Jerry Springer, one of the most influential & controversial figures in TV history, has died.
Jerry hosted the smash hit syndicated talk show "The Jerry Springer Show" for 27 years & it was never a boring moment on the raucous & wild show -- which was known for its outrageous guests who usually got into crazy fights as the audience cheered, "Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!"
A family spokesperson says Jerry was battling a "brief illness." Our sources tell us it was pancreatic cancer that was diagnosed a few months ago, and this week he took a turn for the worse.
The spokesperson says he died Thursday morning, peacefully at his home in the Chicago area.
Before TV, he was a politician who became Cincinnati's mayor in 1977. He served 1 term.
Jerry's show was so popular in the late '90s, it even topped Oprah Winfrey's in several cities. 'Springer' finally went off the air in 2018.
He made 1 more run in TV, with his courtroom show, "Judge Jerry," which ran for 3 seasons.
We're told his cancer battle got much worse about a month ago & he finally had to stop working.
He's survived by his daughter Katie Springer & his older sister Evelyn.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Fugees rapper accused in multimillion-dollar political conspiracies spanning 2 presidencies was convicted Wednesday after a trial that included testimony ranging from actor Leonardo DiCaprio to former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Prakazrel “Pras” Michel was accused of funneling money from a now-fugitive Malaysian financer through straw donors to Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, then trying to squelch a Justice Department investigation & influence an extradition case on behalf of China under the Trump administration.
Michel first met Malaysian financer Low Taek Jho in 2006, when the businessman usually known as Jho Low was dropping huge sums of money. Low helped finance films, including “The Wolf of Wall Street.” DiCaprio testified Low had appeared to him as a legitimate businessman & had mentioned wanting to donate to Obama’s campaign.
Michel also testified in his own defense. He said Low wanted a picture with Obama in 2012 & was willing to pay millions of dollars to get it. Michel agreed to help & used some of the money he got to pay for friends to attend fundraising events. No one had ever told him that was illegal, he said.
Prosecutors said Michel was donating the money on Low’s behalf & later tried to lean on the straw donors with texts from burner phones to keep them from talking to investigators.
After the election of Donald Trump, prosecutors say Michel again took millions to halt an investigation into allegations Low masterminded a money laundering & bribery scheme that pilfered billions from the Malaysian state investment fund known as 1MDB.
Michel also got paid to try & persuade the U.S. to extradite back to China a government critic suspected of crimes there without registering as a foreign agent.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man is charged with murder & other offenses in the slaying & dismemberment of an Uber Eats driver who had brought food to the assailant’s house.
Oscar Solis, 30, allegedly “yanked” Randall Cooke, 59, into his home on April 19 & butchered him, according to Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco.
“This was a horrific crime,” Nocco said. “This was demonic. What he did was demonic.”
Solis faces charges of murder while engaged in a robbery, failure to register as a convicted felon & for a parole violation. Solis was released from an Indiana prison in January after serving 4 years for an assault & burglary conviction, Nocco said. He moved to the Florida home about 3 months ago.
Nocco said he was affiliated in Indiana with the violent MS-13 gang.
In Florida, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Solis worked security at a strip club, according to the affidavit.
Evidence collected in the case includes blood found in various places around the house and a key fob belonging to the victim that was found on Solis’ dresser, on top of his wallet. The affidavit also says the victim’s car was found abandoned a short distance away, and inside were a trash bag containing blood-soaked rags and towels, a Door Dash bag like one the victim carried and an employment time card with Solis’ name on it.
Investigators also obtained surveillance video from the house showing the victim making the food delivery and, later, two Hispanic men carrying heavy trash bags outside. The other man, who worked as a driver for Solis, has not been charged.
Pasco County is just north of Tampa, Florida, on the Gulf coast.
LAGRANGE, Ga. (11 Alive) — LaGrange Police said 13-year-old Jayden Gunsby turned himself in Monday night.
Jayden was wanted after Davaris Lindsey, 20, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on April 9. Lindsey died 2 days later. Gunsby is being charged as an adult.
LaGrange Police Lieutenant Mark Cavender said Gunsby did fire shots in the shooting. Lt. Cavender said Gunsby isn't the only suspect but is the only one who's been publicly named as of Monday night.
Lt. Cavender said Gunsby & Lindsey knew of one another but wouldn't elaborate on how or on a possible motive due to the investigation still being active.
"Some of the parties that we know that may be involved do have gang ties. So we're definitely looking at the gang aspect as well," explained Lt. Cavender.
There's been a lot of comments on social media after LaGrange Police released Gunsby's picture considering his age. Lt. Cavender confirmed the district attorney decided to charge Gunsby as an adult in the homicide.
"Murder is considered 1 of the 7 deadly sins in the state of Georgia. There are 7 types of felonies where a juvenile, as long as they're 13 years of age or older can be charged as an adult with 1 of these 7 deadly sins," said Lt. Cavender.
