LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar will perform for the first time on stage together at the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The NFL, Pepsi and Roc Nation announced Thursday that the five music icons will perform on Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Lamar are Southern California natives.

“The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career,” Dr. Dre said in a statement. The seven-time Grammy winner added that their halftime performance will an “unforgettable cultural moment.”

The Super Bowl returns to the Los Angeles area since 1993. It’s the third year of collaboration between the NFL, Pepsi and Roc Nation.

Roc Nation and Emmy-nominated producer Jesse Collins will serve as co-producers of the halftime show. The game and halftime show will air live on NBC.

The five music artists have a combined 44 Grammys. Eminem has the most with 15.

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z said in a statement that their show will be “history in the making.”

Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Blige and Lamar join a list of celebrated musicians who have played during Super Bowl halftime shows, including Beyoncé, Madonna, Coldplay, Katy Perry, U2, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira and last year’s performer The Weeknd.

A Texas teen is accused of stabbing his twin sister to death while their parents slept.

Benjamin Elliott, 17, was performing CPR on his sister, Meghan, who was stabbed several times in the neck, when first responders rushed into their Harris County home early Wednesday morning, officials said.

Elliott had called 911 and told dispatchers he stabbed his sister, but she died before help arrived.

Elliott was charged with murder and arrested on $100,000 bond. Investigators haven’t determined a motive for the killing.

According to prosecutors, Elliott said he woke up about 3 a.m. and realized he was inside his sister’s bedroom and a knife was in her neck, KTRK reported. He told investigators he then realized he wasn’t dreaming, the news outlet reported.

Then he called 911 and told his parents, who were heard screaming in a phone call recording, KPRC reported.

Prosecutors said Elliott does not have a history of sleep disorders and hadn’t consumed any drugs or alcohol, KTRK reported.

Bob Dawson, a neighbor, told the Houston Chronicle he was in “total shock” and recalled watching the twins walk home from school.

“They were wonderful neighbors,” Dawson told KPRC. “Nice and quiet and absolutely no problems.”

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- The family of Mona Rodriguez, the 18-year-old woman shot by a school safety officer in Long Beach, is pleading for the hospital to keep their loved one on life support.

Relatives showed up for a vigil outside Long Beach Memorial Medical Center Wednesday night and were devastated after they were told that Rodriguez is brain dead and the hospital plans to disconnect her from life support.

"They're trying to take my sister away," said Oscar Rodriguez, Mona's brother. "At first they had told me that I would be able to make the decision & now they're taking that from me.

"And honestly, I don't feel that's right because if a government official is the one that shot my sister then the government should not be the one that's deciding whether they should pull the plug or not. It doesn't make sense to me."

Rodriguez's heartbroken mother is pleading for the hospital to keep her daughter on life support & is demanding justice.

Rodriguez, the mother of a 5-month-old son, was shot by a school safety officer near Millikan High School Monday afternoon in an incident captured on video by witnesses.

Long Beach police said the school safety officer saw an altercation in the street involving the 18-year-old & another teenage girl.

A bystander's cellphone video shows that officer firing his gun when a silver sedan, in which Rodriguez was a passenger, sped off. The footage is part of a police investigation.

Rodriguez's boyfriend, Rafeul Chowdhury & his brother said they were in the fleeing car. They said the officer never told them to stop, & fired 2 shots into the vehicle.

Rodriguez was shot in the head.

"I don't think my girlfriend deserved this. It was all for no reason," Chowdhury said.

Rodriguez's family members & their attorneys said they want justice.

"She did not deserve to get shot. She might have been doing something she wasn't supposed to, but she was unarmed," Rodriguez's cousin Alex Cervantes said at the vigil. "She was already fleeing."

The family hopes criminal charges are brought against the officer.

"This officer should be in jail right now. The mother is suffering," Carrillo said. "Every family member & friend is suffering."

During a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, Atlanta rapper 21 Savage was asked why a lot of artists won't work with NBA YoungBoy.

His explanation was simple. Because of YoungBoy's affiliation with Quando Rondo, who is currently beefing with Lil Durk, certain artists have chosen to stay loyal to Durk, even if that means not hanging out with or making music with YoungBoy.

Kyrie Irving & Andrew Wiggins will each lose more than $15 MILLION if they refuse to get the jab ... because the NBA just announced it will NOT pay players who miss games for not having the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Association has not made it mandatory for players to be vaxxed, but local mandates in San Francisco & New York City will keep guys like Wiggins and Irving -- who have reportedly elected against the vaccine -- from being able to play home games for the Warriors & Nets, respectively.

Considering NBA teams play half of their games at home, this would keep the 2 stars from playing in at least 41 games this season ... which will put a serious hurt on their bank accounts.

Wiggins -- who is in a 5-year, $147,710,050 deal -- will reportedly pass up on $15.8 million this season ... while Irving -- 4-year, $136,490,600 contract -- will forfeit $17.5 million.

Kyrie has spoken out about his choice ... saying it's a personal decision and he hopes to be with his team as much as possible.

Wiggins is reportedly hellbent on not getting the vaccine ... despite the Warriors setting up meetings with health officials to try to ease any fears.

The league says players cannot be forced to get vaxxed unless the players' union agrees to it & it sounds like that ain't happening any time soon.

Of course, it's absolutely their decision to not get the vaccine ... but that's a serious amount of money that could have the guys reconsidering their stance.

Kodak Black's violated the terms of his supervised release in his federal gun case by failing a drug test ... and now we've learned the rapper was ordered to get treatment.

You may recall ... the rapper was sentenced to 46 months behind bars in the gun case in late 2019, but he was freed by Trump when his sentence was commuted back in January as part of the ex-President's flurry of pardons and commutations.

We're told Kodak's failed drug test resulted in a court hearing this week for violating the terms of his supervised release.

According to court records ... the judge ordered Kodak to complete a 90-day stint in a residential program due to the violation. Our sources say Kodak is already in the treatment program.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The I-Team has learned that a young father is accused of murdering his 4-month-old son and the baby’s mother faces charges of allowing the alleged abuse to continue.

Mykeal Rangel, 20, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of his son, Levi Rangel. Mykeal Rangel also faces charges of child abuse and neglect and allowing child abuse or neglect with substantial bodily harm.

According to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, Levi Rangel died on Sept. 16. His cause of death is listed as abusive head trauma. The coroner ruled his manner of death as homicide.

Levi’s mother, Brooke Lehman, faces two counts of allowing child abuse or neglect with substantial bodily harm, court documents said. Both parents appeared in court Monday.

“[Mykeal Rangel] admitted to squeezing the child,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Michelle Jobe said in court. “He admitted to becoming severely frustrated with the child. He admitted to shaking the child on multiple occasions. So the proof is evident and the presumption is great that this defendant committed murder.”

Levi Rangel also had several rib fractures, Jobe said.

A child welfare agency form dated Friday said Levi Rangel was brought to a fire station in an unresponsive state.

“The child was transported to a local hospital where medical assessment deemed him to be in critical condition,” the report said. “A concern was noted that there was no explanation as to the child’s condition. At the time of the report, arrangements were in progress to transport the child to another hospital for specialized treatment.”

The 4-month-old had suffered what the agency refers to as a near-fatal incident just a week before. The Clark County Department of Family Services has no prior history with the child or family.

In court Monday, prosecutors said Lehman had plenty of warning to stop the alleged abuse, citing her knowledge in text messages. “She wouldn’t intervene,” Jobe said. “She wouldn’t do anything on behalf of this child, which is part of the reason that this child is dead.”

Attorneys for Rangel and Lehman said they both have lived in Las Vegas their entire lives and that there is not enough evidence to presume guilt.

Rangel was being held Tuesday without bail. A judge set Lehman’s bail at $25,000. She was released on bond. Both are due in court again in October.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former UFC champion Jon Jones dented a patrol vehicle with his head during his arrest last week on a domestic battery charge for allegedly grabbing his fiancée by her hair, according to an arrest report made public Tuesday.

Jones’ fiancée left their room at Caesars Palace with the couple’s three children and police said she had apparent blood on her clothing when officers interviewed her about the pre-dawn altercation last Friday.

Jones, 34, was walking outside the Las Vegas Strip hotel when he was stopped by officers and “became irate and smashed his head onto the front hood” of the patrol SUV, leaving a medium dent and chipped paint, the report said.

Jail and court records showed Jonathan Dwight Jones was later freed from the Clark County jail on $8,000 bail pending an Oct. 26 court date for prosecutors to file criminal charges.

The domestic battery charge is a misdemeanor. The vehicle charge is a felony, with damage reported at more than $5,000.

Jones lives in Albuquerque, but attended a UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Las Vegas the night before his arrest. His 2013 fight with Alexander Gustafsson was honored.

Jones (26-1, 1 no-contest) won the UFC light heavyweight championship three times from 2011 to 2020, and is widely considered one of the greatest fighters in MMA history.

His career also has been defined by misbehavior outside the cage including vehicle crashes, driving under the influence arrests and UFC discipline for testing positive for banned substances.
