As previously reported here on PaperChaserDotCom, Richard "Syco Sam" McCroskey killed 4 people last year in Virginia. Today (September 20) he plead guilty to all four murders.Video After The JumpFARMVILLE, VIRGINIA -- The suspect in the quadruple homicide that horrified this quiet college town a year ago pleaded guilty to murder charges today and was ordered to spend life in prison.
Richard Samuel Alden McCroskey III, 21, of California, pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder and two counts of first-degree murder in Prince Edward County Circuit Court for bludgeoning the victims with a wood-splitting maul a year ago in a Longwood University professor's home in Farmville.
McCroskey, who could have faced the death penalty, was sentenced to life in prison. He opted not to address the courtroom, which was occupied by family members of all four victims, law enforcement investigators and others.
Prince Edward County Commonwealth's Attorney James Ennis said McCroskey's anger about his relationship with his girlfriend, Emma Niederbrock, 16, led to the killings. McCroskey killed Emma; her mother, Longwood University professor Debra S. Kelley; Kelley's estranged husband, Mark Niederbrock; and Emma's friend, Melanie Wells, who was visiting from West Virginia.
Ennis said members of the victims' families supported his decision to reach the plea agreement instead of going to trial and seeking the death penalty.
"What it really means is death in prison," Ennis said after the hearing. "It's a guaranteed outcome, and hopefully it will bring some measure of closure to the family."
Defense attorney Cary Bowen said his objective had been to minimize McCroskey's punishment and serve his interest as best as possible.
"He's left families without their loved ones," Bowen said. "There are four people dead here. He's not proud of that."
He said McCroskey is remorseful and has contemplated the severity of what he did.
A family spokeswoman released a statement from Kelley's parents, Thomas and Margaret Kelley, saying they are thankful that the case is over and that they may now "have some degree of closure." They also thanked police and everyone who supported them.
"We have endured a tragedy of unspeakable proportion," the statement reads. "We are relieved that justice has been done. While we will never forget our loved ones or the circumstances of their deaths, we hope to move forward and begin the healing process."

Other family members did not wish to comment, the spokeswoman said.
McCroskey, who recorded "horrorcore" rap music with lyrics that obsessed about murder and graphic violence, had been in an online relationship with Emma for about a year when he came to visit her in September of last year, Ennis said.
Kelley and Mark Niederbrock took Emma, McCroskey and Wells to a horrorcore music festival several days before McCroskey killed them. Ennis said McCroskey was angered by some text messages Emma sent while they were in Michigan.
They returned to Virginia, and McCroskey became increasingly distraught about the relationship, Ennis said. He had an expectation that he and Emma were seeing each other exclusively and was unhappy with how things were going, Ennis said.
Late in the evening of Sept. 14, 2009, or early the next morning, McCroskey drank beer, smoked marijuana and might have taken painkillers before he attacked the three female victims in the house as they were sleeping, Ennis said. He killed each within a short period of time around 3 a.m. on Sept. 15.
Ennis said that McCroskey first killed Wells, who was on a sofa in a first-floor den, then Kelley in an upstairs room, and finally Emma in her downstairs bedroom. He struck each victim multiple times with the maul.
"No one awoke," Ennis said, adding that the victims had no defensive wounds.
Mark Niederbrock arrived at the home Sept. 17 about 5 p.m., and McCroskey attacked him with the maul in a living room, Ennis said. McCroskey later moved Mark Niederbrock's and Wells' bodies into Emma's room, and he attempted to clean up the bloody den, Ennis said.
At some point, McCroskey used a digital camera to record a video of himself, Ennis said. In the video, he indicated that he knew he had to pay for what he had done and contemplated suicide, Ennis said.
The bodies were discovered in the home Sept. 18, and McCroskey was captured the next day at Richmond International Airport as he awaited a flight home to California

Actor Bryan Cranston will be the host on that night.
Yeezy's been premiering a lot of new music recently via his G.O.O.D. Fridays campaign. He also dropped the brand new track "Runaway" during his recent performance at the VMA's. So it's a good bet we might hear something new from the Louis Vuitton Don as he preps the release of his fifth solo album later this year.

Police in the Colombian city of Barranquilla "arrested" a parrot after he helped several alleged drug dealers and thieves get away during a raid, the daily El Heraldo reported Thursday.
The incident happened Wednesday, when close to 300 police officers arrived to raid a house following numerous complaints that it was used as a hideout by thieves and drug dealers, dpa reported.
When officers arrived at the house they heard a voice that said insistently, "Run, run or the cat will get you!"
They found Lorenzo, a parrot who had been trained to alert residents upon the arrival of the authorities. Everyone who had been in the house managed to get away.
Police then seized the bird and handed it over to an organization for the protection of animals. Officers also arrested four people and seized 250 knives and marijuana.
Police officer Edues Munoz, who took part in the raid, told El Heraldo that while the bird was being taken away in a police car, it kept saying, "Run, run!"
Television reporters went to visit the parrot at Environmental Department facilities in Barranquilla, where it is set to be looked after by vets. When asked by reporters what it had told his previous owners, Lorenzo replied, "Run, run or the cat will get you!"

Lloyd Banks sat down with VladTV to chop it up about his new deal with EMI, and why it was the bet fit for him.
"EMI hopped on the momentum of what we [G-Unit] were doing already. Everything else they put in is just an added bonus," Banks said.
The PLK had lots of other opportunities with other labels. A big rumor had G-Unit moving to Def Jam, considering Sha Money XL is their Vice President of A&R, but obviously that didn't pan out.
"EMI presented the best opportunity for me. It was one of the first opportunities they came my way too," Banks explains. "It was more about everybody else trying to play catch up, trying to match what they did."Read more…

Former Playboy Playmates, Karrisa and twin sister Kristina Shannon are trying to give the Kardashian sisters a run for their money in the publicity department.
The two starred in the reality show 'Girls Next Door'. Then got kicked out of the Playboy mansion, after Hugh Hefner got fed up with them screwing around with other guys. They're not afraid to scrap either, both have been arrested for assault.
Now comes word that Karrisa is about to put out a sex tape that will show her getting her back blown out by 'Smallville' actor Sam Jones, according to TMZ.
The tape is going to be distributed by Vivid Entertainment. The same company that has brought us XXX tapes by Paris Hilton, Montana Fishburnes, Kim Kardashian and Kendra Wilkinson.
Vivid CEO Steve Hirsch told TMZ this tape will be the best one yet.

Singer and songwriter Bruno Mars was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession early Sunday morning at the Hard Rock, Las Vegas police confirmed.Sgt. John Sheahan said Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, was arrested about 2:40 a.m. Sheahan said Hard Rock security confronted him in a bathroom and discovered him with narcotics.
Sheahan did not know Sunday afternoon what drug Mars possessed.
Mars has soared to popularity this year. He is known for singing and also for co-writing the hits 'Nothin' On You' by B.o.B, and 'Billionaire' by Travie McCoy. He also co-wrote 'Right Round' by Flo Rida.
On Saturday, Mars had tweeted his fans asking them to come watch him perform at the Hard Rock.

"Over the years it has always been me, Wayne and Mack [Maine] as far as communicating back and forth," Cory said. "It has always been a little miscommunication as far as my deal. Now it's figured out. Mack Maine was real instrumental in wanting to get the situation done. One thing led to another and it's about to be history."

Kelly has never looked or sounded better. She seems to have hit her stride with more uptempo songs, after working with David Guetta on "When Love Takes Over" and "Commander".

Eccentric singer, Kelis has reached a point in her career where she doesn't want to be a typical pop star. The need to make music that has mass appeal is not something she is interested in anymore.
In a recent interview with UK's Guardian, Nas' baby mama talked about her career and trends she sees in the industry that she doesn't like.
"Everyone is trying so hard to be different that it's contrived and unnatural. I find it hard to appreciate," she says. "Everyone's attention span is getting shorter. As a result, everything – films, music, art – gets watered down and dumber. Every now and again, you get something great, but not often."
Fed up with industry trends, the 31 year old singer is now focused on making music she enjoys. Even if that means fans might not get it sometimes.
"There's a difference between a pop star and an artist. Pop stars have to be perfect all the time; an artist is allowed, on occasion, to suck. And I put myself in that category because I sometimes suck. I'm not trying to please the masses. It's not going to happen, so I don't try," she admits.
"I think I brought an honesty to music. There are prettier chicks, better dancers, and lots of people out there could probably sing better than me. I'm just the only me there is. And that's what makes it worth something. I don't think I'm the best at anything. It's just there's no one else like me, and somehow it works."

The Australian Pacific Sun cruise liner was around 400miles from the coast of New Zealand when giant waves hit the boat causing it to list violently.
And as the ship struggles in the high seas, staff and guests are sent flying backwards and forwards, trying to grab on to anything nailed down - and failing.
Heads up: A lady careens into a pillar on the fifth floor after the cruise liner was caught up in heavy storms
The waves were so powerful that they lashed as high as the fifth deck.
The receptionists are shown clinging on to their desks and computers before the more severe waves hit the liner.
But soon they, and the guests, are sent careering across the floor like rag dolls, helpless and out-of-control.
The Pacific Sun was on the return leg of an eight-night sailing to the Islands of Vanuatu when the storm hit.
Diners were sitting down for their evening meal shortly after dark...one described the scene as 'like being in a disaster movie

Tables, chairs and passengers are hurled from side to side. Several people are injured by sliding tables and chairs, as well as by getting slammed into columns.
P&O offered passengers a 25 per cent discount on their next cruise - but after this ordeal one would suppose that all of those involved would be happier on terra firma.
The CCTV footage from the incident, which took place in 2008, has just been released by the Liveleaks website.
One passenger, Elizabeth Basher, suffered a fractured knee during the storm: 'We were getting a pre-dinner drink at the bar, moved to a safe place to be on the carpet to get some traction, and suddenly it happened, and we were just thrown across towards a plate-glass window,' she said
A second video taken below deck shows heavy equipment, including a forklift, being tossed around like toys and narrowly missing a crew member.
A Carnival Australia spokesperson, the parent company for P&O, said the footage had been seen before and described the conditions at sea as 'extreme'.
David Johns said: 'A series of waves buffeted the ship, having an impact for people onboard.
'This was an exceptionally rare occurrence.The incident was fully investigated and lessons learnt have been heeded, including the securing of tables and other furnishings aboard.'

Video After The JumpThis dude wasn't playing around at all.Gunman comes running from the parking lot towards the front door of this Sonic restaurant, with a rifle, firing the whole time.
His gun jams for a second, once he gets it fixed, he blasts through the glass door.
The restaurant had just closed, so most of the employees were in the back counting money. The gunman quickly finds them. Since there is no sound, you can't hear what is said, but they all run like hell.
The robber bags the money and bounces.
This happened in Greenville, South Carolina a couple of days ago. There are reports that this store has been hit several times in the last few months.
If I worked there I'd be looking for a new gig, like yesterday.
