Berry Gordy, who was included in the 2016 class but deferred, will also be inducted this year.
“With our 2017 roster of inductees, the Songwriters Hall of Fame moves definitively into recognizing music creators of the 21st century while continuing to honor the greats of earlier decades. The combination of contemporary sounds and timeless hits of the past is certain to make for an unforgettable evening,” said SHOF co-chairs Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff and President Linda Moran, in a statement. “The songwriters we honor cross genres, regional and even national boundaries - R & B, Rap, Pop and Rock & Roll from both coasts, the American heartland and Sweden. We are thrilled to once more have the opportunity to preside over an event that recognizes the convergence of song craft and musical performance at the very highest level.”
The induction ceremony will take place at the Songwriters Hall of Fame's 48th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner on Thursday, June 15th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

The nearly six-month search for the man believed to have murdered Javona Glover, the 23-year old niece of singer T-Pain is over.
The Tallahassee Democrat reports that Tavon Jackson was found dead in a wooded area, just a half mile from where he allegedly stabbed Glover to death at the Tallahassee Walgreens where she worked.
Police believe the 25-year old committed suicide.
Glover and Jackson were once a couple and had a daughter who is now two-years old. The relationship was reportedly rocky before they split up for good.
Following his niece's death, T-Pain, asked his Twitter followers to help track down her killer.
The police are still lookin for the coward ass nigga that just killed my niece at Walgreens in Tallahassee. If you got info pls help us out!" he wrote on the social networking site last August.
With Jackson dead Glover's mom, Jennifer Battles, told the Democrat that her family can now have some peace of mind
"I am happy and relieved to finally have closure," Battles said. "My family and I can begin the healing process in what has been an emotional roller coaster," Battles said in an email. "I no longer have to worry about my granddaughter's safety. I would like to thank the U.S. Marshals and the Tallahassee Police department. They worked tirelessly to bring justice to my family. I would also like to thank my family and friends for keeping me sane in the midst of it all."

Ecstatic to show the industry what it's missing is R&B/Pop artist Kyla. Her new single(s) "Tonight" The new ladies anthem in 2017. 
To follow will be "Bittersweet" which both are edgy and refreshing for all ages. "My music is fun with a twist...definitely gets you on your feet," says Kyla. "I want women to know you can be sexy without risking your integrity." As an artist Kyla's main goal is to uplift fans by producing music they'll relate to and find attractive. "I don't want to be just 'any' artist. I want to motivate and encourage my listeners." Kyla's very in-tune with who she is and was created to be. She is intelligent with unapologetic sex appeal. "I want women everywhere to know that you dont have to be one or the other. There's always two sides to every story." Kyla is a native of Miami, Fl and has been singing since early childhood. Before she began singing and writing songs, Kyla wrote poems. "I wrote my first poem in 6th grade called 'What's Wrong with the Color.' My mom thought I copied my poem out of a book," says Kyla. A few years later, at age 13 a producer transformed her poem into a song which she recorded. This triggered Kyla's passion for music so she wrote her first song "Get Ready" and started a girl group with her bestfriends named Y2K. In 2005, Kyla was featured as a background singer for a popular boy group known as Pretty Ricky on their hit song "Call Me." She received training while attending the legendary New World School of the Arts which helped mold and perfect her craft. During schooling she studied music theory, piano, and classical music. She also had frequent vocal lessons and learned how to read music which has helped tremendously during her professional career. "I feel well-rounded and very comfortable in the studio because of my previous training," Kyla said. Management believes that her creative edge adds flare to her style. She writes her own music, includes opera ballots in her songs and is constantly looking for new ways to enhance her music and engage her listeners.

Jay Z continues to diversify his business portfolio.
The 47-year old rap superstar, born Shawn Carter, and Roc Nation President Jay Brown are preparing to start a venture-capital firm per Axios.
They will partner with Sherpa Capitol to launch the firm and are currently searching for a third investment partner
Axiom reports that Carter and Brown's company will focus on "seed-stage tech opportunities." The fund size has not yet been determined.
Over the last several years the pair have invested in JetSmarter, Uber's Series B, cosmetics company Julep and the luggage company AWAY, according to Business Insider.
Jay Z also launched the music streaming service TIDAL in 2015.

Future is all set to release his second album of 2017. The Atlanta rapper unveiled the cover for "HNDRXX" Tuesday night, February 21. It will arrive on February 26, a little over a week after he released a self-titled album.

An argument between Sean Kingston and the three members of Migos turned violent on Tuesday, February 21.
TMZ reports that the incident went down at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. According to the website, things went left during a heated discussion regarding Soulja Boy, who publicly dissed Migos member Quavo recently.
A fight ensued and Kingston was allegedly beaten, kicked and had his head stomped on. The "Beautiful Girls" hit maker was reportedly badly injured.
The brawl ended when a member of Kingston's camped pulled out a gun and fired a shot. Nobody was hit, but the shooter was apprehended by security and later turned over to the Las Vegas Police Department.
Neither Migos or Kingston were on the scene by the time police arrived. However, cops did speak with Kingston a short time later. He didn't point the finger at anyone, but was said to be "semi-cooperative."
Authorities now want to speak with Takeoff, Offset and Quavo. No arrest warrant has been issued for the "Bad and Boujee" rappers and they are not "wanted" by police.

If you haven't heard of the hip hop duo Insane Clown Posse or the movement of "Juggalos" behind them by now, you have to have been living in a cave. ICP was founded in Detroit in 1989. At one point major focus was on them after being involved in a musical and personal dispute with Shady/Aftermath recording artist, Eminem. But their legacy begins and was built long before this.
They came out independently with a mix of horrorcore and hiphop sound. And the gimmick added,...faces painted like clowns. This strange look and original sound built a humongous cult like following long before their names were known through out mainstream music. And the fans were loyal. Always supporting by purchasing everything from the albums and show tickets, to clothing merchandise and even car decals. In the beginning them being independent was almost, frowned upon...I mean who does music with no wants of major backing, right? WRONG. Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J were geniuses light years ahead of their time. And today, they are the 2 of the main faces on the frontline of hip hop independence. And the following of support they have gathered has them and their artists eating better then most of these "mainstream rappers."
The following created by the Insane Clown Posse (and several others of this genre who were all close associates of ICP) developed a name, "Juggalos", with the female counter-parts known as "Juggalettes." You could usually see them a mile away. All draped in clothing that represented ICP and other artists of those circles. Jewelry and tattoos as well. Becoming the most famous mark of this crowd and circle of artists signed to ICP's label "Pyschopathic Records", is the Hatchet man. Sure you seen it, the character in mid-run with a huge hatchet in hand.
The love for the music, recognizable symbols,deep loyalty, a strong sense of family for one another and not standing for any bullshit...has some how labeled this music groups fanbase as a gang according to papers released by the FBI. The fans and musicians as well did not take kindly to this. A march has been organized and they will be marching into Washington DC to demand that their music loving asses are respectably removed from such a disrespectful listing.
But the lash back doesn't stop there. J and 2 Dope brought their Coalition of Clowns together to deliver a sick Psycopathic Psypher song and video "If We Were A Gang." And everybody took the time to speak their mind and address all issues while explaining if they weren't about love..it would be a real problem...so let them make music and money in peace.
I have to say everyone brought their A-Game. ABK, Lyte, Shaggy 2 Dope, Big HooDoo, Blahzay Roze and even DJ Clay brought some dope content to this track. I have to give it up to Blahzay Roze, I was curious if she would be able to hold her own with such well toned veteran Emcees. She did an awesome job of keeping up and showing that she can go with the best in a male dominated industry. No matter who she is on the track with.
Ending the Pyspher, and having the most to say (but it shouldn't have been any other way) was Violent J. He had to have delivered 46 bars or better, but he said somethings that mattered. From addressing the situation the song is based on, to addressing issues with in the Juggalo family. But if you know just a quarter of what all Juggalo's are facing at this time, then you can feel the depth and reality of his verse. The psypher all the way around...was excellently formatted, filmed and presented.
