Video After The Jump
When we first heard rumblings of a possible fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0) and Conor McGregor (21-3) it sounded like a complete pipe dream.
Now, it doesn't appear to be so far fetched for one reason ... if it makes dollars, it makes sense. The fight would shatter all previous pay-per-view records for a sporting event.
It would have to be held under boxing rules because as far as we know, Floyd has never trained in mixed martial arts.
Over the last day or so the two fighters have exchanged verbal jabs.
Mayweather compared his boxing accomplishments to that of an "elephant" compared to what he told a TMZ reporter were McGregor's "ant" sized MMA feats.
When The Notorious One was told by a TMZ reporter about the comments he dared Money May to "say it to his face."
On Tuesday, November 15, while at 1 OAK in New York City, McGregor took it a step further. He had a few choice words for the boxing legend and named his price for a pure boxing match between them.
"Floyd's not ready for this," McGregor said from behing the DJ booth. "Much respect to Floyd. He's a solid businessman on what he's been able to do. He's a fucking animal at what he's been able to do. But as far as real fighting ... as far as true, pure unarmed combat ... Floyd don't want none of this. He wants it under boxing rules. He wants a boxing match. He doesn't want to fight. I want a $100 million cash to fight him under boxing rules because he's afraid of a real fight."
Al Haymon, WME-IMG, Dana White and Mayweather Promotions figure it out and make it happen.
