MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A member of the jury that convicted Minnesota police officer Kim Potter of manslaughter in the killing of Daunte Wright says jurors felt she made an honest mistake when she drew her firearm instead of her stun gun, but that she was still responsible for his death.
The juror spoke with KARE-TV reporter Lou Raguse on the condition of anonymity due to what the station described as the “public animosity” surrounding the case. It published the story Wednesday.
The juror said no one felt Potter was a racist or meant to kill Wright, but that doesn’t mean she was above the law.
“I don’t want to speak for all the jurors, but I think we believed she was a good person & even believed she was a good cop,” the juror said. “No one felt she was intentional in this. It’s ludicrous that some people are assuming we thought she was a racist. That never came up or anything like that. We felt like she was a good person, we felt she made a mistake, and that a mistake does not absolve you from the fact she did commit a crime.
“Being a good person doesn’t mean you’re above the law. I don’t think anyone felt she wanted to kill anybody that day. ... This was just a tragedy all the way around.”
Potter shot & killed the 20-year-old Wright in April as he tried to drive away from a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, a Minneapolis suburb.

Quavo & his crew beat the crap out of a Sin City limo driver ... all because the driver forgot to pick up someone in their group -- this according to a new lawsuit.
The Migos rapper is being sued by the limo driver, who claims the alleged beatdown went down July 3 in Vegas.
According to the suit, obtained by TMZ, the driver claims he was hired to take the Migos & their group from a local club to the Virgin Hotel ... but he says things went south when the passengers started yelling at him about leaving behind a member of their party.
In the docs, the limo driver tried reasoning with his passengers but was told, "shut the f*** up" & then someone chucked a bottle at him.
The driver claims it escalated, with as many as 5 of the passengers attacking him unprovoked ... repeatedly punching & kicking him, leaving him riddled with injuries.
According to the suit, the driver claims hotel staff & security had a front-row seat to the alleged beatdown ... but instead of stepping in to stop the fight, they fled for safety inside the hotel.
The limo driver claims the attack left him suffering physical & mental pain & even disfigurement & he's going after Quavo, Migos Touring & the hotel for unspecified damages.

NEW YORK (AP) — The British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted Wednesday of luring teenage girls to be sexually abused by the American millionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
The verdict capped a monthlong trial featuring sordid accounts of the sexual exploitation of girls as young as 14, told by four women who described being abused as teens in the 1990s and early 2000s at Epstein’s palatial homes in Florida, New York and New Mexico.
Jurors deliberated for five full days before finding Maxwell guilty of five of six counts. With the maximum prison terms for each charge ranging from five to 40 years in prison, Maxwell faces the likelihood of years behind bars — an outcome long sought by women who spent years fighting in civil courts to hold her accountable for her role in recruiting and grooming Epstein’s teenage victims and sometimes joining in the sexual abuse.
As the verdict was read, Maxwell was largely stoic behind a black mask. Afterward, she could be seen pouring herself water as one of her attorneys patted her back. She stood with her hands folded as the jury filed out, and glanced at her siblings — faithfully in attendance each day of the trial — as she herself was led from the courtroom. She did not hug her lawyers on the way out, a marked change from previous days during which Maxwell and her team were often physically affectionate with one another.
One of her victims, Annie Farmer, said she was grateful the jury recognized Maxwell’s “pattern of predatory behavior.”
“She has caused hurt to many more women than the few of us who had the chance to testify in the courtroom,” she said in a prepared statement. “I hope that this verdict brings solace to all who need it and demonstrates that no one is above the law. Even those with great power and privilege will be held accountable when they sexually abuse and exploit the young.”
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams praised the victims who testified against Maxwell after experiencing what he called “one of the worst crimes imaginable.”
“I want to commend the bravery of the girls – now grown women – who stepped out of the shadows and into the courtroom. Their courage and willingness to face their abuser made this case, and today’s result, possible,” he said in a statement.

Video After The Jump
Momentum Entertainment CEO and Top 5 DOA emcee, Ransom, and Griselda Records artist Rome Streetz shook up the industry with the release of their 2021 collaborative album, "Coup De Grâce."
Check out the lyric video for one of the many fire songs off of it titled "Pray For the Weak."
Honing a decidedly fresh style and classic hip-hop magic in his voice, rapper $hadow is set to offer fantastic creations that lay bare his strong persona and energy.
As a maker of catchy hip-hop music, artist$hadow delves into the realities of his life and other intriguing things to curate his songs that hit at one instance. The talented musician follows no rules to dictate his authority on the genre and effortlessly comes up with new styles and sounds to solidify his reputation. By quickly redirecting things to the positive shade, the artist has tried his hands at experimentation, and it's beyond refreshing to hear the rapper trying something so off-center. Signing in 2021 on a good note, the artist has recently dropped two songs that are not-so-typical of his style but sound significantly impressive.
‘Please Baby’and ‘500 Benz’are the two soundtracks that chalk out his flexibility to play with tunes and the rapper never ends with repeating the same chord twice. His energy is infectious and the artist has completely flipped his style in the second record to pick up a more harmonious ambiance. The killer kick drums, the catchy lyrics, and the classic hip-hop beat orientation; everything keeps the song fresh and appealing. The artist confidently flaunts his uniqueness and shows that he is capable of more than just rapping by injecting effective expression in between.
$hadowconnects for his honesty and the clear mixing of his unique features with the melodic hooks keeps the listeners invested in his flawless offerings. Both the songs ‘Please Baby’and ‘500 Benz’bridge the gap between melodic rapping and gritty hip-hop. The rapper impresses with the engaging use of verses and his softer yet crisp hip-hop tempo hints towards his brilliancy in the genre. Follow him on Spotify for more details.
Ice Cube is angry at critics who are grousing he shortchanged actors who appeared in his iconic movie, "Friday."
Cube lashed out on Twitter, responding to an interview Faizon Love did, claiming he was only paid $2,500 to play Big Worm in "Friday." That led others to accuse Cube of "robbing his own people."
Well, Ice Cube blasted back, saying, "I didn't rob no space f***in body." He pointed out it was a super, low-budget flick -- it cost $2.3 mil to make -- and pointed out Faizon only worked 1 to 2 days on the movie during the 20-day shoot.
He went on to say, all of the actors were paid scale and they could have simply declined the offer to appear if they didn't like the salary.
Truth be told ... it's not unusual at all for actors to be paid scale for movies ... even movies with much fatter budgets than "Friday."
One more thing ... one of the Twitter critics brought up a rumor that Chris Tucker quit over money. Cube shot back ... he was ready to pay Tucker $10 mil to $12 mil for the sequel, but Chris turned him down for religious reasons -- he didn't want to cuss or smoke week on camera anymore.
A judge decided Wednesday that the suspect in a hit-and-run crash in Wilton Manors that killed 2 children & hospitalized 4 more will be held in jail without bond.
After his charges were read to him in bond court, Sean Charles Greer was seen on video briefly objecting to the order, scuffling with a deputy & knocking over a podium.
The 27-year-old is accused of running over six children. Andrea Fleming, 6, & Kylie Jones, 5, died at the scene. Draya Fleming, Laziyah Stokes, Johnathan Carter & Audre Fleming were transported to Broward Health Medical Center.
Greer faces 14 charges, including 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, tampering with evidence, 4 counts of driving without a license causing death and/or serious bodily injuries & driving with a suspended license.
Police said that on Monday, a 2009 Honda Accord Sedan, driven Greer, was traveling southbound on Northwest Ninth Avenue at the same time that a Broward County Transit bus was stopped to drop off a passenger.
As the bus pulled out to continue southbound, it began to merge into the right thru lane from the edge of the roadway. The Honda approached the bus from behind but the driver failed to allow the bus to merge & passed it, almost striking the front driver’s side as it cut in front of the bus.
The Honda then veered right & drove off the roadway & onto the sidewalk, striking the children. The vehicle then accelerated & fled the area.
A number of celebrities have reached out to the family of Valentina Orellana-Peralta, the 14-year-old who was shot & killed during the standoff at an L.A. Burlington Coat Factory, offering to pay their funeral expenses.
The family's lawyer, Ben Crump, tells TMZ celebs in the Hispanic community & beyond have offered to foot the bill for Valentina's funeral, & to a person they wanted their names to remain confidential. But he says the support the family has been receiving is overwhelming.
Crump says so far, neither the LAPD nor the City of Los Angeles has made a similar offer.
As we reported, LAPD cops rushed to the Burlington Coat Factory last week after getting a 911 call of a possible shooting inside the store. When police arrived they found a man swinging a bicycle chair with a lock attached as he swung at shoppers, striking 3 women & brutally bloodying one of them.
One of the cops fired 3 shots with AR-15, killing the suspect, but one of the bullets ricocheted off the floor & into the dressing room where Valentina & her mom were hiding. The bullet struck Valentina in the chest & she died in her mother's arms.
We reached out to the LAPD to find out if the Dept. or the City had plans to cover the funeral. So far, no word back.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Three jail inmates have filed a class-action lawsuit over delays in getting treatment to restore their mental competency.
The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reported Tuesday that the inmates — Juan Alvarez, Aubrey Archambeau and Joseph Baker — filed the lawsuit against the South Dakota Human Services Center in federal court last week.
They contend they’ve been ordered to go to the center to restore their mental competency earlier this year but they still haven’t been sent to the facility and remain in jail.
The state Department of Social Services didn’t respond to the newspaper’s request for comment on the lawsuit.
The center is the state’s public mental health hospital. It’s been suffering from chronic staffing shortages that have limited the number of patients it can accept. State lawmakers formed a committee this past year to review mental health services and consider changes to the system. They could introduce legislation on the issue during the next session.
“Regenerated,” which just dropped on all major platforms on Christmas Day 2021, will effectively serve asEnjetic’s debut full-length solo album. It will also be his first full length release where production chores were not handled by his mentor Charles Hamilton (a renowned Hip-Hop artist who recorded for Interscope & Republic Records), such as was the case in 2020’s “Timeless” release. With “Regenerated,” Enjetic explains that he is “showing I’m back – I had taken a hiatus from the game for a bit, but this album is basically my rebirth of myself and my music career.”
The title of the album was inspired by a spark – a burst of creative energy – that Enjetic again found himself consumed by, as well as the overall idea of starting fresh and “forging my own path.” Stylistically, while the album hits many notes, it can best be described as having a mainstream Hip-Hop sound with a heavy Pop, Reggae and R&B influence. Production and beat-writing were again created by Enjetic’s frequent collaborator Voice Watkins, with Enjetic writing the lyrics. The album’s songs were recorded quickly, in this case in only 2 sessions.
As far as the songs contained on “Regenerated,” the first single released from the album was “Loc U Up,” which officially dropped in stores on November 20th after a successful music video that was extensively featured on MTV, VH1, and BET Jams. The album’s second single was “Blocking,” which dropped on December 10th. Forthcoming singles include “Let Her Know,” “Uncle Sam,” and the title track “Regenerated,” with videos to follow shortly. For “Let Her Know,” Enjetic explains that the inspiration for that song once again came from his fiancée Althea. When their relationship had come to a crossroads and standstill, the couple was unsure if they could continue as things were. Enjetic finally came to the resolution that he was going to “let her know” that despite the difficulties, he was not going to leave her.
John Madden -- the NFL coaching and broadcasting legend who's also the namesake of the famed "Madden" video game franchise -- has died, the NFL announced.
He was 85 years old.
The league said he passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning.
"Nobody loved football more than Coach," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement Tuesday evening. "He was football. He was an incredible sounding board to me and so many others."
"There will never be another John Madden, and we will forever be indebted to him for all he did to make football and the NFL what it is today."
Madden is one of the most iconic figures in NFL history -- he dominated as a head coach of the Oakland Raiders, winning Super Bowl XI and finishing his career with a 103-32-7 record.
After his time as a head man on the sidelines ended, he went on to become one of the greatest color commentators ever -- famously teaming up with Pat Summerall to break down key NFL games for decades.
He was eventually inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 -- and his popular terms "Boom!" and "Turducken" are still used around NFL broadcast booths to this day.
"I am not aware of anyone who has made a more meaningful impact on the National Football League than John Madden," Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement Tuesday. "And I know of no one who loved the game more."
Madden, though, is perhaps most known for his association with the insanely popular "Madden" football video game.
Casual fans, NFL players, and even coaches around the league play it religiously ... and the franchise -- which comes out with a new iteration yearly -- is reportedly worth around $4 billion.
Madden also gained fame in his career for his role as a pitchman -- he hawked products like Miller Lite and Tinactin, and appeared in notable commercials regularly.
Madden is survived by his wife Virginia, and his two sons, Joseph and Michael.
Dr. Dre has settled his divorce case by striking a property settlement agreement with his ex-wife, and for Dre's part, we're told he's "delighted" Nicole Young is only getting a fraction of his estate.
Dre and Nicole just filed their property settlement agreement, in which Dre agreed to pay Young $100 million -- $50 mil now, and $50 mil a year from now. Dre's estimated net worth is $820 million.
As for why Nicole didn't get half ... there's a prenup which she contested.
In exchange, Dre gets to keep 7 of the properties they own, including a Malibu home, 2 homes in Calabasas, and 4 properties in the L.A. area, including the $100 million Brentwood estate.
In addition, Dre gets full rights to his master recordings, trademarks and interests in various partnerships and trusts. He also keeps all of their Apple stocks, which includes the proceeds from the sale of Beats by Dre.
They divide a fleet of vehicles -- he gets 6 and she gets 4.
She gets to keep jewelry, cash and bank accounts that she had maintained during the marriage.
Nicole must pay her own legal fees ... which amount to millions of dollars.
Sources connected to Dre say Nicole could have actually gotten a bigger piece of the pie had she settled a year ago. One of those sources said, "She could have even been on the field for the Super Bowl halftime show as a friendly ex-wife."
There are also some storage lockers filled with items from their various homes. Dre had put the items in storage, and according to the settlement she gets to keep all the stuff inside that was hers.
The settlement forecloses Young's ability to get spousal support ... something that was hotly contested during the divorce.
Dre and Young are already divorced, per his lawyer, Laura Wasser, whose M.O. it is to file to end a contentious marriage and leave money matters for later.
The man accused of slitting his victim’s throat, hanging him from his basement ceiling and eating his testicles in a grisly Christmas Eve murder will return to court early next year.
Mark Latunski allegedly confessed to the disturbing 2019 killing of 25-year-old hairstylist Kevin Bacon, who he met on the dating app Grindr.
Bacon was found hanging naked by his ankles from the ceiling in Latunski’s home in Bennington Township, Michigan, on December 28.
He allegedly cut off a part of Bacon’s genitals and ate, according to court documents, which is how his parents learned about the details of their son’s murder.
“Evil does exist and it touched us,” Bacon’s dad Karl Bacon told the Associated Press in a January 2020 interview.
“It’s gut-wrenching to hear the details and we’re beside ourselves.
It appears Bacon knew Latunski had a violent sexual fetish, according to court documents.
“What was released shows that Kevin had a dark side,” Karl told FOX Detroit in 2020. “He obviously got into something that he wasn’t prepared for.
“I’m going to remember him how everyone else remembers him, that he’s a good person who was passionate and cares for people.”
Latunksi has been in a Michigan jail for about two years while the pre-trial process unfolds and is scheduled to return to court on February 3.
A judge ruled that he is able to stand trial in October 2020.
Bacon met Latunski on Christmas Eve 2019 after the two allegedly connected on Grindr, a dating app for gay men. He was reported missing the following day.
