CARROLTON, Texas - A man is jailed on a murder charge accused of killing the mother of his toddler when she was trying to go to work.

Carrollton police say Andrew Charles Beard shot Alyssa Burkett in the head and stabbed her multiple times.

Witnesses described the attacker as a black man after the murder happened last week. But police say they found evidence of a fake beard and blackface make-up the suspect may have used as a disguise.

Beard’s bond was set at $1 million. He’s charged with murder. Police say it’s clear this killing was personal.

Burkett will not be around to raise her 1-year old daughter, Willow. The 24-year-old mom was murdered while arriving to work at the Greentree Apartments in Carrolton last Friday morning.

Police believe the killer is someone they know all-too-well: 33-year-old Andrew Charles Beard, who is Willow’s father.

“Pretty early on, it was clear to our detectives this was someone who was hunting her. Someone who knew where she was going to be and someone who wanted her dead,” said Carrolton Police Spokesperson Jolene DeVito.

According to the arrest affidavit, Witnesses told police that as Burkett pulled up to work a man exited a black truck, approached Burkett's car and fired a gun. She was shot in the head and then stabbed multiple times.

“This was personal,” DeVito said.

Burkett's family told investigators that Beard and their daughter were in a contentious child-custody battle.

Prosecutors are calling Jerry Harris a "clear and present danger" as they motion for the Cheer star to be detained until trial.

According to court documents filed in the Northern District of Illinois on Tuesday, prosecutors claim that Harris, 21, has admitted to victimizing "at least 5 to 10 children who are all forever damaged" and should be detained pending trial.

"Harris exhibits all the signs of a serial child predator and unless and until he receives significant mental health sex offender treatment, he will remain a danger to any child he encounters, either online or in person," reads the document.

In September, federal officials confirmed that Harris was formally charged in Chicago, stating the Naperville man was arrested "for allegedly enticing an underage boy to produce sexually explicit videos and photos of himself."

Harris, the statement alleges, "contacted the underage boy on a social media application and repeatedly enticed him to produce sexually explicit videos and photographs of himself and send them to Harris, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago. The minor victim informed Harris during their initial online encounter that he was 13 years old."

According to the Chicago Tribune, Harris' legal team has requested he be granted home detention until trial, citing his asthma as a risk for contracting COVID-19 in jail. His detention hearing is set for Wednesday.

In the documents filed this week, prosecutors argued that Harris should be detained because "even when Harris was tipped off to a possible investigation into his crimes, he was not able to control his impulses and he continued to victimize multiple other children while living in a residence with responsible adults present."

WEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A rapper has been arrested and charged days after a shooting in Bay Harbor Islands left two people injured.

Lontrell Williams, a rapper who goes by the name Pooh Shiesty, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade, Tuesday.

He faces several charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault and theft. He was denied bond.

On Friday, two people were taken to the hospital after shots were fired in the area of the 10600 block of 97th Street.

Police said Williams was linked to the incident after being involved in a drug and sneaker deal that went bad.

Tory Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, made his court appearance by phone in Los Angeles on charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He said only “yes, your honor” to a series of questions from the judge and did not enter a plea. His arraignment was postponed until Nov. 18.

Lanez’s bail was set at $190,000, which was promptly posted, and he was ordered to make no contact with Megan Thee Stallion and to surrender any guns he owns.

His attorney Shawn Holley declined comment afterward.

The day after he was charged, Lanez said on Twitter that “the truth will come to the light” and “a charge is not a conviction.”

After teasing on Sept. 24 that he might tell his side of the story on social media later that night, he instead released a new album, “Daystar,” which currently sits at No. 10 on the Billboard album chart.

Prosecutors allege Lanez fired on Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, after she got out of an SUV during an argument. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of about 23 years.

Dr. Dre's estranged wife, Nicole Young, is being investigated by the LAPD for alleged embezzlement ... sources close to the case tell TMZ.

We're told Dre's business partner, Larry Chatman, recently went to the police and filed a report, claiming Nicole withdrew hundreds of thousands of dollars from their business account without authorization ... something Larry had previously alleged in legal letters fired off to Nicole's side in the past few weeks.

In the report to LAPD, Dre's team claims Nicole embezzled $385,029. We're told LAPD detectives are aware Larry believes Nicole is the culprit, and they're looking into it now. For the record, Dre did not file the report.

As we previously reported ... Dre's called out Nicole for 2 withdrawals -- which total the $385k -- in their divorce case. Nicole has said she had a right to the money in that corporate account because her name is on it.

If charges are brought forth from this, it's possible Nicole could do time.

Nicole's legal team has previously told us Chatman's claims against her are nothing but a smear attempt and a PR stunt as she navigates her pending divorce from Dre. Her attorneys maintain she's done nothing wrong thus far.

We've reached out to Nicole's lawyer again about the police investigation ... so far, no word back.

HIGHLAND CO., Ohio (FOX19) - The man who was being chased through a courthouse has been found and taken into custody.

Nicholas Garrison, 33, was found on Friday after video emerged of his escape from the Highland County Courthouse earlier in the week.

Garrison was in the process of being handcuffed by a deputy and bailiff Tuesday when he managed to break away, according to Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera.

The courtroom cameras show Garrison taking off, running through the courtroom, and out a door.

The door leads to a set of stairs and Garrison is seen running down them.

The bailiff dives headfirst over the banister as he tried to grab the running Garrison.

The bailiff, unable to stop Garrison, broke four of his ribs and suffered a minor concussion when he landed on the stairs, Sheriff Barrera said.

The sheriff said the bailiff went above and beyond to try and catch Garrison.

“The deputy bailiff went above and beyond to try and cut him off at the shortest path and unfortunately for the deputy bailiff he got injured,” Sheriff Barrera stated.

Garrison was able to get outside and went into hiding.

Sheriff Barrera said they received tips, which led them to a motel in Clinton County.

Around 4:30 a.m. Friday, the sheriff said Garrison was found at the hotel and taken into custody.

Garrison is now facing additional charges, according to the sheriff.

FOREST, Miss. (AP) — Law enforcement officers who pulled a driver over for a traffic violation in Mississippi allegedly discovered about 37 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside a spare tire stashed in the vehicle.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Flowood Police Department stopped a pickup truck along an interstate near Flowood early this month after spotting it driving in a “careless manner,” according to the agencies.

An officer conducting the stop discovered a tire in the bed of the truck, and inside it, an assisting deputy found 37.5 pounds of methamphetamine worth an estimated street value of $350,000, WLBT-TV reported, citing the authorities.

The driver was charged with aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee said.

The suspect was not immediately identified and it was unclear whether they were being held in custody.
