Ahhh the summer. Filled with warm weather, weekend events and the scent of love is fresh in the air. What better time for the up and coming RnB Queen Mercedez to release her new single "Young Love." Uptempo and full of excitement, Mercedez croons over the beat with an amazing energy and angelic vocals. Its nice to hear a natural tone and not over stacked, under toned, digital recording coming from a singer. Mercedez natural skill blossoms across your chakras up her first note and holds you in until the end. She brings along the emcee known as EMDUBAI to assist her with a little hip hop flow just to give the single a little something for everybody. Expect more from Mercedez as her label reps say A LOT is in the works...and after listening to "Young Love," you will hope so as much as we do. Currently trending on the popular Spotify app, "Young Love" is a single you will want to check out today and immediately add to your playlist.
Independent wicked-core artist Loc Saint is known for bringing straight heat (insert fire emojis). Already known for lyrically holding his own, Loc likes to bring in heavy hitters from the genre and show that even on a track with some of the best, he holds his own. His latest single "Emotions" is just another bodied beat on his belt. Loc Saint and The Jokerr tear through the instrumental with an intricate chopper style flow. Perfectly timed and rhythmically worded, they quickly show that the best music lies in the underground...and when hit with a dash of that "wicked shit"...the underground is nothing to be played with. You can check the single out today via youtube....and find it for purchase or download on the "Phoenix Rising project from Loc Saint on your favorite app/site by going to https://song.link/LocSaintPhoenixRising. Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee, better known as Rae Sremmurd, stopped by The Breakfast Club to talk about their upcoming triple-disc album SR3MM. Taking inspiration from Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, both Jxmmi and Swae Lae are putting out solo projects. Jxmmi's is titled Jxmtro and Swae Lae's is titled Swaecation. The third disc of the project will feature both of them. Known for their young, wild antics (the two have been compared to 90s duo Kriss Kross), the two talked about respecting women, Swae Lee's girlfriend drama, their crazy house parties, inspiration from Three 6 Mafia, and more.
Blunt in hand, Swae Lee explained giving French Montana his biggest hit to date, "Unforgettable," and why he would let such a banger go. "I'm just in the music cooking up process," Swae said. He's clearly not worried and has more hits in store."I'm working every day...I got a million of them, I make them every day. I stay in the studio."
Swae Lee's name has been in the news after his girlfriend jumped and robbed his alleged side chick. It was all caught on camera. "That was just a little brief period there," Swae explained. "That situation was crazy, I don't endorse no violence. The media, the blogs exaggerate a lot of shit." He's not letting the drama get to him. "Just know my life flow smooth," Swae calmly said.
The two live in a house together which has become notorious for their crazy house parties. The duo also recorded the majority of SR3MM there. "The house parties start at 12 o'clock every night. They not stopping till 5 in the morning," Jxmmi said. "We just chillin and smoking and we got 30 girls in the crib... maybe we in the studio. It's just some lit s**t every day." When asked what the craziest moment they've ever had happen at their crib, Swae Lee's answer was a bit shocking. "My (pet) monkey s**t in a girl's bra on time," Swae explained.
A criticism the group receives is that Swae Lee is the main draw and Jxmmi doesn't pull his own weight. Charlamagne asked Jxmmi what his thoughts on getting that negative feedback. "We been in this group for over 10 years, bro. I've been hearing the same thing for many years," he said. "At first it kind of affected me but once you get past that little part... I'm not to go on Twitter on some "I'm about to kill myself," hell nah." Slim Jxmmi then responded to the haters in a beautiful way: "At the end of the day, f**k you, sremm life, aye, srkt srkt, and then I'm gone."
Charlamage also brought up Three 6 Mafia and how Rae Sremmurd's club-ready, party tracks remind him of the Southern hip-hop legends. "We from Tupelo, they from Memphis. That's an hour away," Jxmmi said. "We used to bang Three 6 and Three 6 used to come on in the club a lot too where we was at."
When asked what they learned from Three 6 Mafia, Swae Lee put it best: "stay consistent."
