We'd like to send our deepest condolences out to the family and friends of Greg Marius, who passed away Saturday, April 22, at the age of 59, following a battle with cancer.
Marius was a well known figure throughout the basketball world for establishing Rucker Park’s Entertainer’s Basketball Classic in Harlem, New York.
From 1982 on, many entertainers and professional ball players such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Diddy, Jay Z, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Stephon Marbury, Brandon Jennings, David Stern, former president Bill Clinton, Tracy McGrady, Pearl James, Skip To My Lou, Fat Joe, Fabolous, Isaiah Thomas and many more came to the EBC.
Current NBA commissioner Adam Silver personally invited Marius to the last two All-Star games.
Marius was laid to rest on Thursday, April 27.
Thousands came out to pay their final respects, including Kurtis Blow, DJ Red Alert, Michael Bivins and former state Assemblyman Keith Wright.
