Video After The Jump

Up and coming rapper Yung Hott was and killed Saturday (May 15) while shooting his very first video in his hometown of Griffin, Georgia according to WSB-TV.

The rapper who's real name is Jerode Paige died from a gunshot to the head.

He was shooting the video for his first single "Any Competition" on a residential street with about 150 people in attendance when the incident occurred.

"I saw them," witness Virginia Berry said. "They just shot him like this; pump, pump, shoot, pump, shoot, pump."

Three others were injured during the shooting, including Berry's five year old granddaughter Taylor who had been playing with a toy car near the scene.

"She crawled from (the toy car) to the porch," said Virginia. "She says, 'Grandma, I've been hit.'"

The young girl was shot in the foot and is expected to be ok.

Yung Hott had been trying to turn his life around after a stint in prison according to his family.

"He got out [of prison] and he said he wasn't going to let anybody stop him from getting his career," his uncle Gary Paige said. "He wanted to give his grandmother a lot. He was really into his music and he wanted to show his grandmother he had the ability to be somebody."

He added that he believed Jerode was targeted, but he doesn't know why.

Four men, Bahir Howard, 22-years-old, 21-year-old Corderra Walker, 21-year-old Terry Fuller and 23-year-old Terrance Jones all face murder, aggravated battery, child cruelty and weapons charges.

Last week, in-demand songwriter Claude Kelly called comparisons between Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera “crap,” citing the latter powerhouse vocalist’s decade plus longevity in a business where career success is fleeting.

Now, multiplatinum artist and producer Akon, who signed Gaga to his Kon Live Distribution label in 2008, is giving his own view on the musical battle that's igniting debate on both sides of the fence.

Aw man, that’s not even any competition,” Akon tells VIBE. “You are actually giving Christina too much credit. She always had her cool little look and way about how she went about things. But soon as Gaga came out everything switched up. Christina stepped out of her own shell to become something different. And the crazy thing is Christina is really talented. She has unlimited range when it comes to singing. Her voice is out of here. I just think she just needs to believe in herself more. I think sometimes she gets insecure because of all of the success Gaga has had not realizing that she was already successful before Gaga came out.”

Akon hopes Aguilera’s upcoming album Bionic showcases more of her dynamic voice and less of the up-tempo, electro pop bad-girl anthems typified by her latest single “Not Myself Tonight.

Christina shouldn’t have anything to prove or anyone to compete with,” he continues. “I miss the old Christina Aguilera. I like the old one better than the new one. Honestly, Gaga and Christina could probably get together and do something that’s amazing. But that’s impossible if they are both trying to do the same exact thing musically.”

Akon is set to release his new album Stadium this summer

Fans can stop hitting Fabolous up on Twitter. It took a few more months than expected, but Fabo's Gangsta Grillz mixtape The Funeral Service: There Is No Competition 2 was uploaded to the Internet Thursday. The tape contains guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Red Cafe, Paul Cain and others, with a slew of jacked beats and some original material. So now that the unofficial tape is out, when is Loso's Way 2 coming?

"The new album — I'm looking to come with another summer release," he said. "Probably late July or early August. I'm gathering joints together — so any producer trying to make that Loso's Way 2, you can send them in. I got a couple of things in the stash. I always keep beats on the side even if they don't work at the time. I know a hot beat when I hear it. The 'Throw It In the Bag' [remix] I had for seven, eight months before I used it. I knew it was a hot joint. When I did the remix I started digging in the crates and pulled it up. I haven't went it to start [laying] vocals [on the album] yet, but we in the motion of it."

After one of his most successful years in 2009, Fab wants to grow in 2010.

"Just the next level in the career, the evolution of Fabulous," he said of the direction of the next Loso's Way. "Me, a kid coming from the housing projects in Brooklyn and having the ability to make music, from the mixtape level to graduating to the album level, now just being able to make good music. Keep stable who I am as an artist, as a person. Of course, the next level of my life. On the first Loso's Way, I touched on having a son and stuff like that. That was the next step for me in general, in life — evolving as a man. Now there are things I'm evolving in as an artist as well."
