In 2002 Dr. Dre began working on his highly anticipated "Detox" album. The super-producer is known to have collaborated with Eminem, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, T.I., Rick Ross, Kendrick Lamar, Busta Rhymes, Skylar Grey, Lil Wayne and others.

Despite a couple of announced release dates the album has yet to see the light of day.

Most hip hop fans have given up hope that they will ever hear the project, but there is still a glimmer of hope.

TMZ reports that on Tuesday, January 9, ESPN's Chris Haynes spotted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee at a Golden State Warriors practice and asked him if "Detox" was dead in the water.

Dre's responded by saying "I'm working on a couple songs right now. We'll see."

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Rapper Kevin Gates is a free man.

TMZ reports that the 31-year old Baton Rouge native, born Kevin Gilyard, was released Wednesday morning, January 10, from East Moline Correctional Facility in Illinois. He served 9 months of a 30-month sentence for a 2013 felony gun possession case.

Gates is now on parole, and his release conditions include mandatory supervision and no possession of firearms.

Compton rapper and Top Dawg Entertainment recording artist, Kendrick Lamar, has teamed up with Nike for his own sneaker dubbed the Cortez Kenny 1.

K. Dot sported them during his halftime performance at the Georgia Bulldogs vs the Alabama Crimson Tide NCAA National Football Championship game on Monday, January 8.

The shoes have the trademark Nike Swoosh removed and replaced by the name of K. Dot's latest album, DAMN.

According to Nike, the Cortez Kenny 1 will be released January 26 via the brand’s SNKRS app.

Adult film actress Olivia Nova has passed away. She was 20-years old.

Fox News reports that Nova died on Sunday, January 6, in Las Vegas from unknown causes.

Nova, a Minnesota native, was represented by LA Direct Models. She had appeared in a number of films for Vixen, Naughty America, FTV Girls, New Sensations, Brazzers, Digital Sin and Girlfriends Films since entering the business in March 2017.

LA Direct Models issued the following statement:

“While only represented by Direct Models for a short period of time, we came to know Olivia as a beautiful girl with a very sweet and gentle personality,” LA Direct Models said. “It is understood next of kin have been informed. Another one, way too young we are beyond shocked and most certainly, completely out of the blue. Rest in peace, sweet angel."

Nova is fourth porn actress to die within the last four months. August Ames, 23, hung herself in August. Turi Luv, 31, died of a drug overdose the same month and Shyla Stylez, 35, died in her sleep in November.

Joe Budden has been become known for being very opinionated. He generally speaks his mind on his podcast, but it was still surprising when he was critical of Eminem's "Untouchable" single, given the fact that his group Slaughterhouse is signed to Shady Records.

"That new fucking Eminem song is trash," Budden said last month. "I'm talking about the new one. That Untouchable shit. It's really, really bad. That Untouchable Eminem record is one of the worst records I've ever heard."

On Monday, January 8, Eminem released the remix to "Chloraseptic," which contained a subliminal shot at Budden.

Bizarre of D12 used the opportunity to let off rounds at Budden via Twitter. Peep the exchange below.

The follow up to Migos' 2017 RIAA certified platinum album, "Culture," will soon arrive. While there is no official release date for "Culture II" yet, group member Quavo confirmed via Twitter Monday, January 8, that the project is now in the mixing stage.

The 26-year old Atlanta rapper also gave a shout out to the Georgia Bulldogs as they prepare to play the Alabama Crimson Tide tonight in college football's National Championship game.
