A trans woman who raped 2 women before she changed gender has been moved to a men's prison.
Isla Bryson was remanded to Cornton Vale women's prison in Stirling after being convicted of the rapes when she was a man called Adam Graham. She has since been moved to HMP Edinburgh.
Bryson decided to transition from a man to a woman while awaiting trial.
She was taken to a male wing of HMP Edinburgh on Thursday afternoon.
It came after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that Bryson would not be allowed to serve her sentence at Cornton Vale.
Bryson is due to be sentenced next month after being convicted of the rapes on Tuesday. It is thought to have been the first time a trans woman has been convicted of raping women in Scotland.
But where that sentence should be served has been the subject of heated debate, with concerns being raised about the safety of other women in the female jail if Bryson was placed there.
The Scottish Parliament passed legislation last month aimed at making it easier for people to change their legally-recognized sex, but Ms Sturgeon has said the changes did not play any part in the Bryson case.
Speaking at First Minister's Questions in the Scottish Parliament, Ms Sturgeon said she agreed that it was not possible to have a rapist within a women's prison.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (KWTX) - Eric Laranze Taylor, 28, of San Antonio, was sentenced to 35 years in prison after a jury convicted him of human trafficking & 15 years in prison for aggravated promotion of prostitution.
Taylor was arrested & charged in 2018 after a joint investigation by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), Bexar County District Attorney’s Office & Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began in the summer of 2018 after investigators received reports that a 16-year-old girl was working as a dancer at multiple sexually oriented businesses in central Texas, including some licensed to sell alcohol by TABC.
Further investigation revealed the girl had been recruited over social media by a man, identified as Taylor, to dance as a stripper at various men’s clubs & engage in prostitution.
Investigators also learned that Taylor provided the child with fraudulent ID documents to help her get hired at the clubs.
Investigators later found evidence showing Taylor, over several months, had recruited at least 3 minors & 2 18-year-old women to come to San Antonio to live with him & work at multiple strip clubs in San Antonio, Houston & Travis County.
Agents from TABC’s Special Investigations Unit identified & charged several managers at clubs in these locations who hired the minors to work as dancers, resulting in one of the clubs — Blush Men’s Club of San Antonio — having its liquor license canceled by the agency in 2019.
Details of the operation were also shared with members of the Texas Legislature, who later passed legislation prohibiting sexually oriented businesses from hiring anyone younger than 21 & requiring employers to use E-Verify & other tools to ensure all workers are of legal age.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — The 5 officers fired for their involvement in the beating & death of Tyre Nichols have been booked into the Shelby County Jail Thursday morning.
The officers are charged with the following: Justin Smith – Two counts of official misconduct, official oppression, second-degree murder, aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated kidnapping. Tadarrius Bean – Second- degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconducts and official oppression. Demetrius Haley – Second degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct and official oppression. Emmitt Martin III – Second degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct and official oppression. Desmond Mills Jr. – Second degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct and official oppression.
Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., and Justin Smith were terminated last Friday. They were indicted by a grand jury Thursday and taken into custody.
Memphis Police posted the following statement to Twitter as well as Facebook:
“The Memphis Police Department has concluded its administrative investigation into the tragic death of Mr. Tyre Nichols. After a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding this incident, we have determined that five (5) MPD officers violated multiple department policies, including excessive use of force, duty to intervene, and duty to render aid.”

Four suspects have been arrested for the involvement of the case of the Lousiana State University student who was hit and killed by a vehicle in Baton Rouge earlier this month.
According to East Baton Rouge Police Department, a 17-year-old juvenile and Kaivon Deondre Washington, 18, are being accused of third-degree rape.
Two other men, Everette Lee, 28, and Casen John Carver, 18, are being accused of being principles to the crime. This means that they were present during the incident but were not directly involved.
According to police, Madison Brooks, 19, was leaving a bar in Tigerland around 1 a.m. when she entered the vehicle of the four suspects.
Washington and the unnamed juvenile are accused of raping her in the rear seats, while the other two suspects were in the front seat. The four suspects then dropped her off at a random location which led to her being hit by a vehicle around 3 a.m. on Burbank Drive near Pelican Lakes Parkway.
Deputies say Brooks' toxicology reports show her blood alcohol content (BAC) was .319g%. According to the University of Notre Dame Research, the effects of a BAC between .350g% and .399g% are listed as alcohol poisoning. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) was also found in her system.
San Francisco 49ers defensive end Charles Omenihu was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence following an alleged incident with his girlfriend on Monday, according to the San Jose (Calif.) Police Department.
According to an arrest report, the victim alleged that Omenihu pushed her to the ground during an argument. Officers said that they did not "observe any visible physical injuries," but she did complain of a pain to her arm. The victim declined medical attention at the scene, per the San Jose PD.
Omenihu, who posted bail and no longer is in custody, also was served with an emergency protective restraining order, per the arrest report.
"We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information," the 49ers said in a statement on Tuesday.
Omenihu, 25, was traded from the Houston Texans to the 49ers during the 2021 season. The former fifth-round pick out of the University of Texas started three games for the 49ers this past season and recorded 4.5 sacks, 20 tackles, 16 QB hits and three tackles for loss.

A woman is accusing Conor McGregor of kicking and punching her while aboard his yacht in Ibiza last year ... but the UFC superstar is adamant the incident never happened.
According to the Majorca Daily Bulletin in Spain, the woman claims the altercation went down after a night of clubbing to celebrate McGregor's birthday in July 2022.
The woman -- who reportedly grew up in the same Dublin neighborhood as Conor -- claims once the party made its way to McGregor's yacht, he started to insult her appearance before kicking her in the midsection & punching her ... even threatening to drown her.
According to the outlet, the woman told Irish police she "feared for her life" & was forced to flee the scene by jumping off the boat.
The 34-year-old's spokesperson, Karen Kessler, released a statement on the allegations ... saying, "Mr. McGregor is steadfast in his denial of all the accusations made by a guest on his boat."
The woman reportedly did not identify McGregor when making a statement to Spain's Civil Guard ... but filed a complaint with Irish police days later.
The alleged incident is currently under investigation.
