(CNN) -- Rescuers carried an 11-year-old girl out of dense, swampy forest in Florida on Tuesday, four days after she disappeared.

The team, carrying Nadia Bloom in a cloth stretcher, trudged through brush for nearly two hours to bring her out of the area near Lake Jesup, northeast of Orlando, Florida, said Chief Kevin P. Brunelle of the Winter Springs Police Department.

He said that Nadia, who has been described as mildly autistic, was found shoeless and covered in insect bites. She was otherwise in good condition.

"She was not complaining of anything other than the fact that she had insect bites," Brunelle said.

"She did make two comments to the officers when they got there: 'Glad you guys found me, can't believe you rescued me,' " he said.

A paramedic with the group administered intravenous fluids to the girl, he said. Nadia was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and a doctor there said she smiled when she arrived and was "doing wonderfully," CNN affiliate WESH-TV reported.

"Her vitals were stable. She clearly has had the effects of being outside for five days," said Dr. Rakish Parekh at South Seminole Hospital in Longwood, Florida, according to WESH. "But she's handling it very, very well."

A member of the Bloom family's church who was participating in the search found Nadia, who had been missing since Friday, HLN reported.

James King called authorities around 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday to tell them that he had found her, Brunelle said.

Authorities used King's cell phone to track down his location, and then had a helicopter fly around the area to find him.

"Mr. King, himself, climbed a tree and was able to throw toilet paper on top of the tree back and forth in order to give us a location," Brunelle said.

"Mr. King is a hero. He led us to her," he said.

He said the rescuers had to chop through bushes and trees to carry Nadia back to where her family and reporters were waiting.

"It just shows the compassion of the human spirit when things like this happen. It should give everyone encouragement," Nadia Bloom's father, Jeff Bloom, told reporters after seeing his daughter.

Nadia was on a bike ride when she stopped to take some pictures and got lost, her father said.
"Our daughter's a nature lover," he said.

Authorities are interviewing King for further details, Brunelle said.

Authorities canceled an Amber Alert for the girl on Tuesday morning; the cancellation said "the case has been resolved" but provided no further details.

On the eve of her father’s impending jail sentence, Lil Wayne’s daughter is keeping her head up.

Reginae Carter, the 11-year-old daughter of Wayne and his ex-wife Antonia Carter, took to Twitter to thank her well wishers and share her feelings. “Thank all of yall but Im staying strong because I got family and friends that care for me,” she wrote.

Although her father won’t be around over the next year, Reginae remains optimistic. “I’m just happy he didn’t get a longer time,” she said.

Like her dad, she shares a love for sports, witnessing the Saints defeat the Colts at Sunday’s Super Bowl in Miami. “But on the bright side who saw the saints beat the colts,” she asked. “I did.”

Reginae’s mother and Weezy’s high school sweetheart Toya Carter also chimed in with her thoughts. “Sad day for me and my fam,” she tweeted.

Lil Wayne is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday morning in Manhattan Supreme Court to a year-long prison term for gun possession. It is likely he will start serving his time the same day.

Before heading to jail, the rapper reportedly shot 10 videos on Friday and Saturday in Miami, including one for “Da Da Da” off Rebirth.

Lil' Wayne was rollin' through Texas with marijuana on multiple tour buses, this according to the U.S. Border Patrol. Border Patrol agents tell TMZ a random search of the vehicles uncovered a pot stash on two buses -- but we're told no drugs were found on Wayne's person ... or anyone else in the entourage. Officials tell us a drug-sniffing K-9 unit picked up the scent outside the bus. Agents then walked the dogs onto the bus, where they located the weed. As we first reported, Wayne and 11 members of his entourage are being detained at an internal B.P. checkpoint in southern Texas. So far, no arrests have been made. Sacramento Bee Reports A 58-year-old convicted rapist and registered sex offender and his wife have been arrested in connection with the 1991 abduction of 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard, who surfaced alive in the Bay Area on Wednesday after disappearing for 18 years. Authorities were swarming the neighborhood on Walnut Avenue in Antioch where Phillip Craig Garrido, a 6-foot, 4-inch, 196-pound registered sex offender lived with his wife, Nancy Garrido, is listed on the state's Megan's Law sex offender Web site as being convicted of rape.

Phillip Craig Garrido, a registered sex offender, is reportedly a suspect in the abduction of Jaycee Lee Dugard. State parole officials said Garrido came to their attention after someone reported suspicious activity because he was seen near UC-Berekley with two small children. On Wednesday, parole agents and Concord police brought Garrido in for questioning, along with the two children and an adult female. During questioning, authorities said, Garrido confesse that he had abducted Dugard and the adult woman in his company revealed that she was Dugard. Garrido had served time in a federal prison in Nevada for sexual assault. Garrido's next-door neighbor said people in the area had known for years that Garrido was a registered sex offender and that at one point someone called authorities because they were concerned that there were children living in the home. Haydee Perry, 32, said her boyfriend has a 7-year-old daughter and that he was concerned about Garrido living next door. She said a friend of her boyfriend had called police a few years ago because there were children living in the Garrido home and other people were living in the yard in tents. Neighbors also noted that Garrido had a penchant for wandering the neighborhood distributing religious tracts and quoting Bible verse, she said. Perry added that nothing came of the call to police. Perry said she talked to a young girl at the home recently who she estimated was 11 and that the girl had indicated she had two older sisters, one a young teen and the other 28, about the same age as Dugard today. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office this morning confirmed the identity of the 29-year-old woman who walked into a Bay Area police station claiming to be Dugard. Further, in an extraordinary sequence of events today, federal and local law agencies renewed their focus on the 18-year-old mystery of what happened to the blond, blue-eyed girl who was abducted while walking to school June 10, 1991.

Jaycee Lee Dugard was abducted in 1991. El Dorado County sheriff's officials were preparing to release details on the case at a 3 p.m. press conference, but the girl's stepfather confirmed to The Bee early today that Jaycee had resurfaced and was being reunited with her mother. Carl Probyn, Jaycee's stepfather, said his wife and daughter were flying to Northern California to meet Dugard and that his wife, Terry, spoke with the young woman by phone Wednesday night. The Probyns, who are separated, live in Southern California, Carl in Orange County and Terry in Riverside. Terry Probyn and their daughter, Shayna, 19, boarded a 6 a.m. flight to the Bay Area to meet with Dugard, Carl Probyn said. Probyn said he is elated. "I'm just pleased that she is alive and well," said Probyn, a 60-year-old Orange County wallpaper contractor. Probyn, who has yet to speak with his stepdaughter, said he believes suspects who might have been involved with the abduction are in custody. Dugard's disappearance prompted a massive search, nationwide publicity and one of the largest police investigations in the region. Dugard was on her way to school when authorities said she was pulled into a stranger's car just a block away from her South Lake Tahoe home. Probyn said he heard her scream and saw a man and a woman drive his stepdaughter away in a gray two-tone sedan. Despite several false sightings, Dugard was never seen again. One person in the car was described as a 30-year-old woman with long, dark hair. Jaycee was last seen dressed in a pink windbreaker, white T-shirt and pink stretch pants. The stepfather said Shayna Probyn called Wednesday about 4 p.m. and said, "Mom has something to say to you. Are you sitting down?"

Telegraph.Co.UK Reports Eleven of the 1009 people surveyed thought Buzz Lightyear was the first person on the Moon. The Toy Story film character was named alongside Louis Armstrong. Eight of those taking part thought the late jazz musician made the first moon walk. Not quite three quarters correctly answered that Neil Armstrong took the first step onto the Moon. Eleven per cent of people polled thought the Apollo programme was a recent as the 1980s, with just 68 per cent knowing that the first moon landing took place in 1969. A total of 44 per cent considered the missions to be a waste of money. The survey was conducted for E&T magazine, published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Editor in chief Dickon Ross said: "The Apollo moon landing is mankind's most outstanding engineering event so it's deeply worrying that such a large number of people should think the first moon walk never happened and that the public's belief in the legitimacy of science and technology seems to be declining over time." Conspiracy theorists have pointed to a number of flaws in the pictures and footage from the Apollo missions as proof that the moon landings were staged. For instance, the US flag planted by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin was said to be waving in a breeze, which should not have been possible on the airless moon. Nasa's response was that the flag waved a little when deployed due to residual momentum from contact with the astronauts, not because of windy weather. Alleged light and shadow anomalies were the result of the highly reflective surface of the Moon and the wide-angle cameras used by the astronauts, said the space agency. Another question mark over the lack of dust kicked up by the lunar module was explained by the fact that the craft's rocket exhaust fired out sideways rather than straight down. Leading space scientist Professor John Zarnecki, from the Open University, said: "I think it would have been a far greater achievement to have mocked the whole thing up AND to have kept it quiet for four decades. "If one in four Britons today don't believe the moon landings ever happened, then I'm afraid that says a lot about one in four Britons. And what it says isn't very complimentary." He pointed out that moon rocks brought back to Earth by the Apollo astronauts were very similar to those returned by a series of unmanned Soviet probes. Veteran astronomer Sir Patrick Moore said about those who believe the moon landings were a hoax: "If ignorance is bliss they must be very happy.
