CLEVELAND (AP) — LeBron James is giving back to a champion who shaped his life.
The Cavaliers star is donating $2.5 million to support an exhibit honoring Muhammad Ali exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington.
"Muhammad Ali: A Force for Change" opened in September to honor the legacy of the boxing champ, social activist and world ambassador whose contributions transcended the sports world.
"Every professional athlete, regardless of race and gender, owes a huge debt of gratitude to Muhammad Ali," James said. "His legacy deserves to be studied and revered by every generation. I am honored to partner with the Smithsonian to celebrate one of the most influential figures in our nation's history who, along with Jackie Robinson and Jesse Owens, used the power of sports to advance our civil rights."
James' business partner, Maverick Carter, also is contributing to the donation.
"I am overwhelmed by the incredible generosity LeBron James has shown," Ali's wife, Lonnie, said. "This exhibit will enable children visiting the Smithsonian to learn more about Muhammad's work outside of the ring, particularly his humanitarian work and stance on social justice for all people."
The exhibit includes artifacts such as Ali's headgear and the training robe worn at Dundee's Fifth Street Gym. It celebrates the late champion's achievements in community activism, resistance, politics, spirituality and culture.

2016 XXL Freshman rapper Lil Yachty has raised quite a few eyebrows recently. In August he told Billboard that he "honestly couldn't name five songs" by hip-hop legends The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.
Last week the popular Georgia artist told Pitchfork that Biggie was "overrated."
Veteran New York rapper R.A. the Rugged Man was a recent guest on VladTV, and lit into Lil Boat for not knowing the history of the game.
"Lil Yachty should shut the fuck up and get out of music," Rugged said. "Get the fuck out of music, you bitch. You don't know music. Fuck you, how 'bout that. The history of music ... when you was a great horn player, you studied the horn players. You went to the spot and you checked out the great horn players in your neighborhood. When you was Sam Cooke trying to be a singer, you was in the church singing with the great singers. You was watching the great performers. And then when you went to hip-hop. The people who started hip-hop, they liked Barry White, they liked disco. They studied music. They loved the craft. Music is a craft," he continued. "So now what happens is you can just be a celebrity and not be skilled at your craft. And 'I don't care about music culture.' Then don't do it. ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota police officer has been charged with second-degree manslaughter after prosecutors determined he acted unreasonably when he shot and killed Philando Castile, a black man whose girlfriend streamed the gruesome aftermath of the fatal shooting live on Facebook, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
St. Anthony police officer Jeronimo Yanez shot the 32-year-old Castile during a July 6 traffic stop in the St. Paul suburb of Falcon Heights. Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, was in the car along with her young daughter at the time. The woman said Castile was shot several times while reaching for his ID after telling Yanez he had a gun permit and was armed.

Ramsey County Attorney John Choi, whose office will prosecute the case, said Yanez shot Castile seven times "in rapid succession" and that the evidence shows Castile was calm and complied with the officer's requests after he was pulled over.
Prosecutors believe Castile never tried to pull his handgun from his pocket, Choi said, adding that as Castile was dying, he moaned and uttered his final words: "I wasn't reaching for it."
The fatal shootings of black men and boys by police officers have come under heightened scrutiny since the 2014 death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. No charges were filed against the officer in that case, but Brown's death led to calls nationwide for officers to be held criminally responsible.
Choi said in Castile's case that the officer's unreasonable fear did not justify his use of deadly force.
"No reasonable officer, knowing, seeing and hearing what officer Yanez did at the time, would've used deadly force under these circumstances," Choi said. If convicted of second-degree manslaughter, Yanez could face a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.
Yanez's attorney, Tom Kelly, has said Yanez, who is Latino, was reacting to the presence of a gun, and that one reason Yanez pulled Castile over was because he thought he looked like a possible match for an armed robbery suspect. Choi said Wednesday that Castile was not a suspect in that robbery; Castile's family members have said they believe the elementary school cafeteria worker was racially profiled.
Kelly did not immediately return phone messages seeking comment Wednesday. An attorney for the Castile family was planning a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
Castile's shooting prompted numerous protests, including a weekslong demonstration outside the governor's mansion and one protest that shut down Interstate 94 in St. Paul for hours. The interstate protest resulted in about 50 arrests and injuries to more than 20 officers who were hit with cement chunks, bottles, rocks and other objects.
Choi resisted pressure immediately after the shooting to turn the case over to a special prosecutor, but he added one to his team to get an outside perspective. He said Wednesday that he reviewed the case himself instead of sending it to a grand jury in the interest of transparency.
Choi gave a detailed account Wednesday of the events surrounding Castile's shooting, noting that Castile was wearing his seat belt and complied with Yanez after he was pulled over. Choi said Castile volunteered that he had a firearm, which is not required by law.
Choi said Yanez had his hand on his holster before Castile could finish his sentence, and repeatedly shouted "Don't pull it out" before he fired. Choi said the final shot was fired one minute and two seconds after Castile's vehicle came to a stop.
Choi said Castile's gun was later found deep in a front pocket of his shorts, with a loaded magazine but no bullet in the chamber.
He noted that another officer who responded did not touch his weapon and said Castile had made no sudden movements.
Squad car video captured the entire incident, including audio and subsequent conversations Yanez had with other officers, Choi said. He was not releasing the video because it was evidence in Yanez's prosecution.
The announcement comes one day after the anniversary of the high-profile killing by police of another black man in Minnesota, Jamar Clark in Minneapolis. The officers in that case were not charged.

When we first heard rumblings of a possible fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0) and Conor McGregor (21-3) it sounded like a complete pipe dream.
Now, it doesn't appear to be so far fetched for one reason ... if it makes dollars, it makes sense. The fight would shatter all previous pay-per-view records for a sporting event.
It would have to be held under boxing rules because as far as we know, Floyd has never trained in mixed martial arts.
Over the last day or so the two fighters have exchanged verbal jabs.
Mayweather compared his boxing accomplishments to that of an "elephant" compared to what he told a TMZ reporter were McGregor's "ant" sized MMA feats.

During ABC's special "Beyond Magic" on Tuesday, November 16, illusionist David Blaine pulled out several amazing tricks that still have us scratching our heads this morning.
One that has everyone talking today involved frogs.
As Drake, Donnell Rawlings, Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler looked on, Blaine asked Dave Chappelle to use a mobile device’s app to draw “a small creature that could in the palm of Drizzy's hand.
The actor and comedian came up with something that resembled a frog.
Blaine then grabbed a champagne flute and regurgitated a live frog into it. He handed the flute to Drake, who immediately tried giving it back. After producing a second amphibian, Blaine asked Curry to check his mouth to make sure it was empty before performing the trick a third time.

Jay Z is facing a legal battle for allegedly streaming Prince's music illegally on TIDAL.
TMZ reports that the late singer's NPG Records is suing Roc Nation for copyright infringement. According to the suit, Prince entered into an agreement prior to his death with RN that allowed his 2015 album titled "Hit N Run: Phase 1" to be streamed on TIDAL.
NPG Records alleges TIDAL illegally began to stream almost all of Prince's music catalog without consent on June 7, 2016, a little over a month after the singer died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl. He was 57-years old.
The three pages of songs listed in the lawsuit include some of the music icon's biggest hit records, including "I Wanna Be Your Lover," "1999," "Little Red Corvette," "Cream," "Purple Rain," "Controversy" and "Pop Life."
Prince's label wants TIDAL to cease streaming his music outside of "Hit N Run: Phase 1." They are also seeking an unspecified amount in damages.
Juicy J is headlining a new tour called "Rubba Band Business." He's bringing his brother Project Pat and Roc Nation recording artist Belly along with him as the opening acts.
The trek kicks off on January 26 in Phoenix. Along the way there will be stops in San Diego, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York City, Detroit and Chicago before winding down in Milwaukee on March 18.
