LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky jury on Thursday cleared a former police officer of charges that he endangered neighbors when he fired shots into an apartment during the 2020 drug raid that ended with Breonna Taylor’s death.

The panel of 8 men and 4 women delivered its verdict about 3 hours after it took the case following closing arguments from prosecution & defense attorneys.

Hankison had been charged with 3 counts of wanton endangerment for firing through sliding-glass side doors and a window of Taylor’s apartment during the raid that left the 26-year-old Black woman dead. Hankison’s attorneys never contested the ballistics evidence, but said he fired 10 bullets because he thought his fellow officers were “being executed.”

Hankison did not appear outside the courtroom after the verdict was read. But his attorney Stewart Mathews said he and his client were “thrilled.”

Asked what might have swayed the jury, Mathews replied, “I think it was absolutely the fact that he was doing his job as a police officer. ... The jury felt like you go out and perform your duty and your brother officer gets shot, you got a right to defend yourself. Simple as that. ”

Assistant Kentucky Attorney General Barbara Maines Whaley said she respected the jury’s verdict but had no further comment.

Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, and a group of friends & family left without commenting after the verdict.

Hankison, 45, testified during the trial that he saw a muzzle flash from Taylor’s darkened hallway after police burst through the door & thought officers were under heavy fire, so he quickly wheeled around a corner & sprayed 10 bullets, hoping to end the threat.

But in closing arguments Thursday, prosecutors cast doubt on what Hankison said he saw, challenging whether he could have looked through Taylor’s front door when police broke it open with a battering ram.

“He was never in the doorway,” Whaley told the jury. Referring to Taylor she added, “His wanton conduct could have multiplied her death by 3, easily.”

YFN Lucci is desperate to get out of jail as he awaits trial in his murder case ... because he thinks he might literally die behind bars if he stays locked up.

According to new legal docs, the rapper claims a fellow inmate at the Fulton County Jail stabbed him last month ... and he also says he's been told there's a bounty on his head among inmates.

In the docs, obtained by TMZ, YFN Lucci claims he was stabbed from behind while on a video call with someone on the outside ... and he says the other inmate used a homemade shank to stab him.

Since the alleged stabbing back on Feb. 9, YFN Lucci claims he's been told there's a price on his head ... and he fears his life is in jeopardy if he remains in custody.

As a result, YFN Lucci is asking the judge to grant him bond so he can get the hell outta jail ... and he says he would be down with 24-hour home confinement and wear a monitoring device if he gets out.

Remember ... Lucci is in jail right now because prosecutors said he violated the previous bond conditions in his murder case by going to a strip club and a recording studio.

So, it will be interesting to see if he gets another shot.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (USA Today) – A man who police say shot & killed his 3 daughters and their chaperone Monday at a church in Sacramento County, California, was out on bail at the time of the shooting, according to information released Tuesday.

David Mora, 39, was arrested last week on several charges, including assaulting a police officer. Mora was under a domestic violence restraining order & not supposed to have a gun under California law.

Mora fatally shot his daughters, aged 9, 10 & 13 Monday evening, officials said. Authorities said he also killed 59-year-old Nathaniel Kong, who was the chaperone for the visitation.

The shooting was a "domestic violence incident," according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.

Business records show Kong had been an executive in the church. He also served Mora with a restraining order in May 2021, which stipulated the father only have supervised visits with his daughters for up to 4 hours per week with a mutually agreed-upon chaperone. Mora also was required to take anger management courses.

Mora, who also was identified as David Fidel Mora Rojas in court papers, was taken into custody for a mental health evaluation last April 17. Mora's estranged girlfriend & mother of the 3 girls filed the domestic violence restraining order against him in April 2021.

The order says the mother was afraid for her life & that Mora had threatened to kill her if he caught her cheating.

Only days before shooting, Mora was arrested in Merced County, California on charges of resisting arrest, battery on a police officer & driving under the influence after he allegedly assaulted a California Highway Patrol officer.

The FBI arrested an aspiring social media influencer after it connected him to a series of robberies by identifying his sneakers in TikTok videos.

Michigan resident Chozen Terrell-Hannah, 22, could be seen dancing while wearing Nike sneakers with red spots on them that matched the shoes worn by an armed robber who’d held up 4 stores from December to February.

An anonymous tipster pointed agents to the “ChozenWrld” page on TikTok, which has more than 149,000 followers & 1.6 million likes.

Terrell-Hannah allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven twice & also robbed a gas station & a smoke shop.

The robber in each of the cases was wearing a hooded sweatshirt, a mask & white shoes. But during the last robbery, witnesses noticed pink hair visible under the mask.

Authorities told the outlet that they watched dozens of his social media videos and noticed he matched up with witnesses’ descriptions. In one video, he is dancing and singing a song with partially dyed pink hair visible.

The FBI also said once it tracked Terrell-Hannah after obtaining a warrant, cellphone data showed him in the area of the robberies. During a raid of his residence, agents found a Glock handgun & unique shoes.

A school administrator in Ecorse was arrested Monday morning, a month after he was charged with criminal sexual conduct, school administrators and prosecutors said.

Melven Conway was charged Feb. 1 with first-degree criminal sexual conduct against a person younger than 13 years-old, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

Conway, 45, an assistant principal at Ecorse Community High School, was taken into custody at a school building Monday morning, according to Ecorse Public Schools Superintendent Josha Talison.

The arrest came after a police report was made in the spring of 2021 and a warrant was presented to the prosecutor's office by the Detroit Police Department in September, Miller said.

The alleged crime took place in a Detroit home, officials said.

Conway was scheduled to be arraigned later Monday in 36th District Court before Magistrate Joseph Boyer.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office assisted the Detroit Police Department in making the arrest, communications director Erika Erickson said.

Former heavyweight UFC champion Cain Velasquez was arrested for attempting to shoot a man charged with molesting one of the fighter’s close relatives, it was revealed on Tuesday.

Velasquez was aiming to shoot Harry Eugene Goularte when he opened fire on a car occupied by Goularte and two others Monday.

The bullet allegedly struck Goularte’s stepfather instead.

Goularte, 43, had been arraigned Friday on felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14.

Goularte’s accuser is a relative of Velasquez. The child was abused by Goularte at his mother’s day care center, where the suspect also lived.

The alleged sex abuser was granted supervised release, despite objections from California prosecutors.

Velasquez, 39, was charged with attempted murder. The man he shot was expected to survive, police said, as they released a mugshot of the retired MMA fighter looking smug and satisfied.

Velasquez was being held behind bars with no bail and was reportedly set to be arraigned Wednesday.

“We’re all fighters, and I know that what you see on television is us beating people up,” said Amador Rosales, a fighter at American Kickboxing Academy, the gym where the Mexico native trained and coached.

“But we’re humble … and Cain Velasquez has always been a humble guy, in defeat and victory. I’ve never seen him once in my entire life here ever throw a fit ever once – not once a tantrum, nothing. He’s not an angry guy at all.”
