MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Rapper Nicki Minaj’s mother, Carol Maraj, has filed a $150 million lawsuit against the man who is accused of killing Minaj’s father in a hit-and-run crash last month, an attorney for Maraj said.

Charles Polevich, 70, is accused of striking Robert Maraj, 64, on Long Island on Feb. 12 and then driving off without calling 911. Maraj died at a hospital the next day.

Polevich was arrested on Feb. 17 on charges of leaving the scene of an incident and tampering with physical evidence. He pleaded not guilty and was freed on bail and ordered not to leave New York state.

Newsday reports that Carol Maraj’s lawsuit, filed in Nassau County state Supreme Court earlier this month, claims that Polevich was negligent, reckless and careless when he hit Maraj with his car and allegedly left him at the scene.

“He was not only irresponsible and negligent, but more concerned about running away and hiding than seeking help,” Benjamin Crump, one of the attorneys representing Carol Maraj, said in an Instagram post Friday.

A telephone message was left Sunday with Polevich’s attorney, listed in online court records as Marc Gann of Mineola.

Nicki Minaj, who was born Onika Tanya Maraj, has not made any public statement on her father’s death.

Carol Maraj, the victim’s estranged wife, told Newsday last month that she was “very, very, very happy” about Polevich’s arrest and said all of Maraj’s children “are pleased” that the alleged culprit was caught.

Bobby Brown's son, Bobby Jr., died after ingesting a deadly cocktail of drugs ... this according to his autopsy report.

The L.A. County Medical Examiner's Office just released its findings -- and according to the document, obtained by TMZ, the autopsy & toxicology found a deadly combo of alcohol, cocaine & fentanyl.

The report also says a witness told police Bobby Jr. had downed tequila & snorted half a Percocet & the cocaine. The manner of death is listed as accidental.

We broke the story ... Bobby Jr. was found dead at just 28 years old in his L.A. area home in November. Cops reported there was no foul play involved, & our law enforcement sources told us no drugs were found at the scene either.

Bobby's family said he was not feeling well in the days leading up to his death & was experiencing flu-like symptoms. However, a family source told us he did not have COVID-19.

The death was another horrific tragedy in the family, as Bobby Jr. was the half-brother of Bobbi Kristina -- Bobby Brown's daughter with Whitney Houston who passed away in July 2015 after several months on life support. Bobbi Kristina had been in a coma following a bathtub drowning. She also had toxic levels of cocaine & alcohol in her system.

Members of Evander Holyfield's team say Mike Tyson has rejected a $25 million guarantee to fight Holyfield on May 29 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The two sides had been in talks for months about getting Tyson & Holyfield in the ring, after Tyson fought an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. last year that was considered a success.

Holyfield seemed to be the next opponent for Tyson in a potential exhibition -- Tyson had indicated he would be interested in doing another fight after the Jones bout -- but nothing was ever finalized.

"We thought this was a done deal but it quickly fell apart when Tyson's people declined all offers," Holyfield's manager, Kris Lawrence, said in a statement Monday. "We were negotiating in good faith all along and it appears we just ended up wasting our time."

Tyson was clearly perturbed by negotiations over the weekend, when he posted on his Instagram account that he would never work with Triller again. Triller had been the broadcaster of the Tyson-Jones fight & recently won a purse bid to put on Teofimo Lopez's title defense.

Holyfield, 58, said this past December that a third fight against Tyson "must happen for both our legacies."

Tyson-Holyfield was one of boxing's best rivalries of the 1990s. In November 1996, Holyfield, who was in the midst of a comeback from retirement, shocked a prime Tyson by scoring an 11th-round TKO victory -- a significant upset.

Holyfield also won the June 1997 rematch by fourth-round disqualification in controversial fashion as Tyson twice bit his ear (the first time ripping a piece off) in retaliation for what he perceived to be intentional head-butts.

Dez Bryant says he's still devastated by the death of ex-NFL star Vincent Jackson -- & wants to do everything in his power to save other NFL players from suffering the same fate.

The 32-year-old wide receiver tells TMZ Sports he has a plan to become a mentor/life coach for struggling athletes ... with a focus on tending to their mental health.

"Depression & anxiety, all that s**t is real, man," Bryant told TMZ during a recent outing in L.A.

"Look at Vincent Jackson & God rest his soul. Look at some of our brothers we've lost. These young brothers [are] in their early 30s, 40s ... it don't make sense."

Jackson -- a 3-time Pro Bowl WR who played 12 seasons in the NFL -- died alone last month in a hotel room at the Homewood Suites in Brandon, FL.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said Jackson likely died from issues connected to "chronic alcoholism."

Bryant believes he's been blessed with a gift for identifying players struggling with mental illness & addiction & wants to serve in a mentor role in order to get them the help & resources they need.

HOUSTON (ESPN) - Three more civil lawsuits alleging inappropriate conduct and sexual assault were filed against Deshaun Watson on Monday, including one that alleges the Houston Texans quarterback committed sexual assault this month.

The attorney representing the women, Tony Buzbee, has filed 10 lawsuits against Watson since last week.

One lawsuit filed Monday alleges that Watson assaulted a massage therapist in March 2021 by "touching her with his penis & exposing himself."

Another of Monday's lawsuits is centered around two massage sessions, one in June 2020 & one in August 2020, where the woman alleges Watson harassed her by "grabbing Plaintiff's buttocks & vagina, touching her with his penis & trying to force her to perform oral sex on him." This lawsuit alleges that the first massage was booked through a spa & the second through Instagram, where the woman says she "did not realize that Watson was a returning client."

The third lawsuit centers around an incident that allegedly took place in January 2021 & accuses Watson of exposing himself to a massage therapist, "touching her with his penis & making sexually suggestive comments."

Buzbee said in an Instagram post Saturday that he will submit affidavits and evidence from several women to the Houston Police Department & the Houston district attorney on Monday morning. He also said he will request that a grand jury consider the evidence & determine whether charges should be brought against Watson by the state of Texas.

Buzbee also said Friday he has been hired to represent 12 women and has been contacted by "more than 10 additional women" who have come forward with reports about similar conduct from Watson.

Last week, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said "the matter is under review" of the league's personal conduct policy, & the Texans said in a statement that they would stay in close contact with the NFL during its investigation.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — The white headmaster of a New York Catholic school forced an 11-year-old Black student to kneel while apologizing to a teacher & later explained that the punishment was an “African way,” the boy’s mother said.

Headmaster John Holian of St. Martin de Porres Marianist school on Long Island was placed on temporary leave after details of the Feb. 25 incident came to light.

The student’s mother, Trisha Paul, said that her son, Trayson, finished his reading early that day & took out another assignment.

Paul said the boy’s English teacher reprimanded Trayson for working on the wrong assignment, ripped up the paper & marched him to Holian’s office, where the headmaster told the sixth-grader to get on his knees & apologize to the teacher.

Paul said she called the school on March 1 and asked Holian if forcing students to kneel was standard disciplinary practice.

Holian said it was not but added that he’d learned the approach from a Nigerian father who said it was an “African way” of apologizing.

“Once he started mentioning this African family, that’s when it just clicked,” said Paul, who is Haitian American. “Like, this is not normal procedure. I felt there was no relevance at all. Is he generalizing that everyone who is Black is African? That’s when I realized something is not right with this situation.”

School officials sent an email to parents saying Holian had been placed on temporary pending an investigation.

Paul said her normally outgoing son has been reserved since the incident.

“My son was humiliated, hurt, embarrassed, sad & confused,” she said. “He reads about things happening because of your skin color. To experience it. ... he’s just trying to process it in his 11-year-old brain.”

VAIL, Colo. (AP) — A minor league baseball player is facing drug charges after police in Colorado found 21 pounds of methamphetamine & 1.2 pounds of oxycodone pills in his Chicago Cubs duffel bag.

The Vail Daily reports Jesus Camargo-Corrales, 25, of Tempe, Arizona, appeared in Eagle County Court on Thursday on charges including unlawful distribution of methamphetamine & oxycodone, both class 1 drug felonies, as well as charges of unlawful possession of each drug, both class 4 drug felonies.

“We are aware of the arrest of one our Minor League players,” said Julian Green, senior vice president of communications at Chicago Cubs. “We are investigating this matter & cannot provide additional comment until we have further details.”

He was ordered held on $75,000 bond.

The Eagle County jail confirmed he was still in custody as of Saturday. It’s unclear if Camargo-Corrales has an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

Camargo-Corrales was stopped on Interstate 70 in a silver BMW Wednesday morning near the ritzy ski area of Vail, Colorado after an Eagle County sheriff’s deputy saw the car speeding & drifting lanes, according to the arrest affidavit.

Camargo-Corrales was driving with two other passengers, who were also interviewed but police said were not aware of the drugs. They said they were driving to Denver from Phoenix but gave different accounts of the trip.

Camargo-Corrales told police he was going to Denver to teach a kids baseball clinic & claimed there were no drugs because he said he followed the Chicago Cubs’ anti-doping policy.

But police said a K-9 named Zane alerted authorities to the car’s rear wheel well & the back seat & Camargo-Corrales gave permission to a police search of the vehicle.

Officers then found a white bag with cologne & $1,000 held by a rubber band. In the trunk, a Chicago Cubs duffel bag that Camargo-Corrales said was his held baseball gloves & cleats, as well as several packages wrapped in white plastic marked “CO” and two packages wrapped in green plastic, according to the affidavit.

Police said Camargo-Corrales agreed to be interviewed & claimed a friend in Sinaloa, Mexico — where the notorious Sinaloa Cartel is based — offered him $500 to deliver the duffel bag to Denver. Camargo-Corrales, who is also from Sinaloa, said that he thought the bag had contained shoes or clothing, but also indicated he knew there were drugs inside.

He’s expected back in court on March 30.
