(CNN) Jeremiah "Jerry" Harris, one of the students featured in Netflix's breakout docuseries "Cheer," has been arrested on a production of child pornography charge, according to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Fitzpatrick.
Harris is scheduled to appear in federal court in Chicago this afternoon, Fitzpatrick told CNN.
A representative for Harris did not immediately return CNN's request for comment via email.
Harris, 21, is accused of "enticing an underage boy to produce sexually explicit videos and photos of himself," according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago.
The minor was 13 at the time, the complaint said.
Production of child pornography is punishable by a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years, a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office stated.
Harris was interviewed by law enforcement this week on these accusations, according to the criminal complaint.
Earlier this week, Harris was accused of child sexual exploitation and abuse in lawsuit filed by an attorney representing two alleged victims.
A spokesperson for Harris told CNN at the time, "We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager. We are confident that when the investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed."
"Cheer" recently won two Emmy Awards and is nominated for outstanding unstructured reality program, which will be announced during the last night of the virtual Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday.

AGUANGA, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are continuing their search for the suspect responsible for a shooting at an illegal marijuana grow in Riverside County, which has been described as an "organized crime type of operation."
Seven people were fatally shot in the unincorporated area of Aguanga early Monday morning. Six of the victims were found inside the residence on the 45000 block of Highway 371. Another woman with gunshot wounds was taken to a hospital, where she died.
Investigators said evidence collected there indicated the residence was being used to "to manufacture and harvest an illicit marijuana operation."
Sheriff Chad Bianco said it wasn't "small operation" and he has requested assistance from federal authorities in the case, adding that this is not the first homicide this year related to illegal marijuana.
More than 1,000 pounds of marijuana, worth upwards of $5 million, and several hundred marijuana plants were found, authorities said in a press release.
The names of those fatally shot were not immediately released.
The investigation is ongoing.

Kanye West defended Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, and R. Kelly in a Twitter tirade that complained Black celebrities receive unfair treatment from "white media."
Cosby was convicted on three counts of aggravated indecent assault in 2018, with more than 60 women accusing him of predatory behavior, while Kelly is facing 18 charges related to alleged sex crimes, including child pornography and kidnapping.
Kelly's alleged predatory behavior with young women was detailed in the series Surviving R. Kelly, while two men, James Safechuck and Wade Robson, alleged that Jackson, who died of a drug-related cardiac arrest in 2009, abused them as children in the documentary Leaving Neverland.
Citing the disgraced trio as victims of the media, Kanye tweeted, before deleting, on Wednesday: "Michael Jackson Bill Cosby aaaaand wait for it ... R Kelly had documentaries made or were taken down by white media ... there has never been a black media company that would take down a white celebrity.
"People say it's enough and I got my point across ... the point isn't across until we cross the point.
"We used to diss Michael Jackson the media made us call him crazy ... then they killed him."
In his Twitter tirade, the star also claimed people "sat back and watched" when Nick Cannon was "cancelled" over antisemitic remarks that resulted in his firing by ViacomCBS chiefs. Nick has subsequently apologized for his remarks.
At the start of his rant, Kanye claimed he was speaking out as his wealth meant he could not be silenced.
"I am the only person who can speak on this because I made multi billions outside of music no musicians make billions inside of music...I'm going to change this," he wrote. "I know a lot of musicians are not allowed to say anything but I can't be muted or cancelled so I'm going to say everything as always."
The Gold Digger hitmaker's posts follow tweets on Monday calling himself, "the new Moses". He has been previously treated for bipolar disorder - with his wife, Kim Kardashian, asking for understanding due to the condition when he launched a bizarre presidential run in July.

Kanye West isn't easing up off his push for Black ownership in enterprise, or his gripes about not getting a chance to own the masters to his songs.
Ye was going off again early Wednesday about African-Americans, by and large, not getting their fair share of the pie -- instead, he says they're mostly used by companies run by whites. He again points to the NBA and the music biz as examples.
In his new Twitter rant, he says, "We sat back and watched Nick Cannon get canceled and we go to play ball in a bubble with black lives matter on our backs ... brothers let’s stand together for real ... there is no NBA or music industry without black people ... fair contracts matter ... ownership matters."
Insisting he's made "multi billions," Kanye says he's one of the few who can openly speak on this issue without repercussion -- the implication being he's rich enough to where he doesn't have to worry about a record label trying to muzzle him.
Speaking of that ... Ye brings the convo back to himself and his own fight for ownership of his master recordings, blasting Universal Music Group and alleging they won't even give him a chance to buy them outright -- because he feels they know he can probably afford them.
Kanye later posted a video of himself apparently urinating on his own Grammy statuette.
