Young Buck released a song over the weekend titled "The Get Back." In it, the G-Unit emcee expresses his disgust with corrupt cops, following the recent shooting deaths of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge and Philando Catile in St. Paul, at the hands of officers.
Buck suggests that it might be time to fight fire with fire.
"Laying on the roof waiting for 12 to come through / .223 shells what the hell they gon' do? / Gripping on the handle, thinking 'bout Philando / I'ma blow out his candles. Make him out of example," he raps in the song.
On Wednesday, July 13, Buck appeared on TMZ Live to talk about the song's meaning with Harvey Levin and Charles Latibeaudiere.
"I do feel like, just us as people, we do got the right to be able to protect our lives from those crooked police officers that feel like they got the right to come take your innocent life ... black or white," Buck said.
Levin and Latibeaudiere asked the Tennessee rapper how he felt about the killing of 5 police officers in Dallas last week by gunman, Micah Johnson.
"Honestly, my condolences goes out to the lives that was lost in Dallas," Buck replied. "But I do feel like we have the right to protect our life."

On Monday, July 11, former Miss Alabama, Kalyn Chapman James, released a video on Facebook in which she agonized over the fact that she doesn't "feel sorry" for the five Dallas police officers who were murdered by gunman Micah Johnson on July, 7, 2016.
"I can't stop the image of these men being killed in my mind, and my heart weeps," she says in the clip. "But I think more than anything I'm dealing with a bit of guilt, because I don't feel sad for the officers that lost their lives. And I know that's not really my heart. I value human life and I want to feel sorry for them, but I can't help but feeling like the shooter was a martyr."
Since the video's release James has gotten a lot of backlash. She appeared on CNN Wednesday to speak with anchor Poppy Harlow about why she feels empathy for the killer.
"I wasn't saying that he's someone I celebrate or that I hold in high esteem. A martyr is truly and simply defined as a person who dies for their beliefs. That's the context in which I used it," James told Harlow. "It's complex being an African American in America, watching people being gunned down. It doesn't mean that I don't value all human life, because I do. But I think that I've been more directly affected by the atrocities I've seen done against people of color. I've had to deal with that as an African American woman. And I do have to admit, while I detest the killing of those officers and the taking of innocent lives ... I did in a way, I understood what could drive the shooter to do something like that."

Tamir Rice, Sean Bell, Sandra Bland, Alton Sterling, Philando Catile, Oscar Grant, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, Mike Brown and many more African Americans ... too many to count, have lost their lives after runs ins with police.
Hip hop artists have a powerful platform and fans who will listen to their message if they would speak out against injustice, but most would rather stay silent and count their money while blood is being shed in the streets.
Thankfully, rappers like Young Buck, Killer Mike, Boosie Badazz, Lupe Fiasco, Immortal Technique, Willie D, Public Enemy, Beyonce and now Joe Budden are letting their voices be heard, damn the consequences.
