LOS ANGELES — If you want to blow it out for the debut of "DJ Hero," there's no bigger than Jay-Z and Eminem. The iconic MCs shared the mic at the Wiltern on Monday night, in a rare joint appearance to celebrate the launch of the new game in front of a celebrity-studded audience that included Leonardo DiCaprio, Pete Wentz, Tyrese and Blink-182's Mark Hoppus.
The packed crowd was treated to a thrilling set from Jay that included some of his biggest hits. His performance concluded with a surprise appearance from Slim Shady himself — fresh from his run-in with Brüno at the MTV Movie Awards — who grabbed the mic and traded verses with Jay on "Renegade" before taking over the stage for his own mini-set.
The night kicked off with a set from TRVS/DJAM, which found Blink drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM chopping it up in their unique style, hopping from Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" through Bell Biv Devoe's "Poison," Michael Jackson's "Rock With You," Metallica's "Enter Sandman," the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" and Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."
The duo were joined by West Coast hip-hip royalty Warren G for a spin through "Regulate" before the house band took over for a bit of "Guitar Hero" action.
It wasn't a long wait, though, as Jigga soon hit the stage with a live band — the Roc Boys — and slammed the crowd with "U Don't Know," sending the room into a frenzy as he quickly followed up with a barrage of hits including "99 Problems," "Can I Live" "Jigga What," "Public Service Announcement" and his verse from "Swagga Like Us."
The set raged on with spins through "Blue Magic," "My President Is Black," "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and Lil Wayne's "A Milli," ending the set with a rock remix of "Encore." And just when it seemed the set was over, Jay came back out, admitting that he "forgot something," and asked the audience if he could do one more.
The "Renegade" beat dropped, and as he began his verse, the room went crazy. Out sauntered Eminem to perform the song, which he produced for Jay's The Blueprint album, onstage with Jay for the first time in years. Then it was Slim Shady's turn to take over, as he rolled out his latest single, the gory "3 A.M.," which went into a trio of other new songs from his recently released #1 comeback album, Relapse: "Underground," "We Made You" and "Crack a Bottle." The set closed with Em's classic "Lose Yourself." Though all the chatter on Monday was about the MC's encounter with a certain Austrian fashion reporter the night before, the dis-happy rapper didn't mention Brüno once from the stage, focusing instead on delivering a knock-out performance.

MARION 'SUGE' KNIGHT will face a lawsuit if he continues with plans to call his music label Blackball Records - the owners of a company with the same name are threatening him with legal action.
Knight co-founded Death Row Records in 1991 but lost the rights to the label's assets after declaring bankruptcy in 2006. The company was subsequently sold off and Knight started a new label - reportedly using the Blackball name since 2008.
But the owners of another Blackball Records, a San Fransisco, California-based firm, have issued a cease and desist letter to Knight, warning him to drop the name or face a showdown in court.
Knight claims to have filed for the copyright in 2006, but dropped it earlier this year (09), according to TMZ.com, while officials at Blackball Records claim to have held the trademark since 2002

PARIS, France (CNN -- An Air France plane missing over the Atlantic with 228 people aboard reported electrical problems before it lost contact, the airline said Monday.
The incident involves an Air France Airbus A330-200.
The Airbus A330-200 jet had experienced turbulence during the 11-hour flight from Rio de Janeiro to Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, the spokesman said.
Brazil's air force has launched a search near the archipelago of Fernando de Noronha in the Atlantic Ocean, 365 km (226 miles) from Brazil's coast, a spokesman for the air force told CNN.
Two Brazilian squadrons are searching for the plane, although it disappeared after it left the country's radar space, said the officer, who declined to be named.
The flight, AF 447, took off shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday local time (6 p.m. Sunday ET) for the 11-hour flight, with 216 passengers and 12 crew members. It was scheduled to land in Paris at 11:15 a.m. local time (5:15 a.m. ET).
The last known contact with the plane was at 1:33 a.m. GMT (8:33 p.m. Sunday night ET), the Brazilian Air Force spokesman said.
Air France said it could not confirm reports of a short circuit on board the aircraft.
The airline said it "shared the emotion and the concern of the families concerned" adding that friends and relatives waiting at the airport would be taken to a special area.
A crisis center is being set up at Charles de Gaulle where the plane had been due to land at 11.15 a.m. local time.
Agence France-Presse quoted France's Environment Minister Jean Louis Borloo saying that it was extremely unlikely the plane had been hijacked.
"We are very worried," an aviation official told AFP. "The plane disappeared from the screens several hours ago. It could be a transponder problem, but this kind of fault is very rare and the plane did not land when expected."
The Airbus 330 is a twin-engine long-range aircraft introduced into commercial aviation in the 1990s.
Transport analyst Kieran Daly told CNN that the lack of communication with the aircraft "does suggest it was something serious and catastrophic."
He said the aircraft involved is believed to be one delivered to Air France in April 2005. Watch aviation expert describe possible scenarios »
"It is an extremely young fleet by aviation standards," he said. "The A330 is state of the art with extremely reliable engines made by General Electric."
CNN air travel expert Richard Quest says the plane, a stalwart of trans-Atlantic routes, has an impeccable safety record.
"It has very good range, and is extremely popular with airlines because of its versatility," he said.
