Heisman Trophy while playing for the University Of Georgia in 1982. Then moving on to professional football, he played in the short lived USFL league before moving on to the NFL. Where he was a star with the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles before retiring in 1997. So imagine being more than a decade removed from professional sports jumping into the world of Mixed Martial Arts. Herschel, a fifth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do took on 26 year old opponent Greg Nagy, He dominated the fight before the referee stopped it in the 3rd round declaring Walker the winner by TKO. Former Football Great Herschel Walker Signs On To Fight Mixed Martial Arts

FoxSports Reports NEW YORK (AP) - Herschel Walker is starting a new career in mixed martial arts. The 47-year-old former NFL running back said Monday that he has signed a multi-fight contract with promoter Strikeforce. Walker will begin a 12-week training camp next month in San Jose, Calif., with the American Kickboxing Academy. The 1982 Heisman Trophy winner already holds a fifth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. "I've been training for several years," Walker said in a statement. "I would play college football games on Saturday and then compete in martial arts tournaments on Sunday after church I'm now looking forward to opening up another chapter in my life and to competing in MMA." In 12 NFL seasons — playing for the Cowboys, Vikings, Eagles and Giants — he made the Pro Bowl twice. Walker has already had athletic success outside of football, making the two-man bobsled team at 1992 Winter Olympics. He finished seventh. "I flew to L.A. last month to watch Herschel train and was surprised to see his advanced wrestling and striking abilities," Strikeforce founder and CEO Scott Coker said in a statement. "He's got work ahead of him, but he's committed to training at one of the most notable gyms in the sport of MMA so it will be very interesting to watch him progress."
