It's been one year to the day that Pop Smoke tragically and senselessly lost his life to gun violence. The Brooklyn, New York native was on the cusp of stardom at the time.

Pop, born Bashar Jackson, found immediate commercial success with the release of his 2019 debut mixtape, "Meet the Woo." It spawned the hit songs "Dior" and "Welcome to the Party." As "Welcome to the Party" gained momentum, both Nicki Minaj and U.K. rapper Skepta hopped on it for two separate remixes.

The 20-year old went on to release "Meet the Woo 2" in February of 2020, and was working on his debut album when he died. The 50 Cent-executive produced posthumous project titled "Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon" debuted at number 1 on Billboard, when it was released on July 3, 2020.

Hit songs off of the album included "The Woo," "What You Know Bout Love," "Mood Swings," "For the Night," "The Woo," "Got It on Me" and "Something Special." All of them charted in the top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, with "For the Night" peaking at number 6.

Pop Smoke accomplished a lot in a short amount of time and his music will live on forever.

May he rest in peace.

Your Old Droog & Tha God Fahim’s second joint release, Tha YOD Fahim, is a celebration of the immense talents of its creators. They have an undeniable chemistry that started as guest appearances and has now blossomed into something greater. And while the world got an amazing appetizer in the form of 'Tha Wolf On Wall St' in January, the two like-minded artists are back just weeks later with this full-length release.

It’s a testament to their creative synergy and their gifts as artists who never compromise or hold back.

TAMPA, Fla. — A spokesperson for Vincent Jackon's family says the former Buccaneers wide receiver's brain will be donated to CTE research.

The spokesperson, Allison Gorrell, told multiple news outlets the 38-year old's brain will be sent to Boston University to determine if he had suffered from the degenerative brain disease.

Many questions surrounding Jackson's death still remain unanswered. The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office has said it could take months before an autopsy is even completed.

On Thursday, a report from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office revealed that, for two straight days, staff from the hotel Jackson's body was found in had seen the former Bucs player "slouched over" on a couch in his room. It wasn't until the third day workers called authorities who later discovered he had been dead.

According to the same report, a small cut was found on Jackson's big toe, but no other visible signs of injury were found.

The report also states Jackson had a history of alcohol use & used smokeless tobacco. But, it does not draw any conclusions about his cause of death. Jackson did not have any known history of drug use, the summary added.

According to Boston University, chronic traumatic encephalopathy, know as CTE, is a degenerative brain disease commonly found in "athletes, military veterans & others with a history of repetitive brain trauma."

Jackson retired from the NFL in 2018 after 12 seasons. He is the 4th leading receiver in Buccaneers history, putting up 4,326 yards & 20 touchdowns during his time with Tampa Bay.

Prince Markie Dee of the iconic 80s hip-hop group The Fat Boys has died at the age of 52, a rep said.

The Fat Boys’ manager Louis Gregory confirmed the death with a post on Twitter Thursday night.

“Forever in my Heart. Prince Markie Dee was more than a rapper; he was one of my very best and closest friends,” read the tweet from Louis “Uncle Louie” Gregory.

“My heart breaks today because I lost a brother. I’ll always love you Mark and I’ll cherish everything you taught me. Tomorrow is your birthday, swing my way big bro.”

The Fat Boys burst onto the scene with their single “All You Can Eat” in 1985. Their 1984 self-titled debut album was produced by rap legend Kurtis Blow and included the singles “Jail House Rap” and “Can You Feel It?”

They also starred in the movie “Disorderlies” in 1987 and made a cameo in the classic film “Krush Groove” in 1985.

The group’s fusion of freestyle beats and self-deprecating lyrics was influential to generations of musicians and lyricists who mimicked their slapstick style.

“They were figuratively (no weight jokes) the biggest act in hip hop at some point in time,” Questlove wrote on Instagram.

“Like the first act that showed this culture might have some real international legs to it … They were so dope we just took them for granted. They did dope routines & dancesteps, albums went gold & platinum. Did movies & tv & commercials. They explored territories for the first time that today just seems like yawn a Tuesday.”

Video After The Jump

MOBILE, ALABAMA  (WKRG) Family members of the two people found dead after a house fire in Mobile confirm they were the grandparents of local rapper HoneyKomb Brazy, whose real name is Nahson Jones.

The family members identified the couple as Lelia & Tony Lewis. According to the family, they were shot & killed, & their home was then set on fire.

“We don’t know how it happened, but we do know someone came & did this. We know it was gruesome, like no one deserved to be taken from here like that. Not only our family, no human life. They had no regards for human life when they did what they did. This just don’t make no sense. You have hurt so many lives, daughters, sons, grandkids, great grandkids. You’re talking about a couple that had been together over 50 years. Everybody knew them & loved them. To know them was to love them. They didn’t deserve this. Who does something like this? When do they stop? When is enough is enough. Y’all done took two innocent people here that lived their lives & to be this age & to leave here like that – that’s crazy,” said Letecha Lang, a family member.

The fire started around 6:30 Wednesday night on Dr. Thomas Avenue, and was so large, it spread to the home next door. Pearlie Howard lives there with her son, Jesse Hall. They say they didn’t see what happened, but heard the gunshots. “We hit the floor, saw bullets fly across us, so we got low and waited for 10 minutes & then finally came out of the house & we saw both houses on fire,” said Hall.

The family of the Lewis’ – now waiting & hoping for justice. “People like this though don’t need to be on the streets. People like this definitely need to be in prison,” said Lang.

ATF investigators have also been on the scene of the investigation.

Roxanne Luciano Digs Deep In the DJ Crates with This 90's “Whoomp There It Is” and Sada Baby's Whole Lotta Choppas Inspired Remix In Her New Heavy Bass-driven Club Banger "Whole Lotta A**"

Growing up in the music business, Luciano has met and worked with reputable artists across all genres. Staying true to herself, this dynamic artist has crossed over barriers and is killing the scene. So much so, the legendary Tony Mercedes, whose career total sales exceed over 80 million units, is the driving force behind newcomer Roxanne Luciano.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Luciano: My name is Roxanne Luciano. I was born in Atlanta and raised in Los Angeles. I am 25 years old and pursuing my dreams in the music industry. I also have done a bit of modeling and am also studying for a degree in Business Management.

What differentiates you from other artists?

Luciano: I am who I am, and that is just that. My life is being raw, rich in spirit, and rebellious. I’m not trying to be like anyone else other than me.

What motivates you in and out of the booth?

Luciano: I think the motivation just comes from a place of genuine passion. The motivation comes from the desire to put my voice out into the world and in the studio. I am allowed to do that, and I can open up and be myself without being afraid. Fighting my own fears is my main motivation.

What are a few surprising things about you?

Luciano:

I am working on my own food business. I am very shy. I wish I had a clone of myself.

What do you feel you contribute to the culture as an artist?

Luciano: I feel that I contribute something that is not seen enough, in my opinion, especially being a woman. I feel like I can contribute not only a place for rapping but also a place for singing and just expressing myself in so many different ways musically.

What’s next for you musically?

Luciano: Musically, I want to hit any and every avenue that I can. I don’t just want to be labeled as one genre type artist. I want to channel outlets that I never thought I could in this industry.

Where can everyone follow you on social media?

Luciano: IG and Twitter @officialroxanneluciano.

Whole Lotta A**  is officially released!

Dr. Dre's estranged wife is demanding access to their marital home because she's pretty sure someone's been wearing her expensive shoes ... and it ain't Goldilocks.

Nicole Young just filed docs in their nasty divorce war, asking the court to allow her access to the Brentwood home, where she used to live with Dre, because she's left a bunch of personal belongings there.

In the docs, Nicole says she left back in April 2020 with a "bare minimum" of her stuff. Nicole claims she had to get out in a hurry because Dre was drunk and yelling, "F**k you. Get the f**k out. Go to Malibu."

She left a ton behind ... according to Nicole, her loot includes designer and vintage handbags, couture clothing and 20 fur coats in a "cedar and temperature-controlled" closet. BTW, she says her regular closet and "boutique room" at the home is about 1,000 sq. feet!!!

Since she's left, Nicole says she's observed several different women posting photos and videos inside the house -- and she claims some of Dre's visitors might be wearing her stuff.

For instance, Nicole claims one of Dre's playmates posted a photo in his bathroom while wearing what appear to be her Chanel slides. She's also upset Dre throws huge parties -- like one he had in October for the NBA Playoffs -- because she thinks with all the drinking, it's just a matter of time before someone damages or takes her belongings.

Oh, and one more thing ... Nicole's worried Dre might pack up her remaining property and just send it to storage. She says that would be catastrophic for her furs, which must remain in that temperature-controlled closet.

After fans leaked Meek Mill’s Kobe Bryant helicopter lyric, the rapper had to face his critics for the way he referenced the late NBA star in an unreleased song titled “Don’t Worry,” featuring fellow rapper Lil Baby. Despite backlash from fans, Meek took to Twitter to slam his detractors for their “internet antics.”

Social media users began calling for the “Going Bad” rapper, 33, to be canceled over his new track when a snippet of it leaked late on Wednesday, February 17. Fans quickly caught onto lyrics referencing Kobe’s helicopter accident in January 2020, which proved fatal for the NBA player, 41, his daughter Gianna, 13, & seven others. Meek’s lyrics read: “This bitch I’m f**kin’ always tell me that she love me, but she ain’t ever showed me / Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m goin’ out with my chopper, it be another Kobe.”

Many listeners took issue with the reference, questioning why Meek had to name-drop Kobe to make a point just over a year after his death. Yet Meek, for his part, wasn’t interested in listening to their concerns. “Somebody promo a narrative & y’all follow it…. y’all internet antics cannot stop me ….shit like zombie land or something! Lol,” he tweeted early Thursday morning. “They paying to influence y’all now … its almost like mind control ‘wake up.’”

Many fans remained critical of the rapper, urging him to reconsider in the replies to his tweet.”Bro you feeling the pressure to use a real black community icon just to sell a new song,” wrote one Twitter user, noting that the verse was “disrespectful” to his grieving family. Another weighed in, “[Kobe] died with his daughter, her friends, & other people. His wife & surviving children won’t feel good hearing that at all. It’s been only a year. They aren’t rappers. They aren’t musicians. They aren’t gangster. Have some tact.”

The NBA & the National Basketball Players Association have completed details for the March 7 All-Star Game in Atlanta, saying Thursday it will generate more than $2.5 million for historically Black colleges & COVID-19 relief efforts.

The game has been criticized by some of the league’s top players, who voiced concerns about having it during a pandemic. It also drew concern from Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who made clear that fans shouldn’t come to the city for All-Star festivities since there won’t be public events surrounding the game.

But the charitable elements were a major factor in the league pressing on. The game will partner with organizations such as the Thurgood Marshall College Fund & United Negro College Fund to “highlight the importance of HBCUs & raise awareness around the disparate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color,” the league said.

“NBA All-Star in Atlanta will continue our annual tradition of celebrating the game & the greatest players in the world before a global audience,” Silver said.

The game is bringing back the format that was used last year: a target score to end the game, something that will again pay tribute to Kobe Bryant. Each of the first 3 quarters will start with a 0-0 score, then will be re-tallied for an untimed 4th quarter. The leading score through 3 quarters will have 24 points — a nod to Bryant’s jersey number — added, & the first team to hit that target wins the game.

Teams again will be selected by playing captains. LeBron James has been a captain in all 3 previous instances of that format; the Los Angeles Lakers star is the front-runner to be one again, as was Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets based on the most recent fan-voting results.

The captains for the game — which will be the leading fan vote-getters — will be announced Thursday evening, as will the other eight starters.

Reserves will be announced next week.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to trade Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts, according to a person familiar with the deal.

The Eagles will receive a third-round pick in this year’s draft and a conditional second-round pick in 2022 that can turn into a first-round pick if Wentz plays 75% of the snaps this year or 70% and the Colts make the playoffs.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn’t been announced.

Wentz is coming off the worst season of his five-year career and was benched for rookie Jalen Hurts after 12 games. He finished third in NFL MVP voting in 2017 when he led the Eagles to an 11-2 record before a knee injury ended his season and Philadelphia went on to win its only Super Bowl title.

The deal reunites Wentz with Colts coach Frank Reich, who served as Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator his first two seasons in the league. The Colts are turning to their fourth starting quarterback in Reich’s four years. Andrew Luck retired abruptly before 2019 season and Jacoby Brissett took over. Philip Rivers led the team to the playoffs in his only season in Indianapolis in 2020. After Rivers retired, Wentz became an ideal fit for the team.

Wentz is entering the first season of a four-year, $128 million contract he signed in June 2019. The Eagles will absorb a significant salary cap hit of $33.8 million in dead money on their 2021 cap.

The Eagles traded up twice in the 2016 NFL draft to select Wentz with the No. 2 overall pick. He started all 16 games as a rookie and had a breakout sophomore season before he tore two knee ligaments in Week 14 and watched Nick Foles lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl win over New England.

A back injury ended Wentz’s season early in 2018 and Foles led the Eagles to a playoff victory.

Wentz started every game in 2019 and helped the Eagles win the NFC East with an excellent four-game stretch in December. He became the first NFL quarterback to throw for 4,000 yards without a wide receiver having 500 yards receiving and became the first to throw 20 or more touchdowns and seven or fewer interceptions in three straight seasons.

But he was knocked out of his first career playoff start after nine snaps because of a concussion. Wentz hasn’t been the same since that hit from Jadeveon Clowney. He posted a 72.8 passer rating, 16 interceptions and lost four fumbles in 12 starts in 2020. The Eagles finished 4-11-1.

Rapper Honeykomb Brazy is mourning the loss of his grandparents this morning after a fire engulfed their Mobile, Alabama home Wednesday night.

WKRG 5 reports that gunshots were heard by neighbors prior to the fire starting.

“All I heard was a boom. It sounded like a bunch of shots,” said one witness. “Lord have mercy. Don’t tell me they were up in there because Lord, I heard the children coming across the field crying.”

There has been speculation on social media that this incident may have something to do with beefs the Rap-A-Lot Records rapper was involved in. Brazy seemed to confirm that in an Instagram post.

"Long live grandma n grandpa y’all was my heart fr I put y’all in every song I hate y’all got caught up In my Shìt smh this Shìt hurt main," Brazy wrote. "I beg y’all to let me move y’all everyday but y’all Taught me how to be stand up guy y’all always told me If it’s our time it’s our time god got us that’s how ik y’all in heaven y’all baby boy got y’all fasho granny granny Ima miss u bad already n I’ma fasho miss smoking that gas gas wit u grandpa y’all save me a spot cause I’m most definitely coming to see y’all."
