When Houston rapper Paul Wall shot to stardom in 2005 with his debut The People's Champ, he didn't have much of a weight problem.

But, as he blew up and his schedule got busier, his unhealthy habits began to catch up with him and if you browse through pictures of the rapper over the last five years, you'll notice the fluctuation in weight.

Eventually, Paul's syrup sippin' had to stop because he had ballooned to around 320 pounds. That's when, he says, he had to do something because his health was at risk.

"I tried doing it the legit way. I stopped sippin' "syrup, stopped taking pills ... all that, but it ain't work," Paul tells BallerStatus.com. "So I went out, went on and got surgery man.

"I lost 100 pounds, so I'm back at my fight weight. I'm ready. The champ is back."

Paul underwent what a procedure called gastric sleeve surgery just after New Year's. It basically"removes about 60 percent of the stomach so that it takes the shape of a tube or sleeve," according to Your Bariatric Surgery Guide. Before surgery, however, Paul tried to drop weight the all-natural way -- cutting out things in his diet and exercising. He actually ran on his treadmill and exercise bike on a regular basis. In the end, Paul said he had no choice but to go under the knife.

"[The surgery] saved my life for real," Paul said. "I really didn't have too much of a choice, because the doctor told me I was morbidly obese. So, I really didn't have a choice. I was like 'Man, I'm morbidly obese, I need to do something. Man, I got to save my life.' "

With a new healthy frame of mind, Paul says he ready to get back into the ring and on his grind. His first order of business is his upcoming album Heart of a Champion, set to drop July 13th.

Paul's good friend Travis Barker handled half of the album's production, while the Neptunes contributed to at least one track. Guest appearances include the likes of Jay Electronica, Raekwon, Jim Jones, and Kid Sister, among others.

Until July, fans can download his new mixtape, Sole Music, which he released last week.

It's that time again; time for Time Magazine to release their Time 100 list of the people they felt most influenced the world. The list is split up into four major categories: Leaders, Heroes, Artists and Thinkers. Of course, since we're pop culturally aware here at Hollywood Crush, Time's list of the 25 most influential artists caught our eye, and we think you might be a little bit surprised by some of the results.

What is unsurprising is that Lady Gaga took the top spot. The pop singer has had an extraordinary year; winning Grammy's, rocking the Billboard charts and revolutionizing the music industry. Cyndi Lauper said about Gaga in the article, "Most of the stuff on the radio is not very clever, but Gaga presents her ideas in a sophisticated manner. She has an incredible pop sensibility." We agree, and wouldn't be surprised if 10 years down the road Gaga is labeled one of the most influential people of the decade.

Those rounding out the top five also aren't very big surprises: Conan O'Brien (who probably wouldn't have made the list if he wasn't booted from "The Tonight Show" and hadn't rallied accordingly), Kathryn Bigalow (the first female director to win an Oscar), Oprah Winfrey (duh) and Valery Gergiev (an influential Russian conductor and opera director).

But then, plopped in squarely at #6, is our boy Robert Pattinson. "Influential" seems to be an understatement when used to describe the whirlwind hysteria "Twilight" has had on the world, with Rob unintentionally stuck in its center (unsurprisingly, People mag also acknowledged his prettiness this week as well).

"New Moon" director Chris Weitz spoke in Rob's honor to Time, saying, "So how to write about someone who seems to answer Freud's rhetorical question, What do women want? Perhaps it's just worth pointing out that it'd be fun to have a beer with him even if he weren't Edward Cullen. That we haven't seen a tenth of what he can do onscreen. And that important things, beyond the veil of Hollywood, occupy his time too music, conversation, ideas, a sense of the absurd. Which, maybe, explains why he never gets to my e-mails. I love you, Rob! Call me!"

Taylor Swift also got a nod at #9, thanks to winning some major Grammy's and also having her film debut (yes, in "Valentine's Day"). Stevie Nicks, who performed opposite her at the Oscars, compared her to Neil Diamond and Elton John, and said, "The female rock-'n'-roll-country-pop songwriter is back, and her name is Taylor Swift. And it's women like her who are going to save the music business."

Another surprise was Lea Michele being included in the list at number 13, though with the breakout success of "Glee" this past year — and Lea being front and center in its success — it shouldn't have been too much of a shock. Not only is she someone who is inspiring thousands across the States to follow their artistically-oriented dreams, but she also is someone we love to love, and see loved by other sites as well.

Rounding out the list is Sandra Bullock at number 22, and while we agree with the decision to include her, we're almost a little sad to see her this honor in light of everything that happened recently to help her deserve it.

She won her first Oscar, yes, had the most successful film of her career this summer and secretly adopted a baby, but also won a Razzie and ditched her husband — who turned out to be a real scumbag — in the process. While 2010 will always be known as the year Sandy had her comeback, we really feel bad that it had to go so poorly for her as well.

Former XXL Freshman alum B.o.B. is making big moves lately. The Atlanta MC snatched up the No. 1 position on The Billboard Hot 100 singles charts this morning (April 22) with his hit collaboration with Bruno Mars, “Nothin’ on You.”

XXLMag.com caught up the Grand Hustle artist during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last weekend—where he performed alongside Jay-Z, Wale and De La Soul—to find out his reaction to the track’s popularity.

At the time “Nothin’ on You” was No. 2 on the charts behind Rihanna’s “Rude Boy,” and Bobby Ray wasn’t exactly confident that he’d be able to overthrow the pop star. When asked if the song would be able to make it to No. 1, he said, “I dunno, because I have been hanging up there for a minute and she’s been hanging up there for a minute. So, it’s kinda like, whatchu gonna do? Fuck it. [It’s a] draw.”

During the interview B.o.B. said he didn’t care if he got the No. 1 spot. “It doesn’t matter at this point,” he explained. “It’s all to-ma-toes, to-mah-toes, No. 1 and No. 2—it’s like, ‘What do you see, the sun or the moon?’ They’re both there. Even though the sun is a little bigger, you see both of them.

Well, looks like the moon eclipsed the sun earlier today. “Nothin’ on You” is the lead single from Bob’s major label debut The Adventures of Bobby Ray. The disc, which features cameos from Eminem, T.I. and Lupe Fiasco, hits stores on Tuesday (April 27).

A cold-blooded Mafia hitman who called himself "Scarface" was arrested by Italian police on Tuesday after being tracked down via his Facebook account, The Sun reported.

Pasquale Manfredi, 33, was on Italy's 100 Most Wanted List and had been on the run for a year with police wanting to question him in connection with two bloody Mob hits.

The father-of-two is said to have been behind the murder of rival mobster Carmine Arena who was taken out with a bazooka in October 2004 and Pasquale Tripaldi a year later.

Officers had been tipped off that Manfredi was a fan of the global social networking site and regularly logged on using his laptop.

Using sophisticated electronic surveillance equipment in an operation codenamed Pandora, officers managed to locate Manfredi at an apartment in Isola Capo Rizzuto near Crotone in southern Italy.

The area is the heartland of the local Mafia, known as the N'drangheta, who are known for their vicious violence and were responsible for the so-called Duisburg Massacre two years ago in which six mobsters were gunned down in a German pizzeria.

Officers from the Rome Central Operation Service handled the investigation along with local officers in Crotone and were led by Edgardo Giobbi, who was also involved in the Meredith Kercher case.

Manfredi would log on under the Facebook name Georgie. Officers said they believed he received coded orders via the site and also kept in touch with mobsters.

Manfredi had more than 200 friends on his Facebook site and police are going through them systematically to see if any others are involved in Mafia activity or are wanted.

During the early morning raid on his top floor apartment Manfredi had tried to escape by climbing out of a window and running along roof tops but was eventually held.

Giobbi said: "Manfredi is a good catch. He is particular cold and cruel. We tracked him down because we had information he was using a key to log on to the Internet and in particular use Facebook.

"The operation lasted several months and was successful thanks to good police work and sophisticated technology. Manfredi is suspected of at least two murders and is also wanted for drugs and arms offences.

"He is a very dangerous character and he was on the country's 100 Most Wanted but now one can be taken off the list thanks to meticulous police work and a through investigation."

"Scarface" is a 1983 epic gangster film starring Al Pacino as Godfather Tony Montana.

This is not the first time Italian law enforcement has used Facebook to track down criminals. Last October, police near Rome arrested a burglar who logged on to the social network during a break-in and sent messages to his friends.

Rihanna replaces labelmate Taio Cruz atop the Billboard Hot 100, set to be released today (Thursday, March 18), as her latest single "Rude Boy" jumps 4-1.

"Rude" is Rihanna's sixth Hot 100 No. 1 and fifth as a lead artist. Her most recent chart-topper had been as a featured vocalist on T.I.'s "Live Your Life" in 2008. Her other leaders are "SOS" (2006, three weeks), "Umbrella," featuring Jay-Z (2007, seven weeks), "Take A Bow" (2008, 1 week) and "Disturbia" (2008, two weeks)

Since debuting on the scene in June 2005 with the No. 2-peaking "Pon De Replay," Rihanna has posted more Hot 100 No. 1 than any other artist. Next in line is Justin Timberlake who's scored five chart-toppers during this span.

AllHipHop Reports P.Miller made a recent stop at Southern California’s Save Our Kids event to speak to teens and parents on the importance of community involvement. As one of the most successful moguls in Hip-Hop history, Miller is often sought after by organizations for donations. While the former No Limit CEO is happy to honor those requests, he challenged those in attendance to be proactive in making a clear path for others to become inspired and follow. “Why [do] so many rappers and pro-athletes make it out and don’t come back to help the hood?” P. Miller questioned. “We have to take care of the hood ourselves and stop waiting for some celebrity or pro-athlete to come back and save us. I made it out. If one of you make it out, it’s important for you not to forget where you came from and always come back to help the next generation. That’s the reason that I’m here today because I really care about inspiring the next generation.” One of Miller’s notable philanthropic efforts is his work with onemilliongifts.org. The organization aims to deliver 1 million gifts to families across the nation in need by the end of the year. Each person, Miller explained, could make a huge communal impact by pooling their resources for good causes. “You will most likely read about celebrities ‘making it rain in the club’ than giving back to the community,” he admitted. “If we really want to take care of the hood, we’ve got to start with us. If each one of us, one person, gave at least one dollar to our community we could make a real difference… together, starting in our own community. We could save churches and organizations that help the community. We could also educate our kids, feed the homeless, and take care of the elderly, if we work together.” Last month, Miller teamed with Mark Wahlberg to supply thousands of Thanksgiving dinners to needy families in Los Angeles. New York Daily News Reports It's another first for this First Lady. Michelle Obama made her debut Wednesday on Forbes magazine's annual list of the world's 100 most powerful women, taking the 40th spot. "Not only is she a First Lady, she's the first African-American First Lady and that accords her a certain amount of power," said Heidi Brown, a ForbesWoman staffer who helped compile the list. When ranking the women, Brown said they take into consideration how much attention a candidate gathers - and Michele Obama is a media magnet. "She's done a lot to get her message out," Brown said. "She's been effective at reaching out not only to the media, but to regular people as well." Two years ago, then-First Lady Laura Bush was 60th on the Forbes list. Joining Michelle Obama on the Forbes list for the first time are other members of the still new Obama administration like Homeland Security honcho Janet Napolitano (51), SEC chief Mary Schapiro (55) and Health and Human Services head Kathleen Sebelius (56). Newly sworn-in Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor also debuted on list, in 54th place. Her fellow justice and New Yorker, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, was 48th. Sotomayor and Ginsberg may be the pride of New York, but Forbes deemed Indra Nooyi the city's most powerful woman. The chief executive officer of PepsiCo was ranked third - the same spot she occupied last year. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was 36th - down from the 28th spot she occupied on the list last year when she was a presidential candidate. Brown said another woman to watch for is Sallie Krawcheck (87), who after being forced out of Citigroup bounced back as Chief Executive for Global Wealth Management for Bank of America. Another high-powered New York executive, Mary Erdoes of J.P. Morgan, was ranked 100. This year's list does not include New York based media molls such as "Today" show host Meredith Viera, "CBS Evening News" anchor Katie Couric or "Good Morning America" co-host Diane Sawyer. Forbes included them on a separate list of media movers and shakers last month. "They wield a different a different kind of influence," Brown said. For the fourth straight year, German Chancellor Angela Merkel took the top spot, edging out Sheila Bair, the head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and last year's runner-up. The cover girl this year was Internet queen Carol Bartz of Yahoo!, who was No. 12 on the list.

AllHipHop Reports With rumors swirling about his possible “music retirement,” Mike Jones is setting the record straight about his future plans. In an in-depth interview with the Houston Press, Mike Jonesdefended himself against accusations from former friends and associates that he squandered his career and took advantage of them. "People hate on Mike Jones and what he done, but I sold 2 million. People hated on Mike Jones back then, but I still sold all my CDs. So I don't trip. Because you could hate, but at the end of the day the numbers prove that Mike Jones is still relevant and supposed to be here...You know what I'm saying?" The 2 million sales Jones references is the breakout success of his 2005 debut, Who Is Mike Jones? Power by a unique promotional campaign that included the rapper’s own personal phone number and the chart-topping success of “Still Tippin’,” Jones became an overnight superstar. Unfortunately, the Houston native could not capitalize on the success, and others speculate it was due to the rapper’s work ethic becoming erratic. It’s alleged that Jones alienated promoters but reneging on shows agreements, and DJ s began to refuse to play his records after breaking commitments with them as well. Additionally, label issues stalled the rapper’s sophomore album The Voice for over 3 years. Undeterred, Jones explained his plans to drop another LP entitled Expect the Unexpected later this year, and will focus on building himself back up through endorsement deals with Subway - he claims to have shed 100 pounds - and Cricket Wireless. "It's just my fan appeal lost a little bit," Jones admitted to the Houston Press. "The buzz, the momentum, lost a little bit. I was on Unsolved Mysteries. They don't know what happened to Mike Jones. He ain't dead. I'm in that glass six feet under trying to get y'all attention. Y'all walking right over me. I'm these dominoes right here. And I seen all y'all faces as y'all spit on me, and walked past me, and laughed, and said f**k me. Somehow I got out of that motherf**king coffin, though.” Mike Jones last album The Voice was released earlier this year, and charted in Billboard’s Top 20.

A sultry interloper has ousted Oprah Winfrey from the top spot on the Forbes list of the celebrities with the most juice. Angelina Jolie, who placed third last year, dethroned the media maven despite the fact that Oprah was once again the highest earner on the list. Neither lady, however, made the cover. That honor went to Beyonce Knowles, who finished in fourth place behind a resurgent Madonna. "Beyonce is the perfect example of how to succeed in the business of being a celebrity," Forbes Senior Editor Matthew Miller said. "She became famous singing, and now is maximizing her earnings by singing, writing songs, endorsing products, selling clothes and staring in movies." Both Winfrey ($275 million) and Madonna ($100 million) made way more more than Jolie ($27 million) in the last 12 months, but the Forbes' celebrity power ranking is also based on exposure. Jolie garners loads of that as one of Hollywood's leading ladies - and as the better half of Tinsel Town's hottest couple. Her squeeze is Brad Pitt, who was number 9 on the list, right behind Jennifer Aniston, the actress he dumped for Jolie Source: New York Daily News
