Nearly seven months after George Floyd was killed, rapper Lil Baby and a group of celebrities teamed up to give his daughter Gianna a special birthday party.

To celebrate her seventh birthday, the first without her father, the hitmaker surprised Gianna with a L.O.L. dolls-themed bash on Wednesday at Atlanta's Pink Hotel, which "The Bigger Picture" rapper, 26, documented on social media.

According to Forbes, the socially-distanced party had been planned since July when Gianna visited family friends and restaurant owners Ericka and William Platt of Atlanta's Restaurant Ten and Rosie's Café. The pair helped put the party together with the rapper and former NBA star Stephen Jackson, who was a close friend of Floyd's.

The lavish party was set up in several different rooms of the hotel and included elaborate decorations, a buffet of candy, and an area dedicated to manicures and pedicures. Many of the attendees were seen wearing face masks to stay safe amid the coronavirus pandemic, however, some guests opted not to keep them on.

"RIP George Floyd. Happy B Day Gianna from 'The Bigger Picture,'" the rapper, whose real name is Dominique Jones, captioned one of his Instagram Stories.

Several other notable names were seen at the event, Forbes reported, including Gianna's mother, Roxie Washington, Shaquille O'Neal, rapper Future and his children, as well as the children of Rayshard Brooks, a Black man from Atlanta who was fatally shot by police in June.

A Texas man allegedly stabbed his wife and their two children to death over the weekend, and laid in bed with the three dead bodies, authorities said.

Officers responded to Bryan Richardson’s home in Copperas Cove Saturday night on a welfare check, and found him covered in blood laying next to his dead wife, Kiera, and their two young children, WFTV reported.

Copperas Cove police officers asked Richardson what happened and he responded he didn’t know, according to a criminal complaint obtained by KWTX-TV.

Cops also found a blood-covered kitchen knife on a table, an empty six pack of beer and an empty bottle of prescribed antidepressants, the complaint says.

Officers even saw the family’s dog lying a pool of blood in the kitchen, according to the complaint.

A motive behind the attacks has not been revealed. Richardson has been charged with three counts of murder, and is being jailed on $2.25 million bond.

A budding Florida rapper’s career was cut short Saturday when he died in a freak accident during what police say was an attempted home robbery.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Taz UFO (born Jonathan Hernandez-Zuluaga) was trying to break into a home in Lehigh Acres and was killed in the process.

Authorities say a window the singer was climbing into fatally slammed down on him.

“It unexpectedly closed on top of him, pinning him and keeping him suspended in air,” said LCSO spokesman Lt. Russell Park on Monday. “When deputies arrived, they found him deceased.”

According to local TV station WBBH-TV, the 32-year-old was dangling by his neck.

The father of five’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses. By Wednesday, the crowd fundraiser had reached $348 of its $5,000 goal.

“He was destined to be GREAT, beyond great at that, I know his close friends will ensure his music lives on,” wrote his wife, Patricia Duarte. “All he wanted in life was to make it with his music so his kids didn’t ever have to worry.”

Duarte is also reportedly pushing for an investigation into the Spotify artist’s death.

On Monday, she announced on Facebook that services had been scheduled.

“If you are not personally messaged by me you are not welcomed,” the Florida woman wrote. “Respect Taz and his family.”

(CNN) A family of alleged drug dealers in Peru found themselves firmly on the naughty list this year as police officers dressed as Santa and an elf raided their home.

The festive operation, which took place on December 5 in Lima, resulted in four arrests, according to a statement from the Peruvian National Police released Wednesday.

Police recorded the raid in a video which shows the officers break down a door to a house before arresting a man in a blue t-shirt.

Officers also seized 1,187 small packets of coca paste, a waste product of cocaine; 166 small packets of marijuana; a .38 caliber pistol and five bullets, according to the statement.

Police have handed the four men arrested over to public prosecutors, the police spokesperson told CNN, and they could face three to seven years in prison.

The officers involved are from an undercover unit known as Grupo Terna, which has form for using disguises during operations.

In 2016 the unit conducted another raid dressed as Santa Claus and elves, and they have also been known to disguise themselves as homeless people.

"Agents from Grupo Terna disguise themselves in order to carry out their police operations without being discovered," said the spokesperson.

LONDON (AP) — A woman who believes London’s air pollution contributed to her 9-year-old daughter’s death has won a court battle for a new inquest.

Ella Kissi-Debrah, who died after an asthma attack is thought to be the first person in the world to have air pollution listed as a cause of death in a landmark coroner's ruling.

Three High Court judges said Thursday that “the discovery of new evidence makes it necessary in the interests of justice that a fresh inquest be held” into the death of Ella.

Ella lived 25 meters (yards) from one of London’s busiest roads. She died in February 2013 following three years of seizures and 27 hospital visits for asthma attacks.

"Ella died of asthma contributed to by exposure to excessive air pollution," Philip Barlow, the coroner for Ella's south London neighborhood, said on Wednesday. He said that during Ella's life particulate matter levels in her neighborhood were above WHO guidelines and nitrogen dioxide emissions exceeded legal limits.

Her mother, Rosamund Kissi-Debrah, said she looked forward “to finally getting the truth.”

She said that “if it is proved that pollution killed Ella then the government will be forced to sit up and take notice that this hidden but deadly killer is cutting short our children’s lives.”

Video After The Jump

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Black man who was sent to prison for life as a teenager took his first steps of freedom to the sound of ringing bells and cheering family members and supporters, hours after a pardons board commuted his sentence in a high-profile murder case.

Myon Burrell’s prosecution and harsh punishment raised questions about the integrity of the criminal justice system that put him away nearly two decades ago for the death of a young girl killed by a stray bullet. Earlier this year, The Associated Press and APM Reports uncovered new evidence and serious flaws in the police investigation, ultimately leading to the creation of an independent national legal panel to review the case.

Last week, the panel published its findings, saying there was a “failure to investigate that illustrates tunnel vision” and that evidence that could have helped exonerate Burrell was either ignored or minimized.

The panel said it saw no purpose served by keeping Burrell locked up, pointing to his age at the time of the crime and his good behavior behind bars.

Burrell’s request for a pardon was denied and he will have to spend the next two years under supervised release. But it was the first time in at least 22 years that Minnesota commuted a sentence in a murder case, according the the Department of Corrections.

The release was swift. Just hours after receiving the news, he walked out the front door of Stillwater prison into below-freezing temperatures. Dozens of bundled supporters, some holding signs and balloons, surrounded Burrell while cheering “Myon’s free! Myon’s free!”

After jumping into a waiting car, he was soon home. Friends and relatives filtered into the living room, greeting him with gifts and hugs.

“It’s just a blessing,” he said, while standing outside on the street searching the sky for the moon and stars, which he said he’s been longing to see.

Burrell has always maintained his innocence in the 2002 killing of 11-year-old Tyesha Edwards, struck in the heart while doing homework at the dining room table with her little sister. He told Minnesota’s Board of Pardons members Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison that his “heart goes out” to her family. The third board member, Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Skjerven Gildea, recused herself, citing prior involvement with the case.

A 2-year-old boy was abandoned outside a Goodwill in Southaven, Mississippi, with a plastic bag containing a change of clothes and a note, police said.

A person connected to the case was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee on Monday afternoon, according to the Southaven Police Department, which declined to provide additional details.

"At this time the investigation is still on going, no suspect information or charges are being released," the department said in a Facebook post.

The child was found outside the Goodwill drop-off just before 10 a.m. on Monday, police said. He was unable to give officers his name or the names of his parents or family members, the department said in its post.

But Antoinette Smith says she never had any intention of giving up her son, whose name is Sergio.

Speaking over the phone to Memphis activist Barbara Buress in a Facebook Live broadcast, she said she met up with a male acquaintance Sunday and went to Nashville. She said Sergio remained with the man’s sister in Memphis.

But she said that her acquaintance later revealed that it wasn’t his sister, but his girlfriend that the child was with.

“If I knew that I said I wouldn’t have left my baby like that. Ain’t no way I would have left my baby. That’s all I got with me,” said Smith.

Smith said the acquaintance then abandoned her at a Nashville store after she refused to work for him.

“He was like, ‘You better get out there and sell some a-s-s’ and all that type of stuff. I told him, ‘I’m not doing nothing,’” Smith said.

Surveillance video captured a man, woman and a red vehicle they were driving when the boy was abandoned. The man was seen dropping the child off before walking away, police said.

An employee at Goodwill told local station WREG that the man walked up to him and said that the child's mother could no longer care for him and then left, according to the outlet. A handwritten note on a paper towel read: "child abandoned... no phone number for mom."

WREG reports that Smith will be returning to the Memphis area after Buress arranged for her to be picked up in Nashville.

Sergio remains in CPS custody.

Video: Dbangz (@lildustmop) - Medusa

12353617893?profile=original 19-year-old, LA-based MC Dbangz has released a video for “Medusa” that carries the stone-blooded energy of the Greek Gorgon that it shares his name with. The visual is for the song that appears on his most recent EP, Been A Long Time. If you want a look at exotic furniture and scaly representations of sin, this is the video for you.

When people aren’t genuine, they’re considered to be fake, or slimy individuals — snakes, if you will. This concept is at the center of “Medusa,” with Dbangz contextualizing his place as one of the realest in a world full of people that offer fake support or wish to do him harm. He knows how to maneuver in the right way that will keep him and the people he loves safe as he continues his rapid ascent to stardom.

In the video for “Medusa,” Dbangz stars as a sharply-dressed snake charmer who toys with the reptiles just like he plays insincere people like fiddles. While rapping fiercely at the camera, snakes slither around his hands that extend from silk shirts. Along with its showcasing of phenomenal interior design, “Medusa” makes its case for being one of the year’s most visually striking videos.

“Medusa” is the latest release from the Been A Long Time EP that recognizes the fact that he’s been rapping for five years. This recent release has gained the likes of The Source, UPROXX, and more. In addition to a one of a kind performance with Kinda Neat, Dbangz is definitely an artist to watch. Listen to Been A Long Time and stay tuned for more from the rapper coming soon.

A pregnant woman and two men have been thrown from a moving vehicle after having their hands amputated by a Mexican drug cartel as punishment for alleged acts of robbery.

The grisly incident happened in the Central Mexican state of Guanajuato.

The victims, who remain in a critical condition, were rescued by witnesses near the town of Silao, Guanajuato. The Prosecutor General has opened an investigation into events. All three are believed to be between the age of 22 and 25.

Guanajuato finds itself at the centre of a brutal turf war between the Cartel Jalisco Nuevo Generación (CJNG) and the Santa Rosa de Lima/Sinaloa Cartel alliance. In the absence of effective law enforcement from Federal authorities, local groups often uphold their own interpretations of the law themselves, often with extreme violence.

The victims were accused by the CJNG of robbery. A note attached to one of the men read: “This happened to me for being a thief, and because I didn’t respect hard working people and continued to rob them. Anyone who does the same will suffer. Signed Elite Group.”. The Elite Group are a notoriously vicious enforcement arm of the CJNG.

Video footage posted on Twitter, late on Friday night, showed the woman, who has not been named, begging eyewitnesses for help. The victim’s hands, which were placed in a bag next to the victims, were recovered at the scene by paramedics.

Official statistics show that between January and August of 2020, Guanajuato was responsible for 13 per cent of murders nationwide. As hostilities escalated, September saw 3,438 murders, almost entirely between cartels vying for control of the region.

The state is the gateway between the cartel-dominated north of Mexico and Mexico City, a city of over 28 million people. Controlling the corridor between the capital and the cartel heartlands of Sonora, Chihuahua and Sinaloa assures cartels of the ability to transport drugs and supplies from their safe zones in the North to the rest of the country.

Keyontae Johnson is talking to his family and doctors, and he even FaceTimed his team on Tuesday in a sign of remarkable progress for the Florida star, according to a statement from his parents on Tuesday.

A day after the program said Johnson was "following simple commands" but remained in critical but stable condition, he appeared to take another step in his recovery.

"Keyontae is in stable condition today, breathing on his own and speaking with us and with his doctors here at UF Health. He even FaceTimed the team! We feel so much love and support from everyone, and we're beyond grateful for the care and attention that Keyontae has received throughout these past several days," Nika and Marrecus Johnson said in a statement.

During a matchup against rival Florida State on Saturday, Johnson was walking onto the court after a timeout when he collapsed and fell face-first onto the floor. Florida and Florida State players were clearly distraught and emotional following the incident.

Johnson received medical attention on the court before he was taken to a local hospital in Tallahassee, Tallahassee Memorial, and subsequently transported to UF Hospital in Gainesville two days later, according to the school. He had been listed in critical but stable condition prior to Tuesday's development.

Johnson, a first-round prospect in ESPN.com's latest NBA mock draft, had finished an alley-oop, ran down the court and celebrated with his teammates on the sideline prior to the incident. That day, his parents traveled from Virginia, where he's from, to be with him in Florida.

According to the Associated Press, Johnson and some of his teammates had tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the season. The virus can cause myocarditis, a heart condition, but the school and family have not revealed a diagnosis at this point.

School officials announced Tuesday that their Wednesday matchup against North Florida had been postponed.

Johnson is averaging 19.7 points per game this season.
