It has been rumored that the NFL wants Justin Timberlake and JAY-Z to perform at Super Bowl 52 on February 4, 2018. But if reports that have surfaced today are true, the league will have to look for another partner for Timberlake because Hov has thrown up a stop sign.
The Metro quotes remarks made by an insider to The Sun newspaper regarding JAY's lack of interest in the event.
"Lots of people have been saying Jay will perform with Justin Timberlake, but it is simply not the case," the insider says. "He has enough songs to create an incredible performance but he really has no plans to do the half-time show."
On Friday, September 15, JAY showed support for out of work NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, by dedicating the song "The Story of O.J." to him during a concert in New York City.
"I want to dedicate this song to anybody that was held back and you overcame whatever it was," Hov told the crowd.
Despite being more talented than a lot of QB's playing in the league, Kaepernick, has not been picked up by a team. Many believe he's being blackballed because he protested police brutality in America by kneeling during the National Anthem last season.
JAY's wife Beyonce received backlash following her halftime performance at Super Bowl 50 in 2016. The singer was criticized for being too political with her dedication to the Black Panther Party and for supporting Black Lives Matter.
Whether or not those are the reasons JAY-Z turned down the NFL's invite may never be known, but the league is certainly not used to being rejected by artists who have an opportunity to perform at the world's biggest sporting event.

Migos member Offset is honoring his late grandmother Sallie Ann Smith, who died of bladder cancer in 2012, by starting a $500,000 fundraiser via the American Cancer Society.
“It was really tough losing my grandma to cancer and one of the hardest things I have dealt with in my life. She motivated me to do my best and go for it; one of my biggest coaches," said Offset.
The 25-year old Lawrenceville, Georgia native hopes to inspire fellow colleagues, friends, business partners and fans to join in the fight with him.
“Losing a loved one to cancer is devastating, and we need to continue to help educate our communities about early detection and screening guidelines. I am incredibly proud of Offset’s desire to help save the lives of others, genuine heart, and talent as an artist," his mother, Latabia Woodward, said.

Chris Brown has rid himself of a legal headache by settling a lawsuit with a woman who accused him of physically assaulting her in Las Vegas last year.
Liziane Gutierrez filed a lawsuit in February of 2016, claiming the singer punched her in the eye and took her phone after she tried to take his photo during a private party in his Palms Hotel suite.
Brown denied the allegations and released a short video at the time telling his side of the story.
"Obviously, somebody is looking to get a check or start some shit," Brown says in the video. "I don't know this old-looking bitch. This bitch is old, like dusty. She probably came to my room and was too ugly to get in."
TMZ reports that settlement talks with Gutierrez started in the $70,000 range, but sources say the monetary amount agreed upon was substantially less.

DMX embarked upon his journey to get clean and sober last month by entering a rehab facility. He's responded to treatment extremely well.
TMZ reports that the 46-year old multi-platinum selling rapper, born Earl Simmons, has gained 40 pounds after entering the program with a physique that was nothing but skin and bones.
X has been allowed to take day trips with a friend to a town nearby.
The program is nearly completed, but his lawyer, Richard Murray, says things are going so well he wants his client to stay in an extra 30 days to continue treatment.
As we previously reported, DMX was ordered to enter the facility after violating the terms of his house arrest by testing positive 4 times for weed and cocaine, while out on bond in his tax evasion case.
X also left New York City to take care of some family matters in St. Louis, without getting court permission first.
The "Party Up (Up in Here)" hit maker is currently facing 14 counts of evading more than $1 million in federal taxes. If convicted he could be sentenced to 44 years in federal prison.
