Video After The Jump

IIyasah Shabazz sat down with VladTV to discuss her late father Malcolm X's life. Malcolm X played a tremendous role in the civil rights movement before being assassinated on [Febuary 21, 1965]. In the interview, Shabazz talks with us about the multiple attempts on her father's life, him being followed by the CIA, and how he sacrificed life for what he believed in.

We asked Shabazz about the three attempts on her father's that her mother mentioned in a previous interview, and she explained, "The attempts wasn't because of something going on within the nation... He wasn't being followed by the nation of Islam..it doesn't matter who pulled the trigger, what matters is who organized this assassination, unfortunately." Malcolm X's assassination happened in front of her mother, her siblings, and Shabazz. Although she was young, Shabazz explained that of her family seeing her father slain had an extreme effect on all of them, "My older sisters, Attalah, and Quibilah both remember very clearly, and very vividly seeing their father being killed... I also say the noise for anyone; a baby has to have some sort of effect.."

IIyasah continued the conversation by talking about her father's legacy, the nation of Islam's involvement in her father's death, and how much he cared for what he believed in. Check out the full clip below

Indie Artist Jacques Johnson Discusses His TV Show, Prince and Free Spirit

Brilliant in his right, Prince’s death is not just a tragic loss to his fans, but also a significant loss to Jacques Johnson (pronounced: Jhock Johnson), a young artist who is rocking the Atlanta suburbs with his exceptional hits. Jacques is renowned for his brilliance and boss attitude which separates him from other indie artists and recently, he expressed his devastation for the passing of the legendary Musician after having had a special parcel from his camp last year.

Jacques’ dad is a true Prince fan and Jacques grew up a fan too. This led his manager to send a copy of his freshman album, “New Jerusalem” to Prince’s camp. Months later, Jacques received a copy of the “Hit N Run” album by Prince with a sticker that read “Million $ Show.” Jacques’ dad immediately popped in the CD and the “Million $ Show” note turned into a reality with special lyrics such as “Turn the music up because I can’t hear Jacques in the back of my plane” ringing out loud and they all listened to this song over and over.

It might seem that Prince’s song is ended, but his melody lingers on, stated Jacques. I contrive to keep the “Million $ Show” CD close and treat it as a sign that Prince, the Legendary Musician gave me the thumbs up in his true fashion.”

Jacques has been making big moves independently with his provoking, original melodic single, “Waves”, opening for Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash Block Party, and inking his own television show, WHO IS JACQUES JOHNSON. He is passionate about reaching and inspiring his fans through his incredible singles which nourish the soul, fills the man's spirit, and keeps the body alive in a fascinating way. When Jacques released his independent freshman album, his incredible talent became so evident that everyone recognized him as a particular type of artist. Even, the press nicknamed him “any genre” because the album gave a little something for everyone. Now his sophomore album "Free Spirit" is even more interesting. Jacques Johnson has a cover where he has two hearts highlighted on his chest. He states that his sibling who died before he was born has a spirit that looks over him and he feels a connection.

Jacques Johnson’s TV show will feature his indie squad, who are interesting in their own way. We will get a taste of Rich Kids Hollywood meets Hip Hop. Not only Jacques Johnson but his team, Brialise, Zach, Nick, Bryan, Kia, Quincy and Kayla, along with various colorful promoters and consultants will all be household favorites. With Jacques Johnson’s sophomore indie album on the way, we can only imagine the uniqueness and real music that awaits us.

Troy Ave and his legal team have filed a lawsuit against Live Nation and Irving Plaza, citing lapses in security that allowed someone to bring a gun inside the New York City concert venue on May 25, resulting in the shooting death of Ronald "BSB Banga" McPhatter.

Three other individuals, including Troy, were also shot that night while backstage during a T.I. concert.

Troy is the only person that has been charged in connection with the incident after he was seen on surveillance footage firing a weapon.

His attorney's John Stella and Scott Leemon have argued that their client "did not bring a gun into this venue." They say he was attacked by an individual who fatally wounded McPhatter and shot Troy in the leg, before the rapper was able to wrestle the gun away.

The New York Daily News reports that the lawsuit was filed Monday, August 8, in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

12352301053?profile=original

"He is the victim here. He did not bring a gun into this place. And we are seeking redress for the negligence," said Leemon.

The civil suit states that "As a result of this incident, the plaintiff, a 30-year-old promising performer with his entire career ahead of him, has been left with disabling injuries which will forever affect his life, his career and his pursuits,"

12352300898?profile=original

The suit further states that unlike patrons who entered the venue through the front door and were "wanded and patted down," VIP guests were allowed to enter without being searched.

Given the history of "shooting incidents involving Tupac Shakur, Sean 'Puffy' Combs, Notorious B.I.G., and Jam Master Jay." Irving Plaza should have been better prepared in case there was violence, the lawsuit says.

The amount in damages Troy is seeking was not revealed. He is currently free after posting $500,000 bail on July 11.

He's charged with attempted murder, weapons possession and other charges stemming from the incident.

"I'm going through a lot. I just want to get my life back," Troy told reporters.

Compton artists DJ Quik and YG are at odds over the hit song "My Nigga."

The record, which was produced by DJ Mustard, appears on YG's 2014 debut album titled "My Krazy Life."

During a Twitter rant early Monday morning, August 8, Quik claimed that he engineered the song and contributed vocals, but has not been credited.

12352282699?profile=original

The rapper/super producer demanded that YG and his reps at Stampede Management make things right before his legal team takes over.

YG's CTE World boss, Jeezy, and the label's distributor Def Jam were also included in the tweets. that made it clear Quik wants his RIAA plaque for the certified platinum tune.

"@stampedemgmt, Y'all had me engineer and record 'My Nigga' for @YG and did not give me credit. My Lawyer has You His sights. You've fucked up," Quik wrote. "@YG be safe on the block I invented. @stampedemgmt @SnoopDogg aren't you all the same company? You don't FUCk with Dj Quik. This will be in the press in the morning assholes. @stampedemgmt @YG y'all not the truth #thestreetstalk. @YG @Jeezy shoot me my engineering credits for stemming and recording vocals on your platinum song 'My Hitta' or whatever u call it. and shoot my Platinum plaque to. @DefJamRecords there's some fugazi on the west with my plaque for 'My Hitta' My wall is missing an Award. #RIAA. Got yall talking before tha PM," he continued. "Holla @djquik whenever on the devil so-me medium but you gon' pay what You owe. Wake up and respond tomorrow in tha timeline. WE ARE ALL WAITING."

12352283452?profile=original

12352283691?profile=original

YG responded earlier today via Twitter by writing, "Fuck the police @djquik."
